The simple and delicious food I prepared for today was mashed potatoes and steamed meat patty soup.
Originally, I was only going to make the steamed meat patty soup, but I was craving some KFC-style creamy mashed potatoes, so I decided to sneak that in as well.
Making this is incredibly simple. Thereâs really no difficulty at all. Adding a little more or a little less of the ingredients wonât really affect the flavor much.
Of course, you canât make a mistake like accidentally dumping in half a bowl of salt or anything.
With a few deft movements of her hands, Jiang Qiuqiu quickly peeled the potatoes on the counter until they were spotless. She then casually cut them into slices. "You can chop these up however you like," she explained. "There are no special requirements for thickness; just cutting them is fine."
"Once theyâre sliced, just steam them in a pot. After theyâre fully cooked, pour in some milk." The milk was a bit unfamiliar to her audience, so she mentioned it was a new product from the Agricultural Research Institute. "Pour in a small amount of milk, add some salt for seasoning, and then just mash it all up."
Since this was a spur-of-the-moment decision, she didnât have any black pepper at home. Jiang Qiuqiu thought for a moment, then took out some Sichuan peppercorn powder instead.
âHmm... maybe itâll taste a little strange?â she wondered. âOh well.â She ground the Sichuan peppercorns into a powder, mixed it with some cornstarch and water to make a slurry, then heated it in a pot until it thickened. All that was left was to pour it over the potatoes.
The steamed meat patty soup was even simpler. It was a special soup-making technique from Jiang Qiuqiuâs hometown. You lay the meat patty at the bottom of a bowl, crack an egg over it, add fresh water, and then put the whole thing in a large clay urn to simmer. This method produces an incredibly savory meat patty, a silky-smooth egg, and a rich, flavorful white broth.
Of course, she didnât have a clay urn here, so she made a simplified version. After a bit of simple seasoning, all she had to do was place it in a steamer basket.
With the cooking demonstration complete, the housekeeper robot had already uploaded the mashed potatoes.
Jiang Qiuqiu had the assistant robot bring over a stool. The moment she sat down, her head dropped lower in the frame. After adjusting the camera robot, she smiled and said, "You guys donât mind if I take a little break and sit down, do you?"
"Iâll let the housekeeper robot handle the uploads today, while I join you all in tasting todayâs delicious food!"
With that, she placed a serving of mashed potatoes in front of herself. "The mashed potatoes have a pale, creamy yellow color. Since I added milk, they have a faint milky aroma. I didnât have its classic partner, black pepper gravy, so I opted for a Sichuan peppercorn sauce. The flavor might be a little strange, and itâll be a bit spicy. For my fans who canât handle spice, please be cautious!"
[Iâll eat it even if I have to cry!]
[Thereâs no way Juju could make something that doesnât taste good!]
Jiang Qiuqiu herself had never tried this curious combination of Sichuan peppercorn powder and mashed potatoes. She scooped up a spoonful and brought it to her lips.
The numbing sensation was the first thing to hit her tongue, making it tingle. But the strange flavor she had imagined never appeared. She had only used a little of the peppercorn powder, so the flavor wasnât overpowering. Mixed in with the lightly salted, creamy mashed potatoes, all the flavors balanced each other out perfectly.
It wasnât too numbing, nor was it bland. A gentle press of the tongue released a wave of endless flavor.
The fans who managed to snag a portion ate it as well.
After tasting it, they flooded the comments:
[So this is what Juju meant by âa little strangeâ! It *is* a bit strange! Itâs so weird how a plain potato can be this delicious!]
[Iâve never explored the wonders of fresh and natural ingredients before. I really had no idea... there were so many delicious things out there!]
[I learned this one too! I canât believe itâs this delicious with just a little bit of cooking!]
Jiang Qiuqiu saw this comment and chimed in, "Thatâs right. Cooking isnât as hard as everyone thinks. As long as youâre willing to try it a few times, youâll get the hang of it eventually."
Even if itâs not a gourmet delicacy, itâs a hundred times better than drinking Nutrient Liquid. âOf course, it is a little expensive,â she thought.
