Chapter 1621: First Live Performance After So Long
The Black Stars gathered for viewing parties across different places, both in person and virtual, to watch their Boss Irisâ new music video together.
At the rented hotel hall, the original Black Stars stared in silence as the credits of the music video rolled. Some had tears streaming down their faces.
Madam Feng Wang (MrsLovePhantom) dabbed tears from her eyes with a silk handkerchief. Her three posh friendsâSi Xinyue (JJNumber1Fan), Bai Li (JJNumber2Fan), and Kung Mian (JJNumber3Fan)âdid the same thing.
Zhou Meiâer (CaptainBlackStar) rubbed the goosebumps on her arms. She also patted the younger Ming Li (LittlePhoenix) who was bawling her eyes out.
"Wow," Zhou Meiâer couldnât help but breathe out.
"Boss Iris is the best!" Ming Li sobbed. "Why canât I stop crying? Itâs an inspirational song and shouldnât even be sad, but I just feel so proud of Boss Iris that my eyes are flooding. Big Sis Meiâer! This is the best song ever!"
Zhou Meiâer chuckled but she agreed with what Ming Li said in her heart. "Donât say that this is the best song ever yet. Remember that Boss Iris is going to release an album soon. This is just the first of the many incredible songs that Iâm sure weâll all love. I donât think that Boss Iris will release the best song first. She must be saving it for a later release. I canât wait."
Ming Li nodded. "Youâre right, Big Sis!"
Similar conversations were happening across the hotel hall. Now that most of the awed Black Stars had regained their senses, they started discussing and gushing over the music video they just watched.
At the same time, someone played it again.
"The song is entirely in English," one Black Star said. "Although I canât understand the lyrics much, everything else is enough to make me shiver! Why is our Boss Iris so incredible? Itâs also super cool to watch Enrique Valdez playing the lead guitar! Watching my idol with a living legend feels so surreal! I canât believe that this is really happening!"
"Letâs watch the music video again," another Black Star said. "This time, with the subtitles on. I want to understand the lyrics."
Then yet another Black Star asked, "Have you all seen Boss Irisâ most recent post? She just posted it about five minutes ago. She says that the Chinese version will be released next week! I canât wait!"
"But this English version is already so good. I do hope that the Chinese version does it justice."
"Donât forget that our Boss Iris is a polyglot! She has experience in translating! Iâm sure that she wonât allow any haphazard translation of her music."
"I agree! JJ has repeatedly mentioned before that he has never encountered an artist whoâs more of a perfectionist than him."
"Thatâs why they keep on clashing like cats and dogs! Watching their previous behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the âRebirthâ album always makes me laugh. That hot-tempered JJ has finally met his match! Even Prince Lin Lin, a superstar, had to suffer whenever he worked with JJ in the past. But our Boss Iris never allows herself to suffer any grievance even from a renowned producer like JJ."
"Our Boss Iris is on another level. Who else can move a legendary hitmaker like Enrique Valdez in moving into our country to collaborate on a new album? Whatâs more, this album had been delayed so many times, and yet Enrique Valdez still continued to wait patiently! Only our Boss Iris can do it!"
Listening to the excited and amazed chatter around them, Hou Liang (MonkeyFace) and Wu Chen (iEatSlippers) fished out their phones and directly sent a message of congratulations to Iris Long.
As they were considered business partners in their gaming company, Planet Monkey, they could contact Iris Long directly.
Irisâ reply to them arrived within a couple of minutes. She thanked them for their support.
Then another excited Black Star exclaimed nearby, "Everyone, look at your phones! Boss Iris made another post! She says that sheâll be performing her new song live at MusicFest Tonight!"
"Oh, my gosh! I canât wait! It has been so long since weâve watched Boss Iris perform on a live stage."
"Wow! Even MusicFest Tonight posted about our Boss Iris being a last-minute surprise performance!"
"Iâm sorry, comrades. I would love to spend more time with you, but I need to head to MusicFest Tonightâs studio to start lining up. Who knows? I might get lucky and join tonightâs live audience!"

Ming Li (LittlePhoenix) looked anxiously at the other Black Stars who were leaving in a hurry. "Big Sis!"
Zhou Meiâer (CaptainBlackStar) looked torn. She also wanted to leave and begin lining up at MusicFest Tonightâs studio to hopefully watch their Boss Irisâ first live stage performance after so long, but as the leader of the fan club, she couldnât just leave without cleaning up the aftermath of todayâs viewing party.
Madam Feng Wan (MrsLovePhantom) noticed her dilemma. She gave her a kind smile, "My dear, donât worry about the things here. You aunties and I will take care of everything. If you want to leave with Little Li, then you should hurry up."
Zhou Meiâer hesitated. "Are you sure about that, Auntie Feng? I donât want to impose on you. Youâre the one who already booked this hotel hall. It would be taking too much advantage of you if I leave you to deal with it by yourself."
"What do you mean by that?" Si Xinyue (JJNumber1Fan) asked. "Your Auntie Feng is far from alone. She has me and your other aunties."
"Yes, thatâs right," Kung Mian (JJNumber3Fan) chimed in. "Besides, itâs not like weâre the ones whoâll personally clean up. Weâll just instruct others to do it for us."
"Go ahead, girl," Bai Li (JJNumber2Fan) said. "If you donât leave now, you might not be able to get a spot for tonightâs live performance. They only have limited free seats in the audience."
Ming Li (LittlePhoenix) grabbed Zhou Meiâerâs hand and tugged it. "Letâs go, Big Sis! Thank you for today, Aunties! Weâll definitely get spots to watch Boss Irisâ live performance tonight."
