"Afraid of losing face?" Heather asked puzzled, "What do you mean by that?"
"Think about it. Everyone in the film crew knows that Mr. Nian has been visiting you at the hospital every day for the past week, and he hasnāt gone to see Qu Leqi. How does she still have any face to stay here?"
"..."
So itās about this matter again.
Nian Shen wouldnāt actually do this, would he?
She had thought that, even though he was coming here every day, he must have smoothed things over with Qu Leqi as well. But if thatās the case... could it be that he didnāt take her "teachings" to heart at all?
"You know how it is, with so many people in the crew gossiping behind backs. Thereās been quite a bit of chatter about this, and I bet Qu Leqi has heard it as well. Feeling humiliated, sheās probably made up the excuse that sheās sick and canāt come."
So thatās how it is...
Ah.
Suddenly, Heather remembered something.
If thatās the case, the call Nian Shen answered earlier might very well have been from Qu Leqi?
"But what can she do," Heather shrugged, "From what Mr. Nian has said, heās planning to take care of my affairs for at least another half month."
Does that mean Qu Leqi will be jealous for another half month?
If Nian Shen still doesnāt soothe her, wonāt she end up "dying of illness" at home?
"Seriously! No way!" The group stared wide-eyed. "Sister Wei Wei! Could it be that Mr. Nian has feelings for you..."
"No! Youāre overthinking it."
"But..." Someone whispered, "Sister Wei Wei, you might not know this, but we planned to visit you the day after the incident. Before we even reached your ward, Assistant Yi Te blocked us and said Mr. Nian had instructed that no one was allowed to disturb you."
"Really? Was that a thing?" Heather had no idea...
"Itās true!" Su Jin nodded. "We were only allowed in today because Assistant Yi Te finally let us."
"So weāre suspecting... Mr. Nian might..."
"Itās not like that," Heather explained to them. "You know about the attack, right? The attacker was a fan of Qu Leqi. He probably thinks that Qu Leqi is his girlfriend, so he felt he had to take responsibility for this. Most likely... heās also trying to appease me so I wonāt blow things up."
"Oh... That does make sense..." Heatherās explanation helped them understand. "Even the director has been worried that, with your temperament, you might make a huge deal out of this. Heās been stressing about how to persuade you. But Sister Wei Wei, from what youāre saying, are you planning not to pursue this matter?"
"Hmm..." Heather rubbed her head and smiled, "No, Iām definitely pursuing it. The word āforgivenessā doesnāt exist in Heatherās dictionary. If thereās a grudge, it has to be settled."
"Huh? How are you planning to settle it?"
"Catch Tang Ming, beat him up until heās hospitalized. An eye for an eye."
"Thatād be trouble..." Someone laughed and said, "On the day of the incident, Tang Ming disappeared!"
"What? Tang Ming disappeared?"
"Yeah, the director thought you wouldnāt let it go, so he tried to locate Tang Ming early to negotiate an apology. But unexpectedly, Tang Ming was nowhere to be found. No one even answered the door at his home. He probably fled."
"That coward who dared to act but not face the consequences clearly ran off because heās afraid of Sister Wei Wei beating him up."
"Obviously... What he did practically counts as attempted murder. He could face charges. If he doesnāt escape, is he supposed to wait to be arrested?"
While they continued discussing, Heather furrowed her brows.
Somehow, she had a nagging feeling... that things werenāt so simple.
"Can someone tell me the sequence of events? When did people start searching for Tang Ming?"
