"Alright! Letâs go visit Mr. Nian first. Youâve worked hard!"
"Not at all..."
Although it wasnât her choice, Mr. Nian, the big boss, had made it clear: his employees must never have subpar benefits. So, the salary he offered was five times that of a regular bodyguard.
Anyway, money wasnât an issue for him, so Heather didnât bother arguing much about it.
If the boss wants to pay extra, why would she decline?
One by one, the visitors left, and later on, someone arrived fully geared up.
No one knew how Qu Leqi managed to disguise herselfâthe exaggerated outfit instantly drew attention and made people realize she was, in fact, Qu Leqi.
So, what was the point of the disguise?
When she was Xiao Man, she would often dress up to go out, and no one could ever recognize her.
Qu Leqi was a walking tragedy, missing only the words "Qu Leqi" written across her face to declare her identity.
Qu Leqi swaggered over, even flanked by her assistants, making such a grand entrance that it seemed she was afraid no one would notice her arrival.
She stopped in front of Heather, finally removed her sunglasses, glanced at her with disdain, and snapped, "Get out of my way, now!"
Originally, if Qu Leqi had spoken nicely, Heather mightâve just let her in. After all, the likelihood of Qu Leqi harming Nian Shen was practically zero. Not because of her motives, but due to her lack of intelligence and emotional quotient. Her odds of success were close to noneâthere was no chance at all.
Heather straightened her posture, leaning against the door with her arms crossed, staring at her. "Miss Qu doesnât seem to have learned the basics of polite behavior yet. Should I teach you?"
That one sentence made Qu Leqi step back a few paces in fear, furrowing her brow as she said, "Heather, what are you planning? Donât mess around! Mr. Nian is in there! If you dare lay a hand on me, he definitely wonât let you off!"
Last time, the distant water couldnât put out the nearby fireâthis time was different, right? It was just a door separating them.
Qu Leqi firmly believed her current status had changed, and Heather wouldnât dare mess with her so easily!
"Miss Qu is overthinking it. I donât intend to do anything to you," Heather replied, yawning out of boredom and lightly patting her mouth. "Iâm staying right here, not going anywhere."
Only then did Qu Leqi realize that Heather had no intention of letting her in!
If Heather wouldnât move on her own, there was no way she could get inside!
Qu Leqi scanned her assistants nearby, signaling them with her eyes: Why donât you go and drag her away?
The assistants looked at Qu Leqi, then back at Heather, collectively gulping and instinctively taking a step back. Who would dare get involved?
This was Heather, for goodness sakeâa woman whom you could only land a hit on by catching her off guard. And they? They were supposed to pull her away from the door? Impossible!
Qu Leqi turned to glare at them multiple times, but no matter how hard she glared, none of them dared to step forward and confront Heather.
Thereâs a saying: A wise man knows when to back down. Money is important, but life is even more so!
Seeing this, Heather leaned against the door, yawning even more exaggeratedly several times in sheer boredom, muttering to herself, "This is taking forever."
Yi Yang stood not far away, observing everything, yet staying uninvolved. Frustrated, Qu Leqi called out to him, "Yi Yang! Arenât you going to do something?"
Having been called out, Yi Yang straightened himself, bowing slightly to Qu Leqi. "My sincerest apologies, Miss Qu. Mr. Nian instructed Miss Hai to handle this as she sees fit, so Iâm afraid I canât be of any help."
