After Heather finished washing up herself, she went over to help Nian Shen out of bed.
Her height made her a perfect makeshift support. She steadied him as they headed into the bathroom, diligently helping him brush his teeth and wash his face.
Washing his face proved a bit tricky. Since his injury was on his back, bending over caused him some pain. So, Heather tiptoed, applied some facial cleanser to his face, worked it in for a while, then wet a towel and carefully wiped it clean for him.
The same went for shaving.
It was her first time ever shaving a man, so she was a bit inexperienced and nearly nicked his skin with the razor out of carelessness.
"Lower your head a bit," Heather said, concentrating intently on his chin. Perhaps because it was her first time doing this, she was even more serious about it. "Donāt move, okay? This is my first time shaving someone. If you move, my hands might tremble."
"Youāve never shaved Ah Nianās beard before?"
"Shh!" She gave him a stern look. "Stop talking! Arenāt you afraid of getting hurt? If you start bleeding, Iām not taking responsibilityāNo, I havenāt. This first time is dedicated to you."
"I feel so absolutely honored."
"I told you to stop talking!"
Yi Yang: "..."
Um...
Maybe he had come at the wrong time again?
Seeing the bed empty had surprised him, and then heād heard voices coming from the bathroom, so he decided to take a look.
Yi Yang hadnāt drawn their attention and silently retreated.
He decided to come back later.
Otherwise, he couldnāt shake the feeling that his life was in danger.
With both of them cooperating reasonably well, Nian Shen managed to finish washing up. Leaving the bathroom, however, was just as much of a struggle as entering it had been.
Nian Shen muttered, "Why hasnāt Yi Yang shown up yet?"
"He already did. Didnāt you scare him off?"
Heather, who had been focusing all her attention on shaving him earlier, hadnāt noticed that Yi Yang had come by a second time.
...
Yi Yang returned after receiving the call, bringing along freshly bought breakfast for two, which he placed on the table.
Just as Nian Shen used to sit by Heatherās hospital bed and share meals with her, now the roles were reversed, with him sitting on the bed as they ate together.
Because it was the same hospital, the same nurses came and went, observing what they found to be a highly amusing situation.
However, the quiet routine was quickly disrupted by a piece of morning entertainment news.
On-screen, the news station aired photos of Qu Leqi in an outfit unmistakably from the previous evening. She had been photographed entering and leaving the hospital, and reporters confirmed that her visit lasted over an hourāmeaning, she had spent more than an hour sweetly with her mysterious, hospitalized boyfriend.
Um...
Heather thought, so sometimes the media isnāt completely off-base, huh? They do manage to capture some truths sometimes.
For instance, she could vouch that everything being reported was true. Qu Leqi had indeed spent over an hour getting cozy with someone, and she had indeed visited her boyfriend. That boyfriend, by the way, was currently sitting next to Heather eating breakfast.
Suddenly, it all made sense to Heatherāwhy Qu Leqi had gone out of her way to dress so conspicuously yesterday.
This was most likely a little scheme orchestrated by Qu Leqi herself, aimed at exposing their romance to the public.
Their relationship had been going on for some time now, yet there had been no movement on the media front. Initially, Heather found that puzzling. Now, it all seemed to be falling into place.
This must be her way of going public, albeit in a somewhat unconventional manner.
Nian Shen glanced at the screen, his brows furrowing for a moment before he quickly dismissed it.
Noticing his fleeting look of concern, Heather asked, "Donāt tell me... Miss Qu didnāt inform you before making this public?"
