Chapter 37: Six-Tailed Void Fox
***
âAlright, little fox, where did you come from?â
After bandaging the little fox, Lin Muyu gently picked it up, staring into its small eyes as she asked.
âKyu kyu?â
The little fox blinked its confused eyes, seemingly unable to understand what Lin Muyu was saying.
âOh right, how could a fox speak?â
Lin Muyu stroked the little foxâs soft head, smiling with understanding.
âThen keep me company while I cultivate for a bit.â
Letting the little fox stay in her embrace, Lin Muyu closed her eyes again and began cultivating.
After all, time was limited. Better to cultivate first, the little foxâs injuries werenât too serious anyway.
While she was cultivating, the snow-white little fox slipped out of Lin Muyuâs embrace. Its pair of strange eyes stared intently at Lin Muyu, as if trying to memorize her appearance in its heart.
Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, an hour had passed.
Lin Muyu slowly opened her eyes.
The little fox was quietly resting in her embrace, sleeping soundly.
âLittle fox, big sister has to go now. Iâll come see you again next time.â
Lin Muyu carefully placed the sleeping little fox on the grass, afraid of waking it up.
With some reluctance, she stroked the foxâs smooth fur one more time.
Lin Muyu finally touched the boundary stone and scattered like starlight, disappearing from this world.
She had thought about taking the little fox back with her, but this boundary stone probably only allowed her alone to pass through.
âInteresting.â
The little fox that had just been âsleepingâ instantly transformed into a young fox-eared beastkin girl.
She had a pair of lively snow-white ears, perfectly complementing her distinctive red and blue heterochromia as she pondered.
Even more eye-catching were the six massive white tails behind her, writhing freely in the air like giant pythons.
âI never expected to encounter such a âsurpriseâ here. Your Majesty, I believe your ninth tail has found its home.â
She curved her lips into a sinister smile, murmuring to herself.
âWhen the nine tails emerge, that will be the day of the demon raceâs rise!â
If not for Qinglan Sectâs protective formation, she would have already eagerly whisked away that little girl.
Unfortunately, in her current injured state, she lacked the power to take this girl out on her own.
âHowever, the urgent matter now is to inform Her Majesty the Empress about this little girl.â
After thinking for a moment, the fox-eared beastkin girl retracted all her ears and tails.
Her aura gradually became ethereal, and her figure slowly blurred.
In the blink of an eye, the original little fox vanished without a trace.
âWhen it comes to spatial mastery, who could compare to me, a Six-Tailed Void Fox?â
The solid and rigid space became like liquid upon contact with the little fox, making way for her passage.
The surrounding scenery rapidly retreated, ten thousand li in a single glance.
This was the spell her Void Fox clan was most proud of: the Art of Space!
This was also how she had managed to slip into Qinglan Sect undetected.
âIs that so?â
Suddenly, from within the river of space came a leisurely female voice, its tone somewhat contemptuous.
In an instant, she was yanked out of the river of space like a fish being pulled up by an angler.
âWho?!â
The Six-Tailed Void Fox immediately revealed her true form, transforming into a massive fox, staring ahead with vigilant alertness.
There werenât many who could drag her out of the river of space, at least the Qinglan Sect master lacked such ability.
Before long, a woman with sky-blue hair appeared before the Six-Tailed Void Fox, holding a wine gourd in one hand, walking somewhat unsteadily.
âItâs you?! How are you still alive?â
The Six-Tailed Void Foxâs eyes widened as if she had received some terrible shock, her body trembling involuntarily.
âOh my, little fox, you actually recognize me.â
The woman raised an eyebrow, put away her wine gourd, and curiously examined the Six-Tailed Void Fox.
A scene involuntarily surfaced in the Six-Tailed Void Foxâs mind.
500 years ago, when heaven and earth shattered, a cold fairy stood with a Heavenly Abyss Sword in hand.
One person, one sword, standing proudly before the âWorld-Burning Beastâ â the Crimson Flame Demonic Beast.
One person and one beast fought for years, battling from ground to sky. Finally, the fairy lured the demonic beast to the ninth heaven, but no one knew the outcome.
Only that both the fairy and the demonic beast completely vanished.
Some believed they perished together.
She, the Seven-Tailed Void Fox, happened to be a witness to that battle. To protect the still-young Demon Empress, she had burned through her spatial power to relocate the entire fox clan.
This directly caused her to lose two tails. After 500 years of cultivation, she had only managed to regrow one tail.
âSo itâs Senior Sword Fairy. This little fox greets you, Senior.â
Transforming back into human form, the Six-Tailed Void Fox spoke with a respectful tone.
âSo you really do know this venerable one?â
The woman toyed with the wine gourd in her hand, looking at the Six-Tailed Void Fox with playful interest.
âYour great name was known to all 500 years ago. It seems the Sword Fairy emerged victorious from that battle.â
The Six-Tailed Void Fox continued her flattery.
âHowever, please spare this little fox, Senior. This little fox was merely passing through.â
âPassing through?â
The fairy raised an eyebrow, her tone slightly rising.
âComing out from within my Qinglan Sect counts as passing through?â
The Six-Tailed Void Fox frowned, her tone hesitant.
âWhat would it take for you to spare this little fox, Senior?â
âTell me your purpose.â The fairyâs voice was lazy and calm, but her gaze revealed a murderous intent.
The Six-Tailed Void Foxâs breathing hitched. She knew todayâs matter couldnât end well.
She certainly couldnât say:
I want to take your Qinglan Sect disciples to serve as cultivation materials for the Empress, could she?
If she said that, sheâd be guaranteed not even ashes would remain.
âSenior, I was being pursued by demonic clan members and fled here for refuge.â
The Six-Tailed Void Fox spoke earnestly, not seeming to be lying.
âOh? Demonic clan members?â
The fairy seemed to be piqued with interest, slowly approaching the Six-Tailed Void Fox.
âYes, demonic clan members stole our clanâs sacred artifact. I tracked them here but was ambushed, and had no choice but to hide in Qinglan Sect.â
The Six-Tailed Void Fox explained respectfully, retreating slightly with reverent fear as the fairy approached.
âThen what did you encounter in my sect that made you so excited?â
The fairyâs slender fingers lifted the void foxâs chin, staring directly into the Six-Tailed Void Foxâs eyes as she continued questioning.
âNothing⊠nothing at all.â
The Six-Tailed Void Foxâs heart tightened as she quickly stepped back.
âReally nothing?â
The fairy shook her wine gourd, her gaze growing dangerous.
âFox clan members are indeed still so cunning.â
Sensing a wave of killing intent, the Six-Tailed Void Foxâs heart trembled.
This clearly meant she had no intention of letting her go!
âNo, the message must get out. Thatâs the hope of the entire demon race!â
âSenior, I wonder how much strength remains in you who battled the Crimson Flame Demonic Beast, when you havenât drawn the Heavenly Abyss Sword?â
The Six-Tailed Void Fox suddenly erupted, her six tails behind her like six giant dragons, carrying terrifying might as they struck toward the fairy.
âBoring.â
The fairy yawned, releasing the gourd in her hand with a relaxed tone.
âLittle gourd, Iâll leave this to you. Iâm going to take a nap.â
âLooking down on me?â
The Six-Tailed Void Foxâs eyes sharpened as her six tails merged into one, smashing against the enlarging gourd. In an instant, space trembled.
Unfortunately, the gourd remained completely unmoved.
It didnât even leave a single mark.
âImpossible! An attack that even Spirit Transformation stage couldnât withstand, yet it canât even budge a gourd.â
The gourd continued to grow until it was the size of a small mountain.
Sensing intense danger, the Six-Tailed Void Fox no longer cared about anything else and hastily burned her blood to perform an escape technique.
Unfortunately, the gourdâs mouth suddenly burst forth with terrifying suction. Even though she could escape spatial constraints, she couldnât escape this gourdâs pull.
In the blink of an eye, the Six-Tailed Void Fox was sucked into it.
The fairy lazily caught the wine gourd and gently shook it.
Her gaze pierced through the clouds, looking at a girl who was currently rambling about having just encountered a cute little fox, and a strange smile curved her lips.
âAfter 500 years of peace, is there finally going to be some fun?â
