In a coffee shop at the entrance of Dongli University.
Su Ze and Xu Sheng sat facing each other.
"Iâve transferred it to you. Three hundred thousand points," Su Ze said, showing Xu Sheng his phone screen.
"Received. Thank you for your business, Mr. Su," Xu Sheng said, beaming.
Su Ze put a vial glowing with a yellow evolutionary light into his bag, and the transaction was complete.
The three hundred thousand points hadnât been deposited into Evolutionary Technologyâs official account but were instead transferred to an anonymous private account. This was an unspoken understanding between Su Ze and Xu Sheng.
After spending three hundred thousand points on the Black-bellied Flood Dragon Extract, Su Ze had seven hundred thousand points left on his membership card.
Su Ze said, "Mr. Xu, thereâs one more thing I need to ask you. Does Evolutionary Technology have any Gravity Demon Extract?"
"Gravity Demon?" Xu Sheng paused for a moment. The name sounded familiar, but he couldnât recall what kind of obscure mutated beast it was.
"One moment, Mr. Su." He took out his phone to search. After a while, a look of realization dawned on his face, and he said:
"Our company doesnât have any in stock at the moment, but youâre not the first person to ask for Gravity Demon Extract, Mr. Su.
"Before you, people would come asking about this extract every so often. But as you know, this mutated beast is incredibly difficult to hunt, and its skill is both powerful and practical, making it highly sought after. Even when an extract does occasionally appear, itâs usually snatched up immediately."
Su Ze said, "So youâre saying itâs impossible for there to be any Gravity Demon Extract in stock? That if I want it, I have to hunt it myself?"
"There wonât be any in stock, but you donât necessarily have to hunt it yourself. You can commission someone else, like us at Evolutionary Technology." Xu Sheng smiled. "Evolutionary Technology also offers a custom service for our high-end members. Just tell us what extract you want, pay a deposit, and weâll arrange for a team to hunt it. We guarantee weâll deliver the extract into your hands."
Su Ze knew Evolutionary Technology offered this service, but he also knew it was very expensive!
"Whatâs the price? How much is the deposit? How long until I get it?" Su Ze asked.
Xu Sheng took a sip of his coffee. "The Gravity Demon Extract is considered a rare, top-grade extract. Its price is already higher than a typical Tier 3 S-class, starting at at least four hundred thousand points. Thatâs just for the extract itself. Add in the service fee for the hunt, and the total will probably be around eight hundred thousand points. The deposit is half up front, and the extract can generally be delivered within a month."
Su Zeâs expression remained neutral, but inwardly he was cursing the man for being a shark. âYouâre fucking greedier than a loan shark.â
Eight hundred thousand points was almost the price of a Tier 4 B-class extract.
Most importantly, Su Ze didnât have that many points left. This was the first time since coming to this world that heâd encountered something he wanted but couldnât afford.
Seeing Su Zeâs silence, Xu Sheng passed his phone over. "These are the transaction records from the last two years for commissions our company took to hunt Gravity Demons for clients. You can take a look."
Su Ze looked it over. There were eight transaction records in total, and the final prices were all around eight hundred thousand points.
Evolutionary Technology was certainly capable. Among these commissions, the fastest delivery was within a week, and the slowest was just over half a month.
Unfortunately, he didnât have the money. Su Ze wanted to keep some points in reserve; there was no way he was going to scrape the bottom of the barrel just to buy the Gravity Demon Extract.
âIâll just stick to my original plan,â he thought. âWait until I reach the Cocoon Stage, then see if Mr. Ya and I can hunt a Gravity Demon ourselves. The main issue isnât whether I can defeat it. Even if I canât, I could ask other powerful individuals in Dongli for help. The hardest part is finding one in the first place. How long would it take to find one by diving thousands of meters underground and searching aimlessly?â
Su Ze suddenly looked up at Xu Sheng, a friendly smile on his face.
When Xu Sheng saw that smile, however, his scalp tingled. He had a bad feeling.
Xu Sheng stood up. "Mr. Su, itâs getting late. I wonât keep you from your rest."
"You came all this way. Wonât you stay for a meal before you go?"
"No, no, Iâm full from all the coffee."
"Mr. Xu, are you saying my hospitality was lacking?"
Xu Sheng gave a wry smile. "Mr. Su, if you have something to say, please just say it. If itâs something I can do, I certainly wonât refuse."
Su Ze smiled, finally revealing his intentions. "Your company has hunted so many Gravity Demons. You must know a lot about the locations where they appear, right?"
Xu Sheng shook his head. "Iâm sorry, Mr. Su, but our company is not in the business of selling intelligence."
Su Ze said, "Iâm not doing business with your company. Iâm doing business with you."
Xu Shengâs expression turned serious. "Mr. Su, youâve misjudged me. The company treats me well. I would never do something like betray the company. Please understand."
Su Ze coughed, then asked quizzically, "I just spent 350,000 points at your company. Why hasnât my membership EXP increased?"
Xu Shengâs face instantly broke into a wide smile. "Mr. Su, youâre a sharp judge of character! Although Iâm in the sales department, I do have a few friends in the hunting department. Iâll ask around for you."
Su Ze asked directly, "Alright, how much?"
"Ten thousand points!"
"Youâve got quite an appetite, Mr. Xu."
Ten thousand points was equivalent to one hundred million Lin coins, enough to buy a tube of a Tier 2 S-class extract. This was just for a piece of information; it was undeniably expensive.
Xu Sheng said seriously, "This price really isnât expensive. You have to understand, for me to get this kind of information, I need to grease some palms. And this is risky. If the company finds out, Iâm screwed."
"Fine. Iâll transfer you two thousand points as a deposit."
Su Ze didnât haggle, agreeing readily.
After seeing Xu Sheng off, Su Ze returned to his residence and took out the Black-bellied Flood Dragon Extract.
He had already absorbed the Mutated Upright Ape Extract yesterday, and his physique had now reached a new peak.
His physical fitness, far surpassing others of the same rank, gave Su Ze the confidence and courage to attempt absorbing a Tier 3 S-class extract while being at a lower tier.
For his first time absorbing a Tier 3 extract out of turn, he was challenging the most difficult S-class. It was indeed a huge leap, but Su Ze still wanted to try.
âEven if the absorption fails, I have the Regeneration Skill. I wonât die.â
The worst-case scenario would be to self-destruct his Regeneration Core to save himself.
Su Ze took a deep breath and poured the Black-bellied Flood Dragon Extract into his mouth.
"Dammit, why is it so disgusting again!"
âWhen will it be my turn to get one of those legendary sweet-tasting extracts?â
This time, it tasted like leftovers that had been sitting out for days, with a distinct sour funk!
It was also mixed with a gamey taste, like the flavor of pork that hadnât been properly bled.
Su Ze gagged, clenching his jaw to keep himself from throwing up.
The sensation of absorbing this extract was clearly different from before. The strain on his body was greater, for one thing. But the strangest part was that Su Ze felt as if he were flying. His whole body felt light and airy, and he finally understood the feeling of being "as light as a swallow."
"Why the fuck am I floating up to the ceiling?"
