Su Ze had already done his homework. He knew it was a third-rank Spiritual Plant cultivated by the Oasis Commerce Association to defend the Oasis Commerce Headquarters from aerial beast attacks.
The trade fair was held in the exhibition hall on the first floor of the Oasis Commerce Headquarters.
Attending the trade fair didnāt require an invitation, but attendees still needed to verify their identity to enter.
Su Ze and Mr. Ya took out their identification, passed the security check, and entered the first-floor exhibition hall.
The hall was filled with high-end display cases showcasing all sorts of Evolution Items. A Butterfly Stage evolver was stationed in each section to deter anyone with malicious intent.
Su Ze observed the crowd of attendees coming and going in the exhibition hall. From their clothes and appearances, he could tell they came from different countries.
The ones with narrow eyes were from the Peninsula Country. The blondes were from the Ancient An Country. Those with cloth wrapped around their heads were from the Great Desert Kingdom, and the ones who smelled of curry were the Luofan...
People from all six nations had come to attend this trade fair.
Some of them radiated an intimidating aura, marking them as powerful evolvers who were not to be trifled with.
Su Ze and Mr. Ya went from one display case to the next, discovering that nearly all the Evolution Items on display and for sale were derived from Spiritual Plants. Very few came from beasts.
However, that didnāt mean materials from Spiritual Plants couldnāt enhance Su Zeās skills. The Tree Marrow from the Spirit Root Tree was the perfect example.
Starting from the very first case, Su Ze pressed his hand against the glass. He did this to get closer to the Evolution Items, hoping to sense if any of them held an attraction for him.
His actions drew the special attention of the Oasis Commerce Association evolvers guarding the cases, who watched him as if afraid he might suddenly smash the glass and grab the contents.
As Su Ze looked over them one by one, he couldnāt help but feel a little disappointed.
āIt seems materials from Spiritual Plants just arenāt as compatible as those from beasts.ā
Back in Xu Shengās shop, two out of a few dozen items had resonated with him, capable of enhancing his skills. Here at the trade fair, however, he had already examined over a hundred items, and not a single one had elicited a response.
Su Ze patiently continued to look them over one by one, finally stopping in front of a display case.
Inside the case, a small, transparent, fava bean-sized piece of gel had caught his attention.
āJudging by the strength of the pull, though, this evolution material can probably only enhance one of my skills, not upgrade it.ā
"What is this?"
A saleswoman in a professional uniform behind the counter stepped forward and explained to Su Ze, "This is resin from the Oasis Mother Tree. Its uses include topical application for healing wounds, oral ingestion to treat mental trauma, and it can even be used to craft evolutionary items or repair artifacts. It has many marvelous applications. If youād like to learn the specifics, you can scan the QR code here for a detailed description."
Su Ze took out his phone and scanned the QR code. As expected, a huge amount of information appeared. The list of the Oasis Mother Tree Resinās uses alone included several dozen entries.
āStrangely, though, it doesnāt specify the resinās rank.ā
"What rank material is this?" Su Ze asked.
"Well..." The saleswoman was about to formulate an explanation when an elderly man from the Great Desert Kingdom, with a cloth wrapped around his head, suddenly approached from the side.
The Great Desert Kingdom elder explained, "Any evolution material obtained from the Oasis Mother Tree does not have a specific rank, because the Mother Treeās own rank is unknown. Itās not even confirmed whether itās a Spiritual Plant or not."
"Furthermore, all Evolution Items harvested from the Mother Tree share a characteristic: they have diverse effects. Unlike typical evolution materials, which often have a single function, the Mother Treeās products have at least a dozen uses."
"Thank you for the clarification, sir," Su Ze said gratefully. He casually glanced at the elderās attireāit was luxurious yet understated, exuding a subtle aristocratic air. He looked like an incredibly wealthy man.
Upon seeing the elder, however, the saleswoman bowed respectfully. "Mr. President."
Su Ze was surprised and asked, "Sir, are you the president of the Oasis Commerce Association?"
The elder smiled. "I am just one of the three vice presidents of the Oasis Commerce Association. The president is someone else."
"Forgive my presumption," Su Ze said politely. āItās not every day I run into a high-ranking executive from the Oasis Commerce Association,ā he thought. āI have to make the most of this and ask a few more questions.ā
He was especially curious about the Oasis Mother Tree, so he asked, "Mr. Vice President, I am a student from Dongli University majoring in Evolution Studies. Iām very interested in the Oasis Mother Tree. Is there anything you can tell me about it? If it isnāt a Spiritual Plant, what do you think it is?"
The question was rather direct and abrupt, but Su Ze didnāt mind. āAfter all, this isnāt my real face.ā
Besides, this was a question that had long puzzled the outside world. The Oasis Mother Tree was not a Spiritual Plant, yet it possessed many mysterious properties; it couldnāt possibly be an ordinary plant.
The vice president paused for a moment. "Compared to a Spiritual Plant, itās more like an artifact."
āAn artifact?ā
Su Ze was stunned. āAn artifact? An artifact that large? One capable of forming an entire oasis and sheltering millions of creatures?ā
āWhat rank would an artifact like that even be!ā
Su Ze wanted to ask more, but the vice president had already turned and left, as if afraid Su Ze would pester him further.
Su Ze turned back to the saleswoman and asked, "How much is this piece of resin?"
"The price is marked on the display, sir," the saleswoman reminded him politely.
"Iām asking for the lowest price."
"Iām sorry, sir, but we do not allow haggling here." The saleswoman went on to explain the trade fairās transaction rules to Su Ze in detail.
The items in the display cases were divided into two types: pre-sale exhibits and items for direct sale.
