This was Su Zeâs first time using the Wind-Rolling Grass, a tier-four escape-type Wondrous Item, and it gave him a fairly comprehensive understanding of it.
This Wondrous Itemâs escape capability was indeed powerful. It was incredibly fast, able to outrun even the average Saint-level Overlord, and could help him escape from dire situations.
But its drawbacks were also obvious. First, the comfort was abysmal. Su Ze suspected that if a Cocoon Stage evolver were inside the Wind-Rolling Grass, they would be shaken until their entire body fell apartânot in the exaggerated, figurative sense, but literally. The kind where flesh and bone separate.
In other words, anyone below the Butterfly Stage who tried to escape with this Wondrous Item would be killed by it instead.
The second drawback was the uncontrollable destination. You never knew where it would take you. If your luck was bad, you could very well escape one danger only to fall into an even greater one.
Take Su Zeâs current situation, for example. He didnât know how long the Wind-Rolling Grass would tumble before stopping, let alone where it would end up.
âThis Wondrous Item... itâs kind of a rip-off.â
âWhen it comes to escaping, Mr. Ya is still the best!â
But regardless, he had at least managed to escape the pursuit of the "living flesh" thanks to the Wind-Rolling Grass.
Su Ze had no idea how much time had passed before the Wind-Rolling Grass finally came to a stop.
Heâd been spun around so much inside that he couldnât tell north from south, let alone up from down. He had completely lost his sense of time.
The Wind-Rolling Grass enveloping Su Ze shrank rapidly and split open, "spitting" him out.
At that moment, Su Ze was still a pool of liquid. He flowed across the grass like a common puddle of water, unable to even coalesce into a human form. His mind was still groggy; he felt completely drained, and the world seemed upside down in his eyes.
He didnât dare revert to his flesh-and-blood body, or heâd surely vomit up his own bile.
He just lay there quietly on the grass, resting. Only when the world in his perception returned to normal did he exit his "Liquid Life" state and revert to his flesh-and-blood form.
Su Zeâs face was a little pale. He surveyed his surroundings, only knowing that he was in a forest, with no idea where.
However, judging by the density of the vegetation, he suspected he had reached the depths of the Blood Earth Forest.
He put the shrunken Wind-Rolling Grass into his Storage Pendant, then took out his phone to check it. As expected, there was no signal.
He could still make out his basic directions, though. Su Ze decided he would rest a bit more, and once he felt better, he would cautiously make his way back.
This was very likely deep within the Blood Earth Forest, perhaps even the core area. Su Ze didnât dare to just brazenly fly back; if he ran into a tier-four or even a tier-five mutated beast, heâd be a living target.
Once he recovered, he would be more careful. He could use his "Eye of Truth" to scout the path ahead, and if things got dicey, he could turn into liquid and travel along the ground. It shouldnât be too much of a problem.
Of course, it would be even better if Chen Suifeng could find him and take him back.
Su Ze found a large tree and sat leaning against its trunk to rest. With nothing better to do, he took out a severed hand.
It was Bai Guishouâs severed hand, and on it was his Storage Ring.
Su Ze tried to pull the Storage Ring off the finger, but Bai Guishouâs fingers were curled, making it difficult to remove.
CRACK!
Su Ze simply snapped off the finger wearing the ring, took the ring, and sent his Spiritual Power inside.
âAs expected of a Saint-level Overlord. Heâs loaded!â
Even though Su Ze was now worth hundreds of billions, his heart still sped up when he saw the contents of Bai Guishouâs ring.
As a foul-smelling "defiled one," Bai Guishou was fated not to be like other evolvers who carried bank cards or membership cards for Evolutionary Technology and Life Pharmaceutical. Most of his wealth was carried on his person in physical form.
His Storage Ring was stuffed with all sorts of natural evolution drugs and extracts, as well as a few Wondrous Items.
Su Ze didnât rush to study the Wondrous Items. Examining them was risky, so it was better to wait until he was in a safe environment.
He focused first on the extracts. Su Ze noticed that they werenât all from mutated beastsâsome were human extracts!
In fact, the majority of them were human extracts.
The difference between human extracts and mutated beast extracts was that a faint crimson color could be seen swirling within the human ones.
The highest-grade human extracts were only tier-three, but among the few vials of mutated beast extracts, there was actually a tier-four extract!
He just didnât know its quality. If it was a tier-four S-rank extract and its skill was compatible with him, Su Ze wouldnât even need to hunt a tier-four mutated beast anymore.
As for the natural drugs, their grades were also quite high. Many of them were useful to Su Ze, and even if he sold them, they would be worth a lot of money.
âIâm rich!â
Su Ze understood that the items in this Storage Ring might just double his net worth.
Besides these Evolution Items, two other things in the Storage Ring caught Su Zeâs attention: a cell phone, and a device that looked similar to a phone but was much thicker.
Su Ze first took out Bai Guishouâs phone and saw it was fingerprint-locked. He picked up Bai Guishouâs severed finger from the ground, rubbed it to give the cold digit some warmth, and then pressed the fingertip to the phoneâs fingerprint sensor.
Unlock successful!
Bai Guishouâs phone also had no signal. Su Ze opened the call log first and found only a few records from today; any earlier ones had probably been deleted.
The same was true for his text messagesâonly todayâs remained.
It seemed Bai Guishou had a habit of clearing all his communication logs once a day.
There were only two people in Bai Guishouâs contacts: one named "Vegetable," and another named "Idiot Kang."
Su Ze didnât know who "Idiot Kang" was, but when he checked the text messages between "Idiot Kang" and Bai Guishou from today, he saw that it was "Idiot Kang" who had ordered Bai Guishou to the Blood Earth Forest on a mission to "kill Su Ze."
From this, it wasnât hard to deduce that "Idiot Kang" was Bai Guishouâs superior, a high-ranking member of the Filth Earth Organization.
As for "Vegetable," the moment Su Ze saw the name, he immediately thought of Feng Bqing.
A look at their chat log from today...
[Bai Guishou: Mr. Fen, that Su Ze you have a grudge against entered the Blood Earth Forest today. The organization has already ordered me to kill him. Are you interested in coming along?]
[Bai Guishou: How about I capture the kid alive and hand him over to you to vent your anger?]
[Bai Guishou: Mr. Fen?? Reply as soon as you see this!]
These three messages were all sent by Bai Guishou to "Vegetable," but "Vegetable" hadnât replied to a single one.
From the content of the messages, Su Ze could already confirm that "Vegetable" was indeed Feng Bqing.
âCould it be that Feng Bqing has returned to normal and isnât crazy anymore?â
âIf heâd really recovered, he should have come to kill me, right? Why has there been no movement...?â Su Ze believed that he was the person Feng Bqing hated most; it made no sense for him to miss an opportunity like this to deal with him.
There was too little information, and Feng Bqing hadnât sent a single reply, so Su Ze had no way of deducing his mental state.
Just then, Bai Guishouâs phone suddenly vibrated. A new message had arrived!
âIsnât there no signal? How can it still be receiving messages?â
Su Ze suppressed his confusion and looked at the message he had just received. It was a reply from "Vegetable."
It was concise, just two words: "Where at?"
Su Ze was stunned. He was confused about how a phone with no signal could receive a message, and he was shocked that Feng Bqing seemed to have actually regained his senses.
Su Ze took another careful look at the timestamps of the three messages Bai Guishou had sent. Based on his estimate of when he was attacked by Bai Guishou, the last of the three messages must have been sent when Bai Guishou was already inside the Blood Earth Forest.
And there was no signal in the Blood Earth Forest.
Furthermore, Su Ze noticed that Bai Guishouâs phone didnât seem to use a SIM card from any carrier he knew of. In fact, he couldnât even find a card slot on the phone at all.
He did, however, find a small black dot on the back of the phone. He didnât know what material it was, but it was perfectly smooth to the touch and embedded in the phoneâs casing.
âThereâs definitely something up with this phone.â
Su Ze sent his Spiritual Power directly into the phone to investigate. He didnât understand its internal structure, but the moment his Spiritual Power touched the black dot on the back, he seemed to form some kind of connection with the device.
Various icons from the phoneâs interface instantly appeared in his mind: the dialer, messages, and even a chat app icon that wasnât visible on the phoneâs home screen.
âIs this some kind of black technology from the Filth Earth Organization?â
Su Zeâs interest was piqued. With a single thought, the chat app opened.
âIt seems this phone can connect directly with Spiritual Power, allowing it to be operated mentally. And apparently, it doesnât need a signal to communicate.â
Su Ze had no idea how the Filth Earth Organization had managed it, but this was incredibly useful in the wilderness where there was no signal. Plus, being able to chat and text with just your mind, without using your hands or eyes, completely freed up your hands. Thatâs so cool!
âHow come Lin Hua Country hasnât developed a phone like this? If they had, Iâd definitely buy one...â Su Ze shifted his attention to the open chat application.
This was clearly a chat application developed by the Filth Earth Organization for their own internal communication. However, the chat logs within it had also been wiped clean by Bai Guishou.
Only in a group chat named "Heart Towards Darkness" were people still actively chatting.
Su Ze entered the group chat and saw that it didnât have many members. It was probably a private chat group for the higher-ups of the Filth Earth Organization; common grunts werenât qualified to join.
One person with the group nickname "Mr. Kang" was spamming the chat with multiple messages.
[Mr. Kang: Everyone, Mr. Bai Guishou was killed on his mission, and his phone has been lost. I am contacting the leader to have him kicked from the group chat. Please refrain from discussing any confidential topics for the time being to prevent information leaks!]
Someone named Mr. Wo replied, "Canât Bai Guishou resurrect?"
Mr. Kang: "Mr. Bai Guishou is in the process of resurrecting. The resurrection shouldnât be a problem, but his strength might be diminished."
âBai Guishou can resurrect again?â
Su Ze knew that Bai Guishou had resurrected once before, so he wasnât too surprised.
He thought for a moment, then directly used Bai Guishouâs account to post a screenshot in the group. It was a screenshot of Bai Guishouâs contact list, showing only two names: "Idiot Kang" and "Vegetable."
