He thought of the beautiful planet from his past lifeâhis true home.
But the Mother Treeâs answer left him a little disappointed. "I had never heard of humans before coming to Blue Star. Itâs probably because my memories are incomplete. I canât remember many things clearly."
âEven though the Mother Tree said that, Su Ze understood. Even if other humans existed in the universe, they clearly werenât a powerful race. Otherwise, the Mother Tree would have at least some impression of them.â
Su Ze steered the conversation back on topic. "So, youâre telling me all this to say that the Intelligent Races of the universe built the Divine Dice and created these tainted Bloodline Crystals?"
"Thatâs right, but Iâm not certain which of the Intelligent Races it was," the Mother Tree said.
Su Ze pondered for a moment, recalling the "purple-skinned people" and "crystal people" he had seen during the Divine Dice trial.
âHe had always assumed the âpurple-skinned peopleâ built the Divine Dice, and that the âcrystal peopleâ were their enemies.â
âBut now it seemed that both the purple-skinned people and the crystal people were Intelligent Races from the cosmos.â
He described the appearance of the crystal people and the purple-skinned people to the Mother Tree and asked, "Do you know anything about these two races?"
"The âcrystal peopleâ you mentioned are likely the Crystal Race of the cosmos. Their bodies are excellent materials for crafting items that affect the mind, so even though they arenât considered powerful among the Intelligent Races, they are quite well-known."
"As for the âpurple-skinned people,â I canât recall their name, but I know they pledged allegiance to a super-clan, the Witch Race. They are a Vassal Race to the Witches."
"The Witch Race?" Su Zeâs mind immediately jumped to the ancient witch clans from the myths of his past life, and the Wizards from Western stories...
âBut the Witch Race of the cosmos seemed to be completely different from the ones he remembered.â
The Mother Tree explained, "The Witch Race is one of the most gifted Intelligent Races in the universe. They are natural masters of mental power, the darlings of the cosmos. Though few in number, every member of the Witch Race can rival a god upon reaching adulthood!"
"They can rival a god just by reaching adulthood?" Su Ze was floored.
âWhat kind of broken race is that?!â
"They do have their flaws, though. First, they have difficulty reproducing, so their numbers are small. Second, they mature relatively slowly," the Mother Tree added.
âOf course they have to have flaws. Otherwise, the whole universe would belong to the Witches!â
"In that case, the ones who built the Divine Dice must be the âpurple-skinned people,â the Vassal Race of the Witches. I just donât know if they were acting on the Witch Raceâs orders or on their own accord. With their power, it would be easy for them to destroy or enslave Blue Star, wouldnât it? What do you think theyâre after?" Su Ze asked.
"I cannot answer that. If my master were still here, perhaps they could," the Mother Tree said.
"Was your master also one of the Intelligent Races?"
"Yes. Their race, the Tree Spirit Race, is known as the âCosmic Gardeners.â They are born with the ability to communicate with plants and have a natural Plant Affinity."
"Are the Tree Spirit Race powerful in the cosmos?"
"You must understand why theyâre called âCosmic Gardenersâ and not âCosmic Dominatorsâ or âCosmic Sovereignsâ..."
"âA gardener is just a gardener.â"
âI get it... so the Tree Spirit Race is just a third-rate Intelligent Race.â
The more he learned about the cosmos, the more Su Ze felt his own insignificance. He didnât ask any more questions about it. There was no point in knowing too much about things so far beyond his current level.
âHe needed to focus on the here and now, on how to increase his own strength as quickly as possible...â
"How are you going to help me remove the Divine Residual Soul from this Bloodline Crystal?"
"After you leave here, just place the Bloodline Crystal and that jade stone I had you keep under the tree," the Mother Tree said.
Su Ze knew it was referring to the jade stone he had taken from Ye Muni.
"Can you tell if someone is being controlled by a Divine Residual Soul? For example, that sovereign who took a drop of Evolutionary Liquid from you beforeâis he controlled?"
"I cannot."
âAlright...â Su Ze still couldnât be sure if King Mu had been possessed by a Divine Residual Soul.
"Do you have any other questions?" the Mother Tree urged. "If not, Iâm sending you out immediately."
âClearly, the Mother Treeâs patience was wearing thin.â
âFor such a huge tree, it sure has a short fuse.â
"One last question..." Su Ze said quickly. "You mentioned before that you would have a task to entrust to me in the future. Can you tell me what it is now?"
The Mother Tree had said it was looking for someone with the potential to achieve godhood. It had chosen Su Ze for this very reason and promised to tell him the details of its request once he reached the Saint level.
Although Su Ze wasnât at the Saint level yet, he was only a single step away. Once he finished absorbing the extract in his body, he could push for the Saint-level Overlord realm!
âTherefore, he felt he was now qualified to know.â
âThe Mother Treeâs help hadnât come without a price, and he wanted to know exactly what that price was.â
The Mother Tree pondered for a moment. The current Su Ze was indeed just one step away from the Overlord realm, and given his foundation, breaking through to Saint-level Overlord was practically a certainty.
Moreover, it had watched Su Ze kill two Saint-level Overlords by himself inside the spaceship. His strength was already at the Overlord level, so it no longer insisted on waiting.
"The task I have for you is something you can only accomplish after you achieve godhood... and that is to take me back to the cosmos!"
"Back to the cosmos? Thatâs it?" Su Ze was taken aback. "Donât you have a spaceship? Canât it fly through space?"
"Only god-level beings have the ability to traverse the cosmos. The spaceship you saw doesnât have a single Divine-level Spiritual Plant. Itâs composed entirely of tier-six and lower Spiritual Plants. A ship like that can only make short-range flights at best, with no guarantee of safety," the Mother Tree said. "The two Divine-level Spiritual Plants responsible for the shipâs power and defense were both killed in battle, and my master entered a state of suspended animation. Relying on just me, a fragmented âWonder,â a long-distance cosmic voyage is impossible."
