Led by Lin Tiannan, Su Ze and the others left Mr. Keâs small courtyard and headed for the Lin Familyâs treasury.
Mr. Ke sat in his wheelchair, pushed by Lin Yutong. Since this concerned the legacy of Lin Huaâs Legend, the old man naturally didnât want to miss it.
Lin Luo seemed very excited. He never thought heâd be lucky enough to witness such a moment. The box left behind by Lin Huaâs Legend had been passed down in the Lin Family for several hundred years, becoming a mystery that had plagued them for centuries.
"We really have you to thank for this, Mr. Su," Lin Luo said, casually slinging an arm over Su Zeâs shoulder. "It seems youâre truly fated to be connected with the Lin Family."
Su Zeâs expression shifted slightly. He lowered his voice and asked, "Mr. Lin, does everyone in the Lin Family know that Lin Huaâs Legend only faked his death?"
"Well..." Lin Luo smiled and shook his head. "Itâs something of an open secret in Lin Hua Country, actually. There have always been rumors among the public, and even online, saying our ancestor Lin Hua didnât die but left to pursue a higher level of existence."
Su Ze nodded. Heâd heard such rumors before, but with no evidence and so much misinformation online, he had always taken them with a grain of salt.
Lin Luo continued, "But in reality, the direct descendants of the Lin Family, as well as the upper echelons of Lin Hua Country, all know the rumors are true."
Lin Yutong chimed in from the side, "The rumors arenât entirely true. In fact, we know from our ancestorsâ diaries that when our ancestor Lin Hua first renounced his sovereign title, he was actually trying to find our ancestor, Qiu Tingyun. He scoured almost the entire Blue Star and even returned to the Lin Family a few times during his search."
"Only after searching the entire Blue Star without finding a single clue did our ancestor Lin Hua finally give up. He then dedicated himself to pursuing a higher level of existence. At the time, he seemed to have made some headway on breaking through to the God-tier. After leaving that box with the Lin Family, he departed and never returned."
âSo that means the Lin Family doesnât know whatâs become of Lin Huaâs Legend either?â
Lin Huaâs Legend was even older than Mr. Ke. Su Ze figured that if he hadnât become a god, he had likely already perished.
Mr. Ke, from his wheelchair, suddenly sent a telepathic message to the group. "Back then, the Marshal had only one person he cared for and one goal he pursued. The person was, of course, Mr. Qiu, and his goal was a higher level of existence. Itâs just that breaking through to the God-tier is incredibly difficult on Blue Star. He had finally found a glimmer of hope, so I urged him to go and chase it. A man like him shouldnât have been left to die, trapped on Blue Star."
âItâs hard to become a god on Blue Star? But according to Mother Tree, you canât leave Blue Star unless you become one. This sounds like a dead end...â
Soon, they arrived at the Lin Familyâs treasury.
The treasury was built inside the Lin Familyâs main residence, right next to Lin Tiannanâs bedroom. This meant it was effectively guarded day and night by a Venerable Powerhouse. And with a legend like Mr. Ke watching over the family, no one would dare get any ideas.
Although Mr. Ke looked frail, as if he could draw his last breath at any moment, Su Ze didnât dare to underestimate him in the slightest.
He knew that a sleeping lion slumbered within that frail body!
Lin Tiannan opened the great doors to the treasury and led the way inside. Su Ze and the others followed close behind.
As soon as he stepped into the Lin Familyâs treasury, Su Ze couldnât help but marvel. It was far more magnificent than the Dongli National Treasury.
The Dongli National Treasury was just a large iron box, whereas the Lin Familyâs treasury was built like a palace.
The space was larger and brightly lit. While it didnât hold as many items as the Dongli National Treasury, everything inside was of the highest quality.
The Dongli National Treasury was cluttered with a jumble of low-tier Evolution Items. The Lin Familyâs treasury, by contrast, was immaculate. Even its low-tier Evolution Items were rare finds.
For an ancient family like the Lin Family, the phrase "wealth to rival a nation" was no mere exaggeration.
"My young friend," Lin Tiannan said, his gaze on Su Ze. "I promised you could choose any three materials of tier-five or below from the treasury. Please, go ahead and make your selection now."
"Thereâs no rush to pick out the materials," Su Ze said. "Why donât you open the box first?"
"The box is right here; itâs not going anywhere. You pick your materials first," Lin Tiannan insisted.
âIs he doing this because heâs afraid something incredible might be in the box, and he wants to give me my promised reward before opening it?â
Su Ze correctly guessed Lin Tiannanâs thinking. If the box truly contained some priceless treasure, the Lin Family would be too embarrassed to charge him if he decided to take something extra from the treasury later on.
But by settling the reward now, they would only have to give Su Ze the three materials as promised.
Since the Lin Family was offering him three materials of tier-five or below, he would definitely only pick from tier-five. Heâd choose the most valuable ones, not necessarily the most suitable; even if he couldnât use them, he would select them first.
As for any useful tier-four materials, he could simply pay extra to buy them.
Su Ze stopped declining and went to the area of the treasury where the tier-five materials were stored.
This section was a long corridor. The walls on both sides were lined with two long rows of metal shelves displaying various materials.
The moment he stepped into the corridor, he felt a resonance and was overjoyed. âLooks like thereâs an upgrade material for me here!â
Maintaining a neutral expression, he walked forward, lightly running his palm over the various materials. A few of them exerted a faint pull; they were all enhancement materials that would be useful to him.
However, he didnât take those items, continuing his search for an upgrade material that exerted a much stronger pull.
Soon, he reached the end of the corridor, which opened into a small room. Items were displayed on all four walls; on the left were various curios, and on the right were extracts.
Lin Tiannan reminded him from behind, "My young friend, the tier-five materials are all on both sides of this corridor. There are no materials in there."
