Chapter 598: Chapter 407 Blood Queen Angela_4
The cityâs architecture was distributed across the slopes on either side of the valley in a beautiful, disorganized manner, with a good portion built into the mountainside as if they were an extension of nature itself. The buildings rose and fell with the terrain, high and low, hidden and visible, forming a picturesque landscape. The homes on the mountainside were charmingly arranged, complementing the emerald forest, displaying a harmonious coexistence. Meanwhile, the cobblestone steps and wooden walkways on the mountain paths seemed to place one within an antique landscape painting.
Acot City was said to have been built by humans, yet its overall architectural style was closer to the unique style created by the elves within the forest.
The city didnât even have protective walls, largely due to its unique geographical location which made it nearly impossible for an organized army to reach.
However, even without walls, there were still City Guard Armies. They had established outposts on several of the cityâs main roads to protect the city while also collecting entry taxes from travelers and caravans.
After paying the city entry tax, Lis turned to Cecil and asked,
âFinally, weâve reached our destination. Any idea where that Elf Elder you mentioned might be?â
âThe Elves have a special stationing area within Acot City.â
Cecil looked around at the city curiously, her green eyes filled with nostalgia.
It had been a long time since she last returned to the Elf Forest, and everything in Acot City reminded her of her homeland.
Despite many unpleasant memories, she still deeply missed her parentsâ tenderness and tolerance.
After a moment of reflection, Cecil pointed to a striking green tower on the mountainside, which was even positioned at the same level as the palaces of the Acot City Royal Family.
âThat should be the stationing area of the Elf Kingdom in Acot City.â
âThe Elf Elder from the Elf Royal Court is likely to be there.â
âAlright, letâs head there.â
Lis nodded and walked towards that place.
Cecil felt grateful. Based on the commission, Lis had already safely escorted her from Nelin City to Acot City, fulfilling the agreement.
Lis could have ended the commission here and left, but he didnât.
Perhaps Lord Lis truly considered her a friend?
Although she didnât know what Lis was thinking, Cecilâs heart swelled with appreciation.
Lis didnât pay attention to Cecilâs thoughts; he was quite curious about the Elf Elder he was going to meet.
Even if Cecil refused, Lis wouldâve followed her anyway.
Leisurely picking up some local special juices, fruit cuts, and grilled fish from a stall by the road, Lis found the flavors to be rather good.
Most importantly, the ingredients were fresh!
Lis nodded and, after purchasing some additional fruits he liked and placing them into his storage ring, he followed Cecil across the city to the Elf Station.
The architectural style of the Elves was somewhat similar to the white-robed monksâ temples from Lisâs former life, with most buildings featuring characteristic domes and spires.
In the architectural style of the Elves, the spires reaching straight into the sky represented adoration for the Main God, Correlon Larysian, symbolizing His supreme power and status.
All the guards within the Elf Station were Elves, too. Upon learning of Cecilâs purpose, they were somewhat surprised but quickly invited Lis and Cecil to wait in the stationâs guest room while they hastily notified the Elder Illiser.
Lis sat idly in a wicker armchair, but secretly he spread his spiritual power, carefully avoiding the protective array of the station, gathering information from his surroundings.
At that moment, footsteps were heard.
An elderly figure dressed in a white robe embroidered with golden patterns and leaning on a cane walked slowly into the room, looking at Lis and Cecil.
