"However, directly entering the Underground City is somewhat too dangerous."
Zachary furrowed his brow, speaking with some helplessness:
"Since it is almost certain that Evil God believers are involved, we have to face the danger behind this incident."
"In a dangerous and mysterious place like the Underground City, anything could happen. We might as well wait for the associationâs support to arrive."
"I donât see any difference."
Uleer shook his head, smiling as he looked at Zachary:
"Even if the associationâs support arrives, what difference does it make? Unless we decide to hold this area and fight a war of attrition, we must enter the Underground City to resolve this matter."
"By then, it will still fall on us Legends to take action."
"Unless you think the association should deploy a Floating City, or call back a Chairman because of this incident."
"Indeed, thatâs true."
Natalie nodded in agreement with Uleeerâs viewpoint.
"Too hasty..."
Zachary wanted to object; he couldnât help feeling that proceeding like this could be dangerous, but couldnât find a reason to oppose Uleer.
After all, what Uleer said was indeed the truth.
Now, solving this incident could only rely on them, the Legendary Members.
"Of course, Zacharyâs concerns are also valid."
Uleer glanced at Zachary, nodding as he said:
"Letâs bring a few more people into the Underground City this time so we can look out for each other."
"The rest can guard the entrance."
"Alright."
"I have no objections."
...
Uleer glanced around at the present Legendary Members, and his gaze finally fell on Lis, who had been silent throughout.
At this moment, Lis was leisurely enjoying the tea in his hand, occasionally eating a piece of pastry.
As if the discussion had nothing to do with him at all.
"Lord Lis, what is your opinion?"
"I have no opinion."
Confronted with Uleerâs inquiry, Lis replied with a smile.
"Uh...what?"
Uleer did not expect such an answer from Lis, momentarily at a loss for words.
Watching Uleerâs astonished expression, Lis put down his teacup and said:
"I havenât forgotten, that while I was away, it seemed like someone was targeting the âSource of All Magicâ, right?"
"Now that the situation here is under control, Iâm planning to return to the association to deal with this matter."
"Since you, Uleer, seem well prepared, you shouldnât need me, right?"
When Lis mentioned this, several nearby Legendary Members looked somewhat uncomfortable.
They all knew about this matter naturally.
Even if they didnât attend the Legendary Council meeting themselves, they had learned about it through other channels.
The proposal targeting the âSource of All Magicâ was clear-cut for them.
Previously, Lis should have been in the Underground City, possibly unaware of the situation.
But after leaving the Underground City, he likely became informed about it.
At this point, as Lis prepared to return to the association, everyone else had to hold their tongue.
"Lord Lis, among those present, you are the most powerful, and as a World Tree Favored, you are also more familiar with the Evil God believers."
After thinking for a moment, Uleer sincerely said to Lis:
"Though I know itâs a bit presumptuous, I still hope you can join this exploration of the Underground City."
"I believe this would be very important for the entire association."
"With so many members here, what difference does it make if Iâm here or not?"
Lis looked amiably at Uleer, continuing:
"I think the âSource of All Magicâ needs me more right now!"
"Lord Lis..."
As Uleer tried to continue persuading Lis, the rest watched quietly.
"If youâre willing to help, I believe the âLie Cocoonâ would support you on that matter!"
"Oh?"
Lis looked at Uleer, his expression inexplicable:
"Willing to pay such a price, what do you want?"
Startled by Lisâs words but retaining composure, Uleer replied:
"For the âLie Cocoonâ, and for myself."
"The âLie Cocoonâ has invested a lot in this Underground City exploration; both the leader and I want to resolve this matter quickly."
"This exploration is led by me, and I donât want to drag it out."
"Lord Lis, your strength should be the best among those present, not inferior to our leader âMist Reciterâ Murphy, and well-acquainted with the Evil God believers."
"So, I seek your assistance."
"If that is the case, itâs doable."
Lis nodded, seemingly persuaded by Uleer.
"But if you intend to deceive me, be prepared for the consequences."
"Of course, once this incident concludes, I believe with the âLie Cocoonâsâ help, that proposal wonât pass."
...
At the Underground City entrance,
Lis and Uleer casually dispatched the Magic Beasts emerging from the entrance, preparing to enter the Underground City.
Beside them were three other Legendary Members: the âIce Queen,â Natalie; âDecipherer,â Trevor; and âShadow Flame Dominator,â Boyd.
As the sun gradually set, deep rumbles echoed from the depths of the dark Underground City, like the roars of an ancient beast awakened.
Then, more and more emerald eyes gleamed in the darkness, and various abominable Magic Beasts surged from the Underground Cityâs passage, baring fangs and exuding terrifying ferocity.
With the arrival of darkness, these beasts shed their last fears, charging out of the Underground City entrance.
Suddenly, the number of beasts increased severalfold!
This was the objective of Lis and the others.
For finding the source of the Magic Beasts, naturally it required being at their greatest number for accuracy.
At that moment, facing the overwhelming Magic Beast Tide, Lis and the others gently raised their hands, chanting Spells.
Then, brilliant magical light blossomed at their fingertips.
Fire Dragons, Ice Cones, and lightning streaked through the sky, striking the surging Magic Beasts with precision, instantly reducing them to ashes or ice.
The cries of the beasts and the roaring of magic detonations intertwined, composing a thrilling battle anthem.
After repelling the first wave, Lis and company moved on without pause, stepping over the piled corpses, boldly advancing deeper into the Underground City.
The passages were narrow and twisty; the mass of Magic Beasts seemed more crowded, carelessly rushing upward.
As if an invisible force was driving them, completely ignoring adjacent paths, solely intent on breaking free and rushing to the surface.
The Legendary Members knew that real threats lay deeper.
They quickened their pace, continuously casting powerful Spells to clear the blocking beasts ahead.
Flame Storms swept through, devouring beasts; Ice Domains spread, freezing all frozen; and mysterious Enchantment Control Techniques misled some Magic Beasts, triggering infighting.
Every move demonstrated the Legendary Magesâ extreme mastery of magic and profound understanding of combat.
However, as time went on, instead of decreasing, more waves of beasts swarmed.
Among them were enormous, formidable Legendary Demon Beasts.
Even for Lis and the others, it was no small challenge.
The pressure of battle suddenly increased, tension and apprehension permeating the air.
In this critical moment, Lis took a deep breath, raising the Magic Wand, softly chanting a more complex Spell.
As the Spell completed, a dark gray stream surrounded him, quickly enveloping them all.
In an instant, they disappeared into the Shadow, leaving only an empty corridor and bewildered Magic Beast Group.
