Chapter 707: Terror River

*Splash splash…*

A ship continued sailing across the river’s surface, with Yan Hua standing at the deck.

She had come aboard following orders, primarily to observe how far the ship could travel.

"The wind blowing over feels so comfortable." Yan Hua sighed with her eyes closed.

Yan Hua quite enjoyed this sensation. This was the feeling of freedom without constraint.

Perhaps it was her first time aboard a ship, which made the experience particularly different. She had never imagined she could stand on the water’s surface.

Even relying on the ship’s power felt remarkable. Ordinary wooden planks could not possibly allow her to remain on the water like this.

The Ferocious Beasts in the river could tear her to shreds. However, with the ship, everything was different. The large ship provided her with tremendous security.

Even if Ferocious Beasts appeared, she had sufficient space to respond.

"We’ve been out for a whole day already. Should we prepare to return?" Long worried.

He did not know exactly how far his ship could sail; he was simply concerned about potential shipwreck.

"We haven’t reached the seaside yet. We cannot return without reaching the seaside. We must complete the mission the Shaman has assigned to us." Yan Hua said seriously.

She was not worried about the ship sinking. Perhaps she had some concerns when it first launched, but she now appeared much more composed.

"I’m just very concerned this ship might develop problems." Long kept pacing in circles.

He alternately examined the railings and the deck. He had been inspecting everything since waking up this morning. Although the ship had been checked many times during construction, his heart remained somewhat uneasy.

Testing near the Tribe would be acceptable. After all, if they fell into the water, at least someone could come to rescue them.

But now they had travelled a considerable distance from the Tribe, and the river was becoming increasingly wide.

If the ship developed problems at this point and they fell into the river, death would be certain.

"Haven’t you been inspecting the ship these past two days? Haven’t you found no problem whatsoever? So, what’s the worry?" Yan Hua said.

Yan Hua did not understand why he was so nervous. Why does he not trust his own creation?

"I have inspected it, true, but now look at how wide this great river is. I can’t help but feel concerned." Long did not even dare look directly at the river.

"Haha!" Yan Hua covered her mouth and laughed, saying. "I wondered what it was. So, you’re afraid of the river!"

This was her first time hearing such a thing, though it was perfectly normal. What kind of Ferocious Beasts did not exist in the great river? Having reservations about it was natural.

"I’m worried that falling in at this point would be disastrous. We’re so far from the Tribe – no one would come to rescue us." Long thought about it and shivered.

Originally he had not wanted to accompany this expedition, but to test the ship’s sailing speed and distance, he needed to go. He understood this ship better than anyone, he had to come along in case something happened that required his response.

"Don’t worry. You go stay in the cabin. Leave the outside to me." Yan Hua volunteered.

Yan Hua still preferred being outside. Except for eating and sleeping when she entered the cabin, she spent all other time on deck.

"Then, I’ll leave the outside to you. I’ll go check the interior situation first." Long walked away without looking back.

"Does he really look like someone who’s fished at sea? I find that rather hard to believe." Yan Hua smiled and shook her head.

Upon reflection, perhaps when he was with the Sea Fish Tribe, he had only been responsible for making wood rafts and might never have actually fished at sea.

"The path ahead is completely clear with no obstructions." Ai’er folded her wings and landed on the deck.

She had just gone ahead to scout, also checking how much longer until they reached the Sea Fish Tribe.

Besides testing how many days it took to reach the seaside, they also wanted to visit the Sea Fish Tribe.

This voyage carried many supplies and personnel, all intending to assist the Sea Fish Tribe.

"Did you see the Sea Fish Tribe? And did you see the ocean?" Yan Hua asked curiously.

"I did not fly particularly high and that far. I just observed the nearby area ahead. After we finish lunch, I’ll fly further." Ai’er squeezed her wings.

She had flown all last night observing the surrounding environment, so her wings were rather tired from beating.

"That’s fine. Why don’t you have an afternoon nap first? You seemed to sleep poorly last night." Yan Hua showed concern.

"Then I’ll sleep a while. Keep watch here, and I’ll relieve you when I wake up." Ai’er blinked her purple eyes.

"Go quickly. There are others here as well." Yan Hua waved her hand.

Besides Ai’er, this expedition included other Totem Warriors, though not many in number.

Just three additional members: Ah Zhen, Mai Mao, and Ge, who came along for mutual support.

"Ah’Hua, why don’t you rest as well? You’ve been standing for quite a long time since morning." Ah Zhen showed concern.

"That’s alright. I don’t feel tired at all. Don’t you think standing here watching the ship continuously advance feels wonderful?" Yan Hua asked.

"It is very comfortable, but we must watch our surroundings and might not be able to constantly observe ahead." Ge said seriously.

They were primarily responsible for standing at the port and starboard sides, with one stationed at the stern, monitoring the surrounding environment.

This prevented Ferocious Beasts from suddenly emerging from the river surface, which would be extremely dangerous.

*Splash splash…* Just as everyone finished speaking, sounds of something skimming the water surface arose.

Yan Hua and the others immediately straightened, drawing the Crocodile Blades they carried.

Everyone stood back-to-back, watching the river surface and ready to respond to this sudden situation.

"Everyone be careful! Seems like Ferocious Beasts are approaching!" Yan Hua warned.

"But isn’t the ship hung with many plants? Logically, they shouldn’t be able to tolerate the scent." Ah Zhen watched the river surface vigilantly.

"Those only make them less likely to approach; they can’t completely prevent all Ferocious Beasts from seeing the ship and approaching." Yan Hua speculated.

This was precisely why they patrolled the ship, to prevent such situations.

"Anything that would attack our large ship must be a large Ferocious Beast."

Ge frowned and continued. "I just hope they don’t attack the ship first. Falling into the water would be no joke."

"I’ll prepare the recurve bow. The moment it surfaces, I’ll attack! We absolutely cannot let it damage the ship!" Mai Mao immediately said.

"We should all prepare recurve bows rather than engage in close combat." Yan Hua suggested.

"I agree." Ah Zhen immediately set down his Crocodile Blade.
