Chapter 743: Total Annihilation?
I Became The Chief of A Primitive Village
In the Dark Scorpion TribeâŠ
"Still no news after all this time? Whatâs going on?" Chen Shaoâs face was dark with displeasure.
He had been waiting for news for a considerable time, yet until now there had been no information whatsoever about the personnel previously dispatched.
"I donât know either, Shaman. By all accounts they should have returned by now, I really donât know why they havenât." Li Ya shook his head repeatedly.
Even he, the intelligence officer, had received no information, let alone the Shaman who had remained in the Dark Scorpion Tribe all along.
"Could something have happened?" Chen Shao straightened in his seat.
He had a nagging feeling that matters were not so simple. The snow season had passed quite some time ago. Even if they had been delayed on the road, they should have arrived long since. So many months had passed, yet still no word had come.
Chen Shaoâs thoughts began turning towards darker possibilities. If there truly was a problem, the Flame Dragon Tribe might prove difficult to deal with.
"That shouldnât be possible. Zhu and Feng are both famously capable members of the Tribe. There couldnât be any mistakes, could there?" Li Yaâs voice lacked conviction even as he spoke these words.
He was not entirely certain. However, calculating by the timeline, it had indeed been too long. They should have arrived ages ago.
Moreover, the two people dispatched could be described as exceedingly capable individuals from the Dark Scorpion Tribe. Not once had any mission assigned to them ended in failure. Almost every task had been completed beyond expectations.
If following the normal schedule, news should have been sent back last month. Even if the opposition proved difficult to handle, there should have been word by last month.
If the Flame Dragon Tribe were easy to deal with, it wouldnât take this long at all. Since it had dragged on for so long, it meant the other party was genuinely troublesome.
However, no matter how troublesome, they had exceeded the scheduled time far too much. This inevitably led oneâs imagination to run wild.
"No matter how capable someone is, there are times when they make mistakes. Moreover, with so much time having passed, thereâs no need to say more. Theyâve definitely encountered problems." Chen Shao spoke gravely.
Anyone could see clearly that with so much time having elapsed without any news being transmitted back, problems had certainly arisen.
"Shaman, what do we do now? These two such capable people have both been discovered by the Flame Dragon Tribe. Should we dispatch some people to eliminate that Tribe?" Li Ya asked immediately.
Although his mind had entertained the possibility that they had been discovered and dealt with by the Flame Dragon Tribe.
However, on second thought, these two were extremely capable members of the Tribe. The probability of something going wrong was surely low.
At most, the most likely scenario was encountering some High Grade Ferocious Beasts in the forest, such as King Blood or Ancient Blood Ferocious Beasts.
But according to those two peopleâs capabilities, even if they encountered such Ferocious Beasts, if they joined forces, they should at least be able to escape death.
"This Flame Dragon Tribe is rather interesting. I wonder if any problems have occurred with the Tribes under our control." Chen Shao thought carefully.
After all, his instructions at the time were for those two people to first investigate the Flame Dragon Tribe. If they discovered any connection to the disappearance of the Black Snake Tribe.
Then they should contact the surrounding Tribes to collectively suppress the Flame Dragon Tribe, taking this opportunity to reclaim the Flame Dragon Tribe.
However, so much time had passed and still they had transmitted no news. The probability was high that this plan had failed.
Since this plan had failed, Chen Shao was naturally concerned about the Tribes surrounding the Flame Dragon Tribe.
Those were Tribes seized through considerable painstaking effort and energy. It would be unfortunate if the Flame Dragon Tribe benefited from them.
"If those two have failed, then itâs highly likely the other Tribes have encountered problems as well." Li Ya said.
If those two had truly discovered something amiss with the Flame Dragon Tribe and thus sought help from other Tribes.
Combined with the timeline dragging on so long without news returning, it also meant those Tribes had certainly encountered problems.
"It seems we underestimated the Flame Dragon Tribe. We didnât expect their strength to be so formidable."
Chen Shaoâs expression was ugly indeed. He said regretfully. "We should have dispatched more people at the time. We were truly somewhat careless."
He had been thinking that the people previously dispatched had never encountered problems and moreover had achieved success every time.
So, this time he had not taken it too seriously either, dispatching the corresponding number of people as usual.
Originally planning to spend the snow season leisurely in the Tribe, thinking that good news would arrive after the snow season. Unexpectedly, no news had come at all.
The Black Snake Tribe counted as one of the larger Tribes amongst those he had. Suddenly losing it would certainly be painful.
He had originally wanted to use it to properly develop the surrounding Small Tribes.
"Shaman, letâs dispatch more people this time. I refuse to believe that the Flame Dragon Tribe can withstand them." Li Ya spoke seriously.
"Are you particularly knowledgeable about warfare?" Chen Shaoâs face darkened somewhat as he looked at the other man.
Li Ya instantly lowered his head, his voice immediately growing quieter. "Shaman, I wouldnât dare."
He was merely an intelligence officer, after all. Naturally he wasnât knowledgeable about warfare.
"Use your intelligence network. Help me gather information and see exactly whatâs going on with the Flame Dragon Tribe."
Chen Shao paused, then continued instructing: "Also check whether the Tribes surrounding the Flame Dragon Tribe are all right. We cannot lose both the Black Snake Tribe and those Small Tribes."
He had no regrets whatsoever about those two peopleâs deaths. His only regret was for those Small Tribes.
Originally he had let the Small Tribes stay put, then slowly develop until they grew. They could not all be annihilated because of the Flame Dragon Tribe, right?
"Yes, Iâll have them transmit the information back immediately. I will definitely provide the Shaman with the best intelligence in short order." Li Ya responded at once.
He had originally thought they were about to go to war. He felt somewhat relieved instantly, since he wouldnât need to continue gathering intelligence after all. They could simply lead people to crush the Flame Dragon Tribe directly.
Actually, intelligence gathering was his primary duty. However, after the incident with Feng and Zhu, he was somewhat frightened to some degree.
"There had better truly be news coming back. Donât let this situation happen again." Chen Shaoâs tone was razor-sharp.
The people of the Dark Scorpion Tribe originally dyed their teeth very black and had many black patterns on their bodies.
Naturally the Shaman of the Dark Scorpion Tribe carried weight when speaking. Combined with that gloomy face, he was all the more fearsome.
"Shaman, I will definitely have those people conceal their movements well. Donât be too anxious just yet. This way the probability of problems arising is quite low." Li Ya said immediately.
"If problems arise again this time, you neednât continue living here. You know the Tribe doesnât support those idle and useless." Chen Shaoâs tone remained exceedingly cold.
Though merely a casual statement, it made the listenerâs spine instantly run cold.
"I understand." Li Ya slowly withdrew from the wooden house.
