Su Bai considered carefully for a long while before raising his head to ask, "Besides you, are there others with this condition?"
He did not understand what this was. Turning to look at the girls beside him, they all shook their heads indicating they too did not know.
Yan Hua and Sha Lanās Fathers and Mothers were both Elders of the Tribe. They should know something about such matters. However, since the two girls both shook their heads, this meant that even the Chieftain might not necessarily know about this.
"I donāt know about others, but I only know Iām like this. When I first awakened, my Tribe was already being invaded." A trace of sorrow flashed through Ban Yeās eyes. This sudden recollection brought memories of the Tribeās tragic destruction.
"Was your awakening ceremony different? Was it the same as what youād previously observed?" Su Bai continued asking.
He felt matters were not so simple. That accumulated mass in the otherās body seemed like a living organism. Moreover, this organism seemed to survive by depending on Totem Power. Once Totem Power activated, they would spread to other areas.
"The awakening ceremony⦠was the same as what Iād previously seen. Each yearās awakening ceremony was similar." Ban Ye considered carefully before asking curiously, "Shaman, is there something inside my body?"
Seeing Su Baiās peculiar gaze and exceptionally serious facial expressionā¦
The young man immediately recalled the pain when activating Totem Power. Connecting this with the otherās gaze, an ominous premonition instantly arose.
"I suspect whatās in your body was placed there by your Shaman, though this is merely my own theory and shouldnāt be taken as fact." Su Bai furrowed his brow, continuing to ask, "First tell me, what was your awakening ceremony like?"
He did not want to draw conclusions hastily. He needed to understand the full circumstances first.
"The Shaman placed something in my body?" Ban Yeās expression did not seem particularly surprised, as if this were quite ordinary.
He only briefly hesitated before immediately resuming normal expression, afterwards seeming to ponder something.
"Our annual awakening ceremony also occurred after eternal night ended. The Chieftain would assemble qualified Warrior Traineesā¦" Ban Yeās expression remained serious throughout. "But, now that I think about it, thereās one puzzling point. Ordinary people were never allowed to attend awakening ceremonies."
"Judging by your expression, you donāt seem surprised by what I said. Does this confirm my thoughts?" Su Bai found matters increasingly intriguing.
"Shaman, you might be right. During awakening ceremonies, the Shaman would have us drink special secret medicines. I later asked Totem Warriors from other Tribes about this."
Ban Ye paused for quite a while before his somewhat cracked lips slowly parted. "They didnāt drink medicine during awakening ceremonies, and all people of the Tribe attended."
Being a Wanderer at the time, he had only focused on filling his stomach daily, without excess mental capacity for such thoughts. He had also thought perhaps each Tribe had different customs. Over time, he had not taken this matter seriously.
But hearing Su Baiās words now, he felt those previous decisions were highly problematic. This might explain why his heart always ached terribly when activating his Totem Power.
Now, forget hunting, mere survival required tremendous effort.
"Drinking secret medicine?" Su Baiās brow furrowed. Heād never heard of this before.
He turned towards Yan Hua. She responded with a head shake.
"Drinking secret medicine? I seem to have heard about this somewhere," Ye Jiuās grey eyes flashed with familiarity.
"Youāve heard of it?" Su Bai looked towards the wolf eared girl.
"Yes, Shaman. I seem to have heard about it. When wandering before, I often heard some Shamans would give Warrior Trainees secret medicine to control them." Ye Jiuās brow furrowed slightly. "But I found it unrealistic at the time and didnāt take this matter to heart."
"Making Warrior Trainees drink secret medicine? To control them? But Warriors normally obey their Shaman anyway?" Displeasure crossed Sha Lanās delicate face. "Thereās no need for such actions. It feels rather pointless, and doing so would restrict the Warriorsā strength."
Sha Lan felt that Shaman was crossing the line, willing to impair their Tribeās Warriors just to control them.
"It seems many matters remain unknown to us. So, this might not be impossible." Su Bai reflected thoughtfully.
Having investigated Ban Yeās bodily condition and heard Ye Jiuās words, he felt this matter quite possibly existed.
"Shaman, what was their Tribeās Shaman thinking? Why do this? This does not benefit the Warriors at all."
Yan Hua looked utterly naive, continuing to ask, "Doing so only affects the Warriorsā strength. I think this must be why their Tribeās Warriors couldnāt defeat those invaders."
Yan Hua felt if this matter was true, those people truly deserved it!
"Hard to say for certain. Perhaps that Tribeās Shaman was already bought off, or threatened, or something similar." Su Bai cupped his chin with one hand, continuing to explain, "Or perhaps preparing for some future plan. We temporarily donāt know."
He felt matters were not so simple. Many secrets unknown to others were definitely hidden behind this.
"Shaman, can my body still be saved? Can the pain be removed?" Ban Ye did not understand these matters. He just wanted to be saved.
The most important matter now was removing the internal accumulation, otherwise it would severely impact his strength.
"This isnāt difficult, but first tell me, what exactly happened to your Tribe at that time?" Su Bai now wanted to clarify the situation. Though the other apparently knew little, any information helped.
"We were hunting outside as usual. However, when we returned to the Tribe, our Tribe had already been attacked." Sorrow flowed through Ban Yeās eyes. "The people attacking our Tribe were still there, so we were continuously hunted. In the endā¦"
He recounted events in great detail, including how many Wanderer Tribes he had subsequently sought refuge with.
"It seems the plan hadnāt yet been completed before meeting destruction," Su Bai nodded calmly.
