With anger simmering in his chest, Lin Mo stormed straight to Liu Yueâs office and pushed the door open without so much as a knock.
Inside, Liu Yue was holding her phone, her fingers dancing across the screen as a sweet smile bloomed on her face, full of happiness and warmth. Startled by the sudden intrusion, she glanced up, visibly displeased.
âDo you not understand basic manners anymore?â she scolded, her voice sharp with irritation. But when she saw the mess Lin Mo was inâsoaked, disheveled, and red-facedâshe froze in surprise. âYou⊠what happened to you?â
âI went to Class 113 to teach, and that bastard Wang Haoran rigged a water bucket over the door, smeared something disgusting on the computer tower, slathered glue on the chair, and even got a bunch of students to throw chalk at my back,â Lin Mo rattled off the accusations one by one, voice brimming with fury.
Liu Yue frowned slightly. âAre you sure it was him?â
âI donât even know anyone else in that class,â Lin Mo said without hesitation. âHeâs the only one Iâve had a conflict with. It couldnât have been anyone else.â
Liu Yue didnât argue the point. She remembered Wang Haoran coming to her before about the lecture arrangements, though she hadnât agreed to anything. After a moment of silent thought, she said, âIâll have a private word with him.â
âA private word?â Lin Mo stared at her, stunned. Then he pushed, clearly unwilling to let it slide. âHe broke classroom rules and attacked a teacher. A student like that should be expelled!â
Liu Yueâs expression grew complicated. She knew Wang Haoranâs actions were beyond inappropriate, but what could she realistically do? He was her seventh sisterâs boyfriend, and more importantly, her so-called âhusbandâsâ disciple.
If she went to the administration and pushed for expulsion, it wouldnât be long before her sister and that man came knocking on her door to cause trouble. This was a mess she had no intention of stepping into.
âExpelling him is too harsh. Iâll handle it in another way,â she replied vaguely, trying to defuse the situation.
âWhat do you plan to do then?â Lin Mo pressed, clearly unwilling to drop it.
âThese students are getting out of hand. Iâll have them self-study during this period. As for Wang Haoran, Iâll make him clean the entire classroom. If anythingâs been damaged, heâll have to pay for it,â Liu Yue declared, delivering her so-called punishment.
âThatâs it?â Lin Mo blinked, stunned. That wasnât a punishment at all. Cleaning? He could have someone else do it for him. As for paying damagesâchalk and a chair didnât cost a thing.
âAs a teacher, you should show some tolerance. Be more magnanimous,â Liu Yue said in a tone that left no room for argument. âItâs his first offense, so letâs not be too harsh.â
âAlso, letâs postpone your lecture for now. Iâll deal with those students and get their attitudes straight before considering your return to the classroom.â
With that, she waved him off like she was ushering out an unwelcome guest. âJust look at yourself. Hurry back to the faculty dorm and clean up.â
âClass is still in session, so there arenât many people outside. But if the bell rings and students start coming out and see you like this, how embarrassing would that be? Go, quickly.â
Lin Mo clenched his jaw, feeling deeply wronged.
He didnât agree with most of what Liu Yue had said, but one thing she mentioned hit homeâhe really did need to go clean himself up while the halls were still empty.
If even one person saw him walking around with his rear exposed and his underwear peeking out, he might die of shame on the spot.
Facing Liu Yue directly, she hadnât seen the full extent of his humiliation. Wanting to salvage the last shred of dignity in front of his goddess, Lin Mo backed out of the room slowly, never turning his back to her.
But the moment he stepped into the hallway, he realized how pointless that was.
Liu Yue didnât even glance up. After dismissing him, her eyes were already locked on her phone again, her face blooming once more with that warm, glowing smile.
âSheâs texting her boyfriend, huh?â Lin Mo guessed to himself with a bitter chuckle.
Aside from that, there really wasnât another explanation for her strange behavior today.
No wonder she suddenly canceled her plan to observe his class. She was not swamped with work, but was busy flirting on her phone.
In his memory, Liu Yue had always been someone who took her work extremely seriously. But now she was abandoning her responsibilities over personal matters.
Clearly, this boyfriend of hers meant a lot to her.
Realizing this, Lin Mo felt a wave of quiet gloom settle over his heart.
This wall heâd set his sights on⊠seemed much harder to knock down than he had imagined.
Inside the classroom, after Lin Mo stormed out in a rage, the students sat ramrod straight, stiff with tension, afraid he might come back with Professor Liu.
But as the period dragged on and no one showed up, they finally relaxed.
Wang Haoran, as usual, remained calm the entire time. A few minutes after class ended, he found a reason to casually wrap up his chat with Liu Yue.
Then he summoned Liu Hua, Lu Ming, and Wei Zhihang, gathering them around as he gave a few quiet instructions.
From now on, they were to keep a close eye on Lin Mo.
Lin Moâs Protagonist Halo was over 3,000. Compared to Lin Chen, this guy was practically a walking treasure trove. He could leech off him for a long time.
More importantly, Lin Mo was just a teaching assistant at Qingling University, which meant his entire activity range was confined to the school grounds. That made him far easier to target than the other protagonists out there.
After classes ended for the day, Wang Haoran left campus and made his way back to the villa, looking forward to a meal prepared by Feng Anna.
On the way, he received a call from Yu Ning.
âYoung Master, Yan Yuntian has regained consciousness. Yan Feipeng just arrived at the hospital from out of town and is speaking with him now. Feng Rao and Yun Churan have also arrived in Qingling. Yun Xuan already went to pick them up. They should be at the hospital soon,â she reported all in one breath.
âYun Churan?â Wang Haoran raised an eyebrow.
The news about Yan Yuntian waking up, Yan Feipeng showing up, and Feng Rao rushing to Qinglingânone of it surprised him. But the unfamiliar name caught his attention.
âWhoâs Yun Churan?â
âYan Yuntianâs fiancĂ©e,â Yu Ning replied.
Wang Haoran couldnât help but let out a chuckle. âThat guy sure collects fiancĂ©es like trading cards.â
He already knew Yan Yuntian had a few engagements floating around, but still, hearing it again made him shake his head in amusement.
âSo whatâs the deal with this Yun Churan? I assume the relationship isnât great? Is she here to break off the engagement too?â
After dealing with Feng Anna and Ning Aoxue, Wang Haoran couldnât help but think along those lines.
But to his surprise, Yu Ning replied, âYoung Master, Yun Churan is different from the others. Sheâs the daughter of an ancient secluded sect. Her clanâs strength is on par with Fengxi Sect.â
âYun Churan and Yan Yuntian are a perfect match in status. Out of all his fiancĂ©es, sheâs the one designated to be his official wife.â
âAnd most importantly, Yun Churan doesnât oppose the marriage.â
Wang Haoran raised an eyebrow, an amused smirk creeping across his face.
Doesnât oppose the marriage?
If Yun Churan knew that Yan Yuntian wasnât even a normal man anymore, would she still feel the same?
After Yu Ning finished her report, she quickly ended the call.
Wang Haoran returned to the villa. Just as he stepped through the door, he ran into Feng Xuansu, who looked like she was in a hurry to leave.
âWhere are you headed?â he asked, noting her anxious expression.
Feng Xuansu hesitated, then said, âYou have to promise not to get mad.â
âGo ahead. I wonât be mad,â Wang Haoran said, already having a rough guess.
âI know you and Yan Yuntian donât get along,â she said softly. âBut in terms of seniority, heâs still my nephew. I just found out that last night a meteorite fell and struck his residence. He was seriously injured. Iâm going to the hospital to see him.â
