Wang Haoran entered the villa and barely sat down when Lu Chen threw a thinly veiled eviction line his way.
âItâs getting late. Youâve made your visit, so you should leave now.â
Wang Haoran smiled casually. Since he was already here, how could he just walk away like that?
âYouâre right, itâs already quite late. In that case, why donât I stay the night? That wouldnât be a problem, would it?â His tone carried ease, but every word was laced with challenge.
Lu Chenâs face tightened as he stared at Wang Haoran. That smug attitude made him grind his teeth.
âLooks like youâre not too thrilled by the idea,â Wang Haoran said, glancing toward Lu Yan, who was walking over with a cup of tea in her hands.
âBrother, whatâs wrong with you? Thereâs clearly space. Whatâs so hard about letting my boyfriend spend a night here?â Lu Yan placed the cup on the table and put her hands on her hips, her tone filled with discontent.
âNo,â Lu Chen replied coldly.
Lu Yan snorted and took Haoranâs hand, clearly intending to leave with him.
âYanyan!â Lu Chen got anxious and rushed over to stop her. âLetâs not do anything rash. We can talk.â
âThen are you letting my boyfriend stay or not?â she pressed.
Though Lu Chen looked like heâd rather swallow nails, faced with her attitude, he had no choice but to relent.
âIâll go make the bed,â he said through gritted teeth and turned toward one of the guest rooms.
Grandpa Lu had been discharged from the hospital and, attached to old habits, chose to remain at their old home. Lu Chen had no time to care for him personally, so he had hired a caretaker.
There were only two beds in this villa, meant for him and Lu Yan. Now, since Haoran insisted on staying, heâd have to prep a new sleeping arrangement. With his mood soured, he laid the bedding with resentment, then reached into a hidden pouch and scattered itching powder across the sheets.
Once done, he returned to the living room.
âItâs late. Iâm going to bed. Yanyann, you should rest too,â he said, shooting a mocking look at Wang Haoran before gesturing toward the room he just finished preparing. âThat oneâs yours.â
Without waiting for a reply, he turned and went into his own room, needing nothing more than to get Haoran out of his sight.
âTime to sleep,â Lu Yan whispered once her brother was out of earshot.
âSure,â Haoran replied with a nod, but instead of heading to the room Lu Chen pointed to, he casually strolled toward Lu Yanâs bedroom.
He had already seen, with his ability, exactly what Lu Chen did in that room earlier. There was no way he was going to lie down on a trap-laden bed. Besides, the real reason he wanted to stay had just come into reach.
Lu Yan saw him walk into the wrong room and instinctively wanted to speak up.
But he immediately made a shushing gesture.
She understood right away. Her cheeks flushed crimson, and she quickly shut her lips, not daring to make a sound.
The two quietly entered her bedroom and closed the door behind them.
Inside his room, Lu Chen reviewed some medical prescriptions, eventually feeling drowsy. As he prepared for sleep, the memory of the itching powder brought a malicious grin to his face. He tiptoed out and moved toward the room he assigned to Wang Haoran, hoping to hear scratching and cursing.
When he arrived, he found the door ajar and the bed untouched.
His heart skipped.
Where the hell did that bastard go?
He narrowed his eyes and slowly looked toward Lu Yanâs room, the door tightly shut. With rising suspicion, he crept over and placed his ear against the wood.
What he heard made his pupils widen and his face twist in fury.

Wang Haoran raised an eyebrow.
Huh?
He was just enjoying the moment when the systemâs messages popped up like a flood.
He turned slightly and caught sight of Lu Chenâs shadow crouched outside the door, ear glued to the wood. Haoran chuckled with wicked glee and began to move even more enthusiastically.

The next morning, Wang Haoran stepped out of the room with a refreshed spirit, ready to head to class.
He noticed deep scratch marks gouged into the wooden door and paused, then let out a low chuckle before walking away with a slow, satisfied pace.
Definitely coming back tonight.
Lu Chen heard the door open and came out to the hallway, watching Wang Haoranâs back vanish into the distance. His fists clenched tight, rage simmering in his chest.
âBrother, morning!â
Lu Yanâs voice came from behind. She walked out glowing with energy, a radiant smile blooming on her face like spring.
But Lu Chen only felt a stab in his heart. This couldnât continue.
He had to think of a way to deal with Wang Haoran.
ââ
That afternoon, Wang Haoran wandered through campus, casually scrolling on his phone as if looking to chat with someone.
But he soon sensed something unusualâhe was being followed.
He bent down, tying his shoelace, and used his x-ray vision to scan the surroundings. In an instant, he found Lu Chen sneaking around like a rat behind a pillar.
Looks like that guy still hadnât recovered from last nightâs trauma and wanted revenge.
Wang Haoran didnât rush to confront him. Instead, he acted like he noticed nothing, continuing his stroll along Hongfeng Road while preparing to message Xu Muyan.
Before he could hit send, a familiar figure walked straight toward him.
Haoran blinked. He hadnât expected to see her.
âYou knew about Yan Yuntianâs⊠condition. Why?â The voice belonged to Yun Churan. Her tone was sharp, her eyes filled with suspicion.
âI just found out by chance,â Haoran replied casually.
âReally?â She didnât buy it, eyes narrowing with doubt. âI know youâre acquainted with that little fairy doctor from yesterday.â
Wang Haoran felt a jolt inside but kept his expression calm.
âWhat makes you think that?â
âI saw the way she looked at you. It wasnât how she looked at anyone else.â
âYouâre being ridiculous. Maybe she just thought I looked handsome and stared a bit longer. Is that a crime?â He tried brushing it off, not daring to admit his connection with Bian Suwen.
Her firm expression wavered.
âInstead of interrogating me over nonsense, maybe you should figure out your own problems first,â Wang Haoran said, smoothly changing the subject.
