Wang Haoran put away his phone just in time to see Fenfg Rao swaying her hips as she walked right up to him.
Her eyes shimmered with intrigue, blatantly scanning him from head to toe. The intensity in her gaze made his scalp tingle. He instinctively took half a step back.
âWhat? Do I scare you?â Feng Rao raised an eyebrow as she caught his reaction.
âNo, not at all.â He shook his head quickly.
âThen what are you so nervous about?â
âYouâre so dazzling itâs hard not to feel a little self-conscious,â he replied out of habit, words of praise slipping past his lips before he could stop them.
The moment they came out, he regretted it. He nearly slapped himself.
Feng Rao beamed with delight, clearly pleased. It felt like the time sheâd spent dolling up hadnât gone to waste. She took a step closer, her smile sweet and teasing.
âIf I look that good, then I should let you have a closer look, no?â Her eyes sparkled as she leaned in slightly, her gaze never leaving his.
Wang Haoran instinctively lowered his gaze and was greeted by a pair of proud curves that seemed to taunt him outright.
He dared not say a word.
âDinner must be ready by now. Letâs go,â he said, sidestepping her to escape.
âNo rush. Thereâs still time,â Feng Rao blocked him with a smooth motion.
Wang Haoran silently groaned, unsure how to deal with her.
Just then, Feng Xuansuâs voice rang out, âHaoran, where are you?â
He almost yelled out
Wife, save me!
but caught himself. Instead, he called back plainly, âOver here!â
Feng Xuansu rounded the corner of a nearby building and came into view.
The moment Feng Rao spotted her, she immediately stood up straight and wiped the smile off her face. Her gaze darkened slightly as she gave Haoran a quick glare.
âBig sis, youâre here too?â Xuansu sounded surprised. âWhat were you two talking about?â
âI could tell you two werenât just friends,â Feng Rao said, completely calm as if nothing had happened. âSo I pulled him aside to ask what your relationship really is.â
Xuansu didnât want to bring up the past in front of Haoran, worried it might trigger another memory episode like before.
âLet me talk to you privately,â she said.
âIâll go check if lunch is ready,â Haoran took the excuse and slipped away.
Once he was gone, Feng Rao asked directly, âWell?â
Xuansu didnât hide anything. She shared the same story she told Yuntian earlier, the truth about her past with Haoran.
Feng Rao stood there, shocked for a long time.
She only guessed that Xuansu liked Wang Haoran. She never expected it to be something this serious.
âBig sis, thank you for forgiving Haoran the other day when he accidentally offended you. I really appreciate it,â Xuansu said sincerely.
âWeâre sisters. Your husband is family, too. No need to thank me,â Feng Rao waved it off casually.
âStill, thank you.â Xuansu smiled, clearly relieved.
Feng Rao returned the smile, but her heart was heavy.
If Xuansu merely liked Wang Haoran, then it would just be a matter of fair competition. But now that she knew they were married, guilt crept in.
And yet, she couldnât let go. Suppressing her own desires was only making herself miserable.
Besides, when had Feng Rao ever failed to get something she wanted?
In just a short moment, she cast away all hesitation. She might feel guilty, but sheâd deal with it later. Worst case, she will play the sister role and let Xuansu have the title of âmain wife.â
That should be enough to clear her conscience.
With her mind made up, Feng Rao was ready to proceed with her original plan.
Before long, lunchtime arrived.
Yun Churan claimed she wasnât feeling well and stayed in her room.
At the table were Wang Haoran, Feng Xuansu, Yan Feipeng, Arao, and Yuntian, who was lying on a lounge chair. They gathered to eat.
Because of his injuries, Yuntian had to be hand-fed by a servant.
Yuning and Yun Xuan stood by to serve, and Feng Rao made sure they kept topping off everyoneâs drinksâespecially Wang Haoranâs.
In less than ten minutes, he had already been forced to drink five full glasses of wine under Feng Raoâs enthusiastic hospitality.
Thankfully, he wasnât an ordinary man. Otherwise, he mightâve already passed out.
âYuning, fill his glass again,â Arao said as soon as she saw his cup was empty.
âHeâs had enough. He shouldnât drink anymore,â Xuansu interjected, worried.
âItâs a celebration. A little more wonât hurt,â Yuntian cut in between bites, clearly hoping Haoran would get blackout drunk.
Wang Haoran shot Yuntian a sidelong glance. *Youâre still talking with food in your mouth?*
Originally, he planned to invite Bian Suwen to the gathering so they could expose Yun Churanâs secret in front of everyone. Thatâs why he insisted Yuntian to join the mealâto make sure he sees it all.
But plans had changed as Suwen couldnât make it.
Now, Haoran wasnât in the mood to deal with Yuntianâs games.
Still, hearing him talk trash while being spoon-fed rubbed him the wrong way.
âYu Ning, hurry and pour,â Feng Rao pushed again.
âThis guest has had too much already. Maybe he should stop?â Yu Ning said, her voice filled with concern.
Feng Rao had no intention of letting her meddle.
Without waiting for a response, she grabbed the wine bottle from Yu Ning and poured for Haoran herselfâfilling his cup to the brimâthen filled her own.
âLet me toast you,â she said cheerfully and drained her cup in one go.
Yuntian smirked coldly, silently praying Haoran would pass out from alcohol poisoning.
Haoran glanced at him again, reading the spite in his eyes. Without saying a word, he downed the glass, then let out a loud sigh and started swaying slightly, acting tipsy.
âYouâre drunk. Donât drink anymore,â Xuansu said gently, clearly concerned.
âIâm not drunk. Who says Iâm⊠hic⊠I can still drink⊠Oh wow, youâre so pretty,â Haoran slurred, eyes glassy as he draped an arm around Xuansuâs shoulders and started groping without shame.
Startled, Xuansuâs first instinct was to push him awayâbut she stopped herself.
Haoran was always so proper and distant. For once, he was letting his guard down. Why stop him?
The rest of the table wore varying expressions.
Yuntianâs eyes burned with barely-contained rage.
ăDing! The host has successfully destabilized Yuntianâs mindset. Gained 1300 Villain Points. Yuntianâs Protagonist Halo -65. Hostâs Villain Halo +65.ă
Yan Feipeng, sitting quietly, pretended nothing was happening and just sipped his wine.
Feng Rao was a little jealous. Sure, Xuansu was beautiful, but so was she. Why wasnât she getting any of that drunken attention?
Yuntian, after a moment of seething, forced himself to calm down. Haoran and Xuansu were married, after all. A little drunken touching wasnât that outrageous.
Meanwhile, Haoran was gauging Yuntianâs reaction. Seeing it wane, he realized that groping Xuansu was no longer rattling him.
So he changed targets.
Xuansu, flushed from embarrassment, kept her head down and didnât notice Haoranâs subtle shift.
But others at the table did.
Yan Feipeng froze mid-sip.
Feng Rao beamed with anticipation.
Yuntianâs eyes widenedâsomething felt very wrong.
Just as he opened his mouth to speak, still unsure what to say, Wang Haoran, who was still pretending to be drunk, suddenly turned and lunged toward Feng Rao with both hands raised like claws, reaching straight for her.
