Hissââ
Seeing a little yellow figure appear in front of him, Li Wu recoiled slightly in shock.
"Who are you, and why are you yellow?"
"Thatâs an odd question, why are you white?"
"..." Li Wu couldnât come up with an answer.
Both of them were colors that clashed with the Blood Pool, so there was nothing to be disdainful about between them.
"Why donât we team up for now?"
"I have no objections."
Li Wu spread his hands and said.
At least by walking with this little yellow person, his own whiteness wouldnât seem too out of place.
"The Blood Pool has just opened, and the pollution is at its minimum. Letâs leave the âIncubation Areaâ quickly and explore if there are any new traits developing in the Blood Pool."
The little yellow figure said.
"No problem, letâs set off now." The little white figure, Li Wu, nodded.
Just as they were about to leave, another Blood Embryo was born from an adjacent embryonic egg.
"What kind of monster is this?!" The Blood Embryo, upon being born, was immediately startled to see the yellow and white figures hovering in front of him.
He shivered in fright.
"Didnât the High Priest say that shortly after condensing a Blood Embryo in the Incubation Area, there wouldnât be any pollution present? Why am I seeing these two spiritual contaminants?!"
"Could it be that the High Priest lied to me!"
This entire Blood Embryo was red in hue but much lighter than the Blood Embryo previously condensed by Han Zhan.
If one had to describe it, this Blood Embryo resembled red dye diluted with water.
"Who are you calling a spiritual contaminant?" Li Wu raised an eyebrow.
Of course, in his current form, it wouldnât be apparent even if he raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, this spiritual contaminant can even speak?" The pale red figure leaped back to create some distance, seemingly coming to his senses. "No, wait, you can communicate with me normally, are you part of the Jiuli Clan?"
"Li Wu, Priest of Hejian Village within the Jiuli Clan."
Li Wu didnât hesitate, introducing himself directly.
"Li Heng, Priest of Nanshan Village within the Jiuli Clan."
The pale red figure also introduced himself after regaining composure.
Nanshan Village was another large settlement of the Jiuli Clan, which Li Wu had heard of.
After hearing Li Wuâs identity, Li Heng breathed a sigh of relief.
"Good, good, at least youâre not a pollutant."
"You seem very afraid of pollution."
Li Wu asked instinctively after seeing his reaction.
"Of course, didnât your High Priest tell you? Pollution is the greatest danger within the Blood Pool. Once contaminated, the soul will be irreversibly affected."
The mutation of the soul would lead to a corresponding mutation of the body.
Thus, no matter how powerful the Blood Pool was, the Jiuli Clan people wouldnât enter too often.
Especially the stronger members of the Jiuli Clan.
Many of them had entered the Blood Pool at some point, their souls tainted with considerable pollution. To them, each re-entry was an extremely dangerous endeavor.
Li Wu already knew most of what Li Heng mentioned.
However, heâd only heard about it from the High Priest, and it never seemed so real.
"The pollution will approximately descend in half a day." At this point, a pleasant female voice from the little yellow figure who hadnât spoken said.
"If youâre going to keep chatting here, Iâm leaving first."
"Hey, hey, wait for us!"
Upon hearing this, Li Heng hurriedly protested and followed suit, and so did Li Wu.
...
"What exactly are traits?"
Watching the towering black Blood Embryo walking ahead, Han Zhan asked.
"I see it as an epiphany."
"An epiphany?"
"Exactly. The Blood Pool is said to be a place where gods are nurtured, so there are various âthoughtsâ from gods here. These thoughts materialize into what we call âtraitsâ.
Traits are the materialized form of a godâs thoughts.
So by integrating these traits, one can acquire the unique thoughts of a god.
These divine thoughts are numerous, complex, vast, endless, and unknown.
"Divinity carries inherent pollution because we are mortals, mortals striving to become gods. Once exposed to more of these thoughts, we become polluted by them, transitioning from humanity to divinity."
Kuafu continued to explain.
This explanation was new to Han Zhan.
"Who is the god?" Han Zhan suddenly asked. "Demon God? Witch God? Or other gods?"
"I donât know."
The figure walking ahead paused slightly.
"As someone whoâs been there, I advise you not to delve further into these matters, at least not for now."
"The more you know, the worse the pollution becomes."
"Then why do you keep entering the Blood Pool, knowing that each entry brings the risk of pollution?"
Han Zhan asked.
Kuafu, being a Great Power of the Jiuli Clan, was a well-known character in legend and history.
His stance could largely be indicative of most of the Jiuli Clan powerhouses.
"Because I want to end this endless war."
"Only with absolute strength can this chaos be ended and bring tranquility back to the land."
Kuafuâs words surprised Han Zhan a bit.
"Letâs go; we donât have much time left."
Kuafu ignored the dazed Han Zhan behind him and set off again.
Han Zhan quickly snapped back and caught up.
Before long, the two left the Incubation Area, and the network of blood vessels and embryonic eggs above them vanished.
Replaced by an endless Blood Sea!
Tumultuous red waves crashed against the shoreâs rocks.
Red mist hovered over the entire Blood Sea.
Soft murmurs seemed to echo in the ears, but when focused on, they disappeared.
Amid the red mist over the sea, phantom black shadows resembling various twisted crawling creatures appeared fleetingly, quickly dissipating.
"Donât stare."
"Be careful of unnecessary contamination."
In his ear, Kuafuâs voice pulled Han Zhan back to reality, clearing his thoughts.
"Are those the pollutants? I thought they were just my hallucinations."
"They are indeed your hallucinations." Kuafu said as he let out a low growl, causing the original three-zhang tall black murky Blood Embryo to suddenly grow larger.
"Each personâs hallucinations differ, and the things one can see vary as well."
"If you donât want to be subtly polluted, you must stay alert and guard against all unknown influences."
"Letâs go, those traits are birthed in this Blood Sea."
Kuafu, by now, had transformed into a giant about thirty zhang tall.
His exaggerated size completely overshadowed Li Wu, whom theyâd met earlier.
This demonstrated the gap between the Jiuli Clanâs Great Powers and its Priests.
After speaking, he stepped into the Blood Sea.
As he moved forward, the Blood Sea gradually submerged his ankles, knees, and waist...
The water level finally stopped just below Kuafuâs shoulders.
A glow appeared beneath Han Zhanâs feet, and like Kuafu, he stepped forward.
