Chapter 21: A Sense Of Urgency

Master Ru noted them all in his mind and promised her that she wouldn’t be disturbed by anyone as long as she stayed here.

When Yi Chen, who was sitting at the same table as them, heard this, he couldn’t help but mentally nod to himself.

To be honest, he did think of going to visit Elder Jing late at night yesterday at first, but when he thought it over longer, he realised that he really had no leverage to gain her favour.

’She won’t just give me something if I kneel on the floor and beg her, would she? That’s just not how the world works.’ With that thought, Yi Chen had buried that idea in his mind last night.

So now, when he heard that Elder Jing wanted to focus on her cultivation, he wanted to pat his back a little since it meant that she must have been doing the same last night as well.

’I would have definitely incurred her wrath if I had disturbed her that time...’ he thought in relief. Although he won’t be able to meet her immediately but he was sure there would definitely be some chances in the future.

After Elder Jing had left, Master Ru glanced towards Feng Yu and Yi Chen and said, "I’ll go and make use of these pills now. You two should make your way towards the main hall. The tailors would be waiting for you there."

With that said, he soon left the dining hall in a hurry. It was clear that a part of him was also excited to see these miraculous pills at work.

"I’m glad everything progressed without any issue. It’s all thanks to you, Chen’er. If not for you, those servants would have lost their lives," Feng Yu said with a grateful expression.

"Come on, Yu’er, you’re exaggerating. Didn’t your father just say that he had imprisoned them? Why would their lives be in danger?" Yi Chen replied with a laugh. He felt that taking them as prisoners was enough to keep everything a secret.

"No, knowing my father and the responsibility he shoulders, he would have soon executed them," Feng Yu shook her head and answered, "It’s understandable since I would have done the same. If there’s something that holds even the tiniest of possibilities to bring harm to our family and us, then it’s better to nip it in the bud."

A ruthless glint appeared in Feng Yu’s eyes as she finished those words.

’To think that gentle gaze of hers can turn this scary.’ Yi Chen couldn’t help but gulp as a shiver ran down his spine when he saw Feng Yu like this.

However, her words also took him out of the false reality he had started to believe in because of his safe environment until now.

The two then talked about the marriage robes they preferred and some design ideas before finally reaching the main hall.

Five tailors with a bunch of rows of luxurious-looking robes were already waiting for them in the room, and the two of them were soon made to test a lot of ready-made marriage robes so that they could give better ideas about the ones they wanted.
