Chen Changsheng tried connecting to the mountains with his Divine Sense.
At that single thought, the distant mountains suddenly began to shake.
âBoomâŠâ
With rumbling sounds, the mountain range shifted its course by one zhang. Layers of snow broke off and tumbled downward like rivers, flowing downhill.
Chen Changshengâs emotions also grew restless at this moment.
Only when he witnessed the mountains responding to his Divine Sense did he fully believe this mountain range truly existed because of him.
Back thenâŠ
Just how powerful had he been?
Su Junhan said, âThe shape of this mountain is solely decided by you, Sir, with a single thought.â
Snow and wind settled on Chen Changshengâs shoulders.
He let out a long breath as he gazed at the plum tree before him.
His feelings were complicated. This mountain had witnessed all those long years, knowing countless stories. By comparison, he himself knew less than a mountain.
Chen Changsheng reached out and gently tapped the plum tree.
A wisp of Golden Light sank into the tree.
Then Chen Changsheng withdrew his gaze and said, âLetâs go.â
Su Junhan nodded after hearing this. He glanced at the plum tree but didnât ask unnecessary questions. Instead, he stepped forward, heading towards the Hundred-Demon Peaks behind the mountain.
That plum tree would stand atop the Liangjie Mountain Range.
No matter how fierce the wind and snow, it would never wither.
.
.
The view unfolded with peak after peak, covered in green. Mountain followed mountain, ridge linked to ridge.
Yet compared to the Mortal World, this place was less than one-tenth its size. Hidden like a paradise within this realm.
Not many monsters lived hereâperhaps only a few thousand. Monsters found it hard to survive in the human world, leaving just this one safe haven.
For over a thousand years, it remained much as it began. Only the trees grew taller with time.
Everywhere you looked was untouched nature.
An Immortal Sword flashed across the sky and descended into a valley surrounded by mountains.
Yuan Mountain stood in the heart of these peaks. For as long as Yuan Mountain existed, all monsters here had been sheltered by the Fox Clan.
No palaces stood here. No grand Monster City. Just wildernessâreally, nothing more than a few wooden huts.
Su Junhan said, âYuan Mountain has always been wilderness. Quite different from what you imagined, Sir.â
Chen Changsheng looked at the scene before him, smiling, âItâs quite lovely, isnât it?â
As Su Junhan landed in the valley, several little foxes came running from the woods.
âUncle Su!â âUncle Suâs back!â âDid Uncle Su go to the Mortal World again?â âDid Bai Bai bring us fun things again?â
Fox cubs in human-child form surrounded Su Junhan, looking up at their âUncle Su.â
They all still had tails or fox ears, having not yet mastered full Transformation.
Su Junhan smiled warmly, patting their heads. âYes, yes. Iâll give them to you later.â
âWhoâs this UncleâŠ?â
The little foxes turned toward Chen Changsheng. Seeing a stranger, they werenât scared. They just crowded around, studying him.
Su Junhan picked up one of them. âThis is Mr. Chen. His seniority is higher than Uncle Suâs.â
âAhâŠâ
âSo⊠we should call him Grandpa Chen?â
âGrandpa Chen!â
Chen Changsheng chuckled at being called âgrandpa.â âIâm not quite that old, surely?â
Su Junhan playfully patted the cubs. âGo play, now. Uncle Su and Grandpa Chen have matters to discuss.â
âOkay!â
The polite cubs hopped off to play in the mountains.
Watching their innocent joy, Chen Changsheng turned to Su Junhan. âYuan Mountain is far more peaceful than I expected.â
âHow did you think it would be, Mr. Chen?â Su Junhan asked.
Chen Changsheng said, âI thought Demon Kings might fight for territory. Didnât picture such a paradise.â
Su Junhan smiled faintly. âMonsters here treasure their peace. They wonât foolishly throw it away.â
âTrue.â Chen Changsheng nodded. âLikely you worked hard guiding the Demon Race toward this.â
Su Junhan answered, âThere were troublemakers at first, of course. When these mountains were newly settled, problems arose. I had to kill several Demon Kings.â
Chen Changsheng paused. âHow many?â
Su Junhan thought a moment. âHard to recall. But fighting Demon Kings? More than thirty, surely.â
Truthfully, more than thatâhe downplayed the number.
After the Liangjie Ranges split two realms, monsters claimed peaks as their own, causing bloody conflict. Su Junhan spent over a year eliminating every defiant Demon King.
That year, over seventy percent of monsters across the Hundred-Demon Peaks perished. Sixty percent of those died by Su Junhanâs hand.
The peace seen today was forged through his slaughter.
Though centuries have passed, elders among the peaks still recall that time of carnage. Just mentioning Su Junhan makes them shiver.
He was more than Yuan Mountainâs Fox Sovereign. He was Sovereign of the Hundred-Demon Peaks!
That seat wasnât won easily.
Moving deeper into the valley, Chen Changsheng saw wooden cabins dotted along the slopes. They resembled ordinary mountain huts.
âThis is Yuan Mountainâs clan territory,â said Su Junhan. âThe Fox Clan has lived here for generations.â
Beyond the clan land, a narrow path seemed to climb toward a small hill.
Not a single guard stood along the road. Peace permeated Yuan Mountain.
Chen Changsheng remarked, âYou conduct yourself less like a Fox Sovereign, and more like⊠a mortal village head.â
Su Junhan laughed. âFunny you mention that. I sometimes feel the same way.â
The human and fox reached the foot of the small hill.
Su Junhan paused. âMr. Chen, please wait here briefly.â
Chen Changsheng agreed. âOf course.â
Su Junhan walked onto the hill. Chen Changsheng waited outside, viewing the place. Rich Spiritual Energy soaked the landâa blessed location.
As Chen Changsheng observed, a womanâs furious voice suddenly pierced from the hill.
âTell him to GO AWAY!!â
Chen Changsheng was startled. Then Su Junhan stepped back out.
Weariness lined Su Junhanâs face. âMr. Chen, my Elder Sister hasâŠâ
Chen Changsheng understood. That shout had been meant for him.
Su Junhan explained, âShe waited for you all these years. Some resentment gathered. Please donât take it personally.â
âPerhaps I should go in,â Chen Changsheng suggested. âSpeak with her myself?â
Su Junhan weighed it. âPerhaps thatâs best. She speaks in anger, nothing more.â
Chen Changsheng took slow steps onto the hill.
From outside, nothing seemed special. But within lay an emerald lake, centered by an ancient tree standing firm for over a thousand years.
The instant Chen Changsheng entered, a mocking laugh cut the air.
âHow dare you show your face here, you heartless scoundrel?â
Chen Changsheng froze before even seeing the speaker.
Heartless scoundrel?
Who?
