Chapter 282: Staple Food
Li Yao swung her sword, cutting through another massive flaming hand and quickly stepping backward to maintain distance. She thought to herself in frustration that she couldnât use the Second Heaven domain at all.
In fact, she couldnât even sense it at all.
Whatâs happening?
Was the elderâs domain somehow interfering with her own domain, making it completely inaccessible?
The empress thought to herself that this somewhat made sense from a theoretical perspective. After all, Li Yaoâs domain was still incomplete so it might indeed be susceptible to suppression by a more established domain from a higher realm cultivator.
âDo you know how the Second Heaven domain actually works?â Xiang Yu asked.
âOf course I do, itâsâŠâ Li Yao began confidently before pausing for a long moment as realization dawned on her. Thatâs right, she didnât even understand how the domain functioned.
[I see, so thatâs it,] the empress spoke with a knowing smile.
[You canât access the domain since it doesnât actually belong to you,] the empress explained.
âDoesnât belong to me?â she asked in bewilderment.
âThatâs right,â Xiang Yu responded. âYao Yao was the one who originally created the domain. And since you two arenât currently in sync with each other, you donât share understanding. Meaning sheâs the only one who truly knows how the domain works and thus the only one who can use it.â
[Thatâs right,] the empress confirmed.
Li Yao seemed to have a conflicted expression as she processed this information. The idea of relying on her younger self felt somewhat humiliating. But after some internal struggle, she finally sighed in resignation.
âFine, you do it,â she said reluctantly, addressing the younger Li Yao within her spiritual sea.
She thought to herself that she wouldâve liked to kill that phoenix bitch with her own hands. Well, you win some, you lose some.
As she was thinking of this, the other Li Yao looked directly at her and smiled. Li Yao smiled back at her.
âHmm, why do I suddenly feel uncomfortableâ
Outside, lightning started gathering around Li Yaoâs form once again, this time much more intense than before.
The elder thought to herself that the last time this strange phenomenon had happened, Li Yao seemed to become significantly stronger. She wondered if that was going to happen again.
More and more lightning continued gathering around Li Yao. The lightning energy then formed into a massive ball that completely enveloped her body.
The ball then began condensing into itself. Its size halved, and again, and again. This happened several more times in rapid succession before the ball completely disappeared, revealing Li Yaoâs transformed state.
Her previous mature form had completely reverted, and she now appeared even younger than her base form. Though she still maintained her blue eyes and blue hair.
She did a few casual stretches in the air before speaking in a cheerful voice.
âIâm finally out!â she spoke with excitement.
âHmm, what should I do now?â she thought aloud.
âDonât do anything weird! Just activate the domain and find her, then cut off her head,â Li Yao spoke sternly from the spiritual sea. She clicked her tongue in annoyance, thinking that staying cooped up in here was really boring, it was just a few seconds and she already wanted out.
âHey, donât squeeze too hard,â the blob-form Xiang Yu complained as her grip on him tightened as her frustration grew.
Xiang Yu thought to himself that these two were really alike.
âYeah, yeah, whatever,â the small Li Yao said dismissively.
She then raised her hand casually and a small ball of lightning appeared in her palm. She began condensing more and more energy into it until it suddenly exploded outward in all directions.
The elder from the central continent wondered what was happening as she felt the shift in spiritual energy around her. It felt somewhat like a domain manifestation.
She then felt a presence approaching from behind her and spun around instinctively, throwing a powerful punch in the direction of the presence.
âHey, not cool! Someone couldâve been hurt,â Li Yao spoke from behind her.
The woman turned around once again, her eyes meeting with Li Yao, who now floated before her.
âWelcome to the Second HeavenâŠâ

Light Xiang Yu slowly opened his eyes.
He thought to himself that his earlier assumption had actually been wrong.
The space inside the void flame wasnât actually space at all, but pure void.
Well, although it seemed obvious given that the name was literally âAbyssal VOID Flame,â Xiang Yu hadnât expected the fundamental concepts to be so different from each other. He had initially assumed that since space was essentially a vacuum, then it wasnât that much different from the void concept.
But it seemed he had been completely mistaken in this reasoning. The void concept could even be considered the direct opposite of the space concept. It represented absolute nothingness â not even space itself could exist within true void.
After spending considerable time meditating within the void flameâs personal void, he had gradually discovered this crucial distinction.
But something still troubled him. If void represented the complete opposite of space, then why was the void flame so intensely attracted to space? It didnât make sense.
He remembered that even the original void flame had been floating aimlessly in space when he encountered it. Although it seemed similar to the void back then, after studying the void so intensely, he could confidently say that that was definitely space.
As he tried to figure out why this was the case, he suddenly thought of something that made him pause. Could it beâŠthereâs no way, right? But the more he thought about it, the more believable it seemed.
The original void flame was actually a space-devouring monster. That explained why he was so attracted to space. It wasnât that space was his natural habitat, but rather his staple food.
He wondered if he would also eventually become a space-eating monster.
Shaking his head to dismiss these useless thoughts, he decided to focus on more practical matters. After spending extensive time in the void space analyzing theories and testing concepts, he felt that he at least had some basic understanding of the void, though he still didnât know if this limited knowledge would be enough to successfully form a domain.
He raised his palm and closed his eyes in concentration. Slowly, a small black dot, barely visible to the naked eye, started swirling on his open palm. He showed visible strain as he tried to get the void energy to stabilize and expand.
After several minutes of struggle, he still couldnât get the dot to expand even to an inch in diameter. The best he could manage was a quarter-inch before it collapsed back on itself.
He sighed in disappointment. Heâd even tried doing the same thing with his main body, but it only reached half an inch at max.
It seemed that even with something he had natural affinity toward like the void, he still needed much more understanding to get it to actually transform into a functional domain.
As he was thinking of this, he suddenly paused as a new idea struck him. He then smiled widely, if this succeeded, he might not even need to work that hard to gain a domain after allâŠ
