The dirty little employee tugged at his clothes, knowing that the other party couldnāt possibly be interested in him, but still couldnāt help a small thought, "Why...why?"
Su Xiaocai leaned in and whispered, "I just like weird things and I want to know how that personās son disappeared."
"Will it bother you?"
The little employee quickly shook his head, feeling a bit melancholy, and said softly, "I have to go to the police station before I can tell you."
"No rush."
The little employee got in the car with the police, and the man in black was handcuffed and taken away as well.
Originally planning to take a taxi, Su Xiaocai decided to take the bus instead to avoid any unforeseen issues.
On a planet full of soldiers, there were still a few rats sneaking around. Taxis were risky, and there might be some Insect Men hiding, which would ruin her vacation.
The bus with the YJ license plate sped wildly and arrived smoothly at the Military Department.
Su Xiaocai felt like her feet were tied to balloons, floating as she went to Ji Li for some motion sickness pills.
Mecha driving didnāt defeat her, and space spinning training didnāt challenge her either.
Bus drivers, a magical presence.
She went to Ji Li and took two motion sickness pills to stop the dizziness.
Ji Li had two exhausted students there, receiving nurturing treatment, and their lifeless expressions made Su Xiaocai laugh.
"Whatās wrong with them?"
"Rebels, left the team during a mission and got beaten up by the instructor."
"Doctor Ji, whereās your professional ethics? Boo-hoo, weāre miserable enough. How can you ruin my reputation in front of Su?"
Ji Li put his hands in his pockets, "This is all over the school forum, donāt bother struggling."
Su Xiaocai: "Why did you leave the team? Couldnāt you just do the task properly?"
"It was too boring. Plus, we didnāt mean to; we just couldnāt sleep well last night, so we fell asleep."
Their explanation made her head feel like it was short-circuiting. Falling asleep during a space mission, what a pair of geniuses.
Su Xiaocai taunted gleefully, "No wonder the instructor needed to teach you a lesson, you really had it coming."
One student whimpered, "Eep...eep..."
The other said, "If you canāt even whimper, just donāt. Itās like you canāt go when youāre on the toilet."
After they recovered from treatment, they requested a photo with Su Xiaocai, jumping with joy as they left.
For the first time in their lives, they got to take a picture with their admired idol, how lucky.
Su Xiaocai is so nice; if only her mouth wasnāt so sharp.
As soon as they left, Ji Heng arrived. He had just finished a training session and had to go back for another group training later.
Seeing Su Xiaocai there, he was a bit surprised, "Hello, Su."
"No need to call me Su, just call me Xiaocai. Youāre Ji Liās brother, so Iāll call you Ji Er. Feels more intimate."
Intimate, my foot. It sounded like she was calling him a fool.
Ji Li: "The name suits him, very fitting."
"Brother." Under Ji Hengās cool demeanor, there was a hint of grievance, "I have something I want to talk to you about."
Ji Li nodded, "Go ahead."
Ji Heng silently looked at Su Xiaocai.
"Okay, Iāll give you brothers some private space. Iām a universe-class good friend, top-notch in understanding." Su Xiaocai stretched, wondering if the Insect Man had been dissected yet, and if Wisdom 03 could check for news.
After Su Xiaocai left the infirmary, Ji Heng couldnāt hold back and blurted out his decision to Ji Li.
Did one mission change his mind so much?
But breaking off the engagement was inevitable. Ji Li didnāt want Ji Heng to marry a wife with such strong possessiveness and control issues, "Are you sure? Arenāt you afraid of making mom sad?"
"Everyone has times theyāll be sad. Better to end things sooner rather than later. I donāt want to wait until the last step with Xue Huiyi and then bring it up, it wouldnāt be good for her reputation."
"But I donāt know how to start. Brother, could you teach me?" Ji Heng felt that Ji Liās ability to speak harsh words had reached a miraculous level, reviving the dead just to kill them again with his words.
"Iām not helping you, figure it out yourself. Itās not me breaking off the engagement." Ji Li was disdainful of his brother seeking his advice for breaking up.
"Brother, did you think from the start we couldnāt go the distance?" Ji Heng could tell Ji Li didnāt like Xue Huiyi much, but Ji Li never badmouthed her in front of him. At most, heād tell him to keep Xue Huiyi under control and not let her dance around him.
"Not from the start."
Ji Li didnāt know Xue Huiyi before she became Ji Hengās fiancĆ©e.
"About three years ago, when you just started Military Training, I saw with my own eyes how she convinced one suitor with a few words to assault another suitor from outside the school. Thatās when I knew what kind of person she was. I didnāt record it, thereās no evidence, so I canāt say anything lightly."
"Later, I did a little digging to find out who that bullied suitor was. An orphan."
Xue Huiyi targeted him simply because he was an orphan, unworthy of pursuing her.
Ji Hengās back hunched, "Am I like a scumbag, having no understanding of my fiancĆ©e at all?"
He should have understood and restrained her instead of being indifferent under the title of fiancĆ©, having not put in any effort. If thatās not being a scumbag, what is?
Ji Li reminded him, "Xue Huiyiās beyond saving, sheās already an adult. Her worldview is hard to change, donāt think you can save her. Say it sooner rather than later," to prevent his emotionally indecisive brother from getting in too deep.
"Brother, you have so little faith in me, thinking Iād change a decision Iāve made."
Ji Li let Ji Heng vent all his little grievances. A brother would always be a brother; even so, he still wanted to consult him.
...
After being out for a few hours, and it was getting late, Su Xiaocai let Xiao Wanzi out to cook. The aroma of the rich dishes whetted her appetite.
Sister Liang hadnāt returned, so Su Xiaocai saved a portion for her.
After eating, it was still early, and Su Xiaocai remembered she had to fulfill her responsibility as a mentor and went to watch Wu Qingqing train.
They were now wearing new gear only awarded to formally certified Mecha Masters, practicing wall-gliding.
The dayās tasks were space training, and from the afternoon to 8 PM, it was all about physical training and getting used to the new equipment.
The intensity was much greater than at school.
At this moment, countless uneven walls rose in the training ground, with numerous students weaving through.
Since the equipment required a certain level of operation proficiency, the rookies kept falling, each in different poses, each with unique yells.
"Ouch!"
"Whoa!"
"Ah, Iām flying."
"Instructor, help!"
The instructors watched from the edge of the training field, not only not sympathizing but also gloating at their tumble.
"The way they fly looks great."
"Not bad, reminds me of how we used to be."
"Hahaha, looking at them, I feel I still fell more gracefully back in the day."
Isnāt it all just falling? Su Xiaocai shook her head; everyone comes from being a rookie, and thereās no graceful way to fall.
Fan Li noticed Su Xiaocai approaching and warily asked, "Are you here to practice with the new equipment too?"
"Do I even need to practice?" Su Xiaocai held her head high with pride, "Believe it or not, as soon as I get my hands on the equipment, Iāll know how to use it and outmaneuver all of you."
"I believe you."
"I donāt!" An instructor patted Fan Li on the shoulder, grinning roguishly, "Such confidence in the little one. Why donāt you put on the equipment and show us how well you can perform?"
"I donāt do things without benefits." Even monkey shows need to get paid.
This instructor laughed heartily, "Alright, you win. Dinnerās on me; Iāll take you to the cafeteria for a meal. If you lose, you treat me and Instructor Fan to a meal."
Su Xiaocai flashed a bright smile, "I canāt eat much by myself. If you can include my teammates too, then I can show you what a teaching demonstration looks like."
The unfamiliar instructor raised an eyebrow and turned to tease Fan Li, "Arenāt you worried? Your personalities are poles apart; thereās got to be some serious adjustment needed."
The scenario assumed Fan Li was diligent and hardworking, preferring similar students.
Su Xiaocai, however, was utterly arrogant, the type most difficult to guide.
Fan Li remained silent: Adjustment, my foot. Su Xiaocaiās already taken over my spot; Iām just here as support with no chances to intervene.
