Watching the Hunter retreat, Tang Zhuofei felt no joy at having repelled the Mutated Zombie. Instead, his expression was grim.
Because he didnât want to just repel the Hunterâhe wanted to kill it.
At the very least, they should have injured it. Otherwise, the Hunter could harass them repeatedly, putting them under immense pressure.
More importantly, the convoy wasnât just being attacked by the Hunter and Spitters. The Death Claw, the most terrifying threat of all, was also steadily approaching, and they were running out of time.
Once the Death Claw arrived, they would have to split their forces to deal with it. At that point, the threat from the Hunter would skyrocket.
"Damn it! If I werenât piloting this Mecha, I definitely would have hit it," Tang Zhuofei said, his voice laced with frustration.
Shooting from a Mecha gave him absolutely no feel for the weapon. Under these circumstances, he could only use about sixty percent of his Gun Techniqueâs full potential.
Normally, that was more than enough, but against a Hunter, that level of skill just wasnât cutting it.
Besides him, Mo Fei and Tang Hao, the other two Divine Sharpshooters, were in the same boat.
Otherwise, facing the combined assault of three Divine Sharpshooters, even a Hunter would have had no chance of escaping unscathed.
Just as Tang Zhuofei was debating whether to risk leaving his Mecha to attack with a Tearing Rifle, Lin Xinghaiâs voice suddenly came over the comms. "Everyone, open fire and try to force the Hunter within 20 meters of me. Iâll take care of the rest."
The two corps commanders, Song Yao and Qin Wenbo, had grown secretly anxious watching the three Divine Sharpshooters fail even as a team. But upon hearing Lin Xinghaiâs words, their spirits were instantly lifted.
Without even stopping to consider if Lin Xinghai could actually pull it off, they immediately ordered their subordinates to comply.
Tang Zhuofei and the others, however, were skeptical. They believed Lin Xinghaiâs Gun Technique surpassed their own, but the fact remained that they were all piloting Mechas.
No one understood better than them how crucial the âfeelâ of a weapon was for a Divine Sharpshooter.
Of course, despite their doubts, Lin Xinghai sounded so confident that they werenât about to object. Theyâd soon see if he was all talk or the real deal.
Forcing the Hunter to within 20 meters of Lin Xinghai was hardly a difficult task compared to actually killing it.
The Hunter then launched two more consecutive attacks. Since neither was aimed at Lin Xinghai, the others continuously laid down suppressive fire to intercept it.
Throughout this process, Lin Xinghai didnât fire a single shot, doing his best to minimize his presence on the battlefield.
Finally, on its fifth attack, the Hunter chose a target from the Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps.
However, it wasnât attacking the Armored Vehicle Lin Xinghai was protecting, but rather the one Roger was assigned to.
But the two vehicles were right next to each other, which met Lin Xinghaiâs 20-meter requirement.
âSo itâs finally come,â Lin Xinghaiâs eyes narrowed as he focused himself.
As for Roger... his hands were trembling slightly.
This was his first time facing a Mutated Zombie head-on. Furthermore, due to his limited Perception Power, he could only utilize fifty percent of his Mechaâs capabilities. It would be an absolute lie to say he wasnât nervous.
The slightest mistake wouldnât just cost them the Armored Vehicle; even the Mecha he was piloting could be destroyed in an instant.
After all, this was a Hunter, a creature that excelled at Speed. The battle would be decided in the blink of an eye.
But as he looked at the Speed Mecha Lin Xinghai was piloting up ahead, he quickly calmed down.
He had complete and utter faith in Lin Xinghai.
meters... 80 meters... 50 meters... 20 meters... The Hunter became a blur as it rapidly closed the distance.
As the Hunter drew nearer, the calm Roger had just found instantly evaporated, replaced by intense nervousness.
He began to panic again, especially when the Hunter closed to 20 meters and Lin Xinghai still hadnât made a moveâhe hadnât even raised his Electromagnetic Railgun.
It wasnât just Roger; even Tang Zhuofei and the others were frowning deeply.
âNot even starting to aim yet? Isnât that a bit too arrogant!â
A myriad of thoughts flashed through their minds, but the Hunter paid their feelings no mind, continuing its rapid approach. 20 meters... 15 meters... 10 meters... 5 meters...
When it reached 5 meters, Lin Xinghai still hadnât moved. Tang Zhuofei and the others were no longer just frowning; they were utterly baffled.
They began to suspect something had malfunctioned in Lin Xinghaiâs Mecha.
Or worse, that there was discord within the Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps, and this was an opportunity to eliminate a rival.
They had subconsciously dismissed the idea that Lin Xinghai was simply waiting for the right moment.
For a Hunter, a 5-meter distance was crossed in an instant. An ordinary person wouldnât even have time to react.
Even for powerhouses like them, who had broken Three Genetic Locks, there was no time to aim and lock on.
Roger could only grit his teeth and maneuver his Mecha, swinging the Giant Axe in its hand with all his might.
But the Hunter met his attack with a simple change of direction, effortlessly dodging the blow and closing to within 3 meters of the Armored Vehicle.
The Hunter raised its Sharp Claw. The Armored Vehicle was now within its attack range; victory was practically in its grasp.
âNow, should I strike once and retreat, or press the attack?â
But in that exact instant, it suddenly sensed a fatal danger.
As the Hunter raised its foreclaw to attack, Lin Xinghai raised his Electromagnetic Railgun in near-perfect sync and pulled the trigger.
The entire sequence was fluid and swift, completely skipping the steps of aiming and locking on.
The round had already left the chamber before the Hunter could even react.
By then, the Hunterâs Sharp Claw was only halfway raised.
Lin Xinghaiâs Mecha was over 10 meters away. Normally, relying on its Speed and a bit of luck, the Hunter might have actually been able to dodge.
But now, with one of its claws raised, it was only standing on three legs. In this stance, its ability to dodge and change direction was compromised.
Under these circumstances, there could only be one outcome: a one-hundred-percent guaranteed hit.
However, even in this kill-or-be-killed scenario, the Hunterâs reflexes were so fast that it managed to twist its body unnaturally, causing the round aimed at its head to hit its shoulder instead.
This made Lin Xinghaiâs brow furrow slightly, but Tang Zhuofei and the others, watching from a distance, couldnât help but let out a cheer.
An injury like that was enough to drastically reduce the Hunterâs Speed. Even if it managed to escape this time, when it next attacked, any one of the three Divine Sharpshooters would be able to finish it off.

Writing a Chapter in the hospital is incredibly difficult, but I finally managed to squeeze one out.
