Chapter 37: Chapter 37 Defeating the Enemy with One Move (1st Update)
"Why arenât you leaving yet?" Zhou Yan turned to look at Lin Xi, finding him standing nonchalantly behind her without moving. Su Qiaoqiao was also there, looking curiously at the two people at the door.
Zhou Yan instantly felt like a cat with its fur standing on end, yet unable to defeat him, her heart filled with frustration.
Why canât this scoundrel see the situation right now?
"Even if youâre not thinking of yourself, you should think of her." Zhou Yan pointed at the curious-faced Su Qiaoqiao and said to Lin Xi again.
"Indeed, big sister, youâre right." Lin Xi thought for a moment, feeling weak due to previously treating Su Qiaoqiao, "How about this, you take Qiaoqiao and leave through the back door, leave these two to me."
To be safe, itâs best to let the two leave.
If his strength wasnât so greatly diminished, even if these guys brought in ten more people, it would be resolved in minutes, and Su Qiaoqiaoâs safety would be guaranteed.
But now, he wasnât so sure.
"What? Youâre staying?"
Zhou Yan found it absurd to hear, even though Lin Xi was stronger than her, she was a peopleâs police officer, how could she abandon the people, even if itâs trash like him.
Besides, she believed her combat experience was far more abundant than Lin Xiâs; this life-and-death fight wasnât just fooling around like before.
"Stop dithering, you two get lost, sheâs staying." Jade Fox flexed his muscles, pointing at Su Qiaoqiao, and shouted.
"Ah, I...?" Su Qiaoqiao, who had always been standing behind Lin Xi and Zhou Yan, was instead very surprised, somewhat incredulous.
Lin Xi, however, was not surprised.
Since the two entered, he noticed their eyes were intentionally or unintentionally focused on Su Qiaoqiao, he knew their target was her.
"No way." Zhou Yan refused without thinking, though she actually felt a bit perplexed about why these two were fixated on this young girl.
"Fox, time is running out, you strike or should I?" The hunchbacked old man ignored Zhou Yan and said to Jade Fox crossing his arms.
"You go." Jade Fox still retained a bit of caution inside; ever since they came in until now, the young man by the police officerâs side was just too calm.
"Youâre still so cautious."
The hunchbacked old man stepped forward right after speaking, raising his cane as if to strike at Lin Xi and the others, though the distance was still several meters away.
In the moment Lin Xi and the others were puzzled, three fine silver needles shot out from the cane, each targeting one person.
Lin Xi reacted quickly, grabbing a nearby tray, and threw it forward, knocking away the silver needles aimed at him and Su Qiaoqiao. Zhou Yan was a bit farther from them, too far for the tray to reach.
"Hmm?"
Zhou Yan hummed lightly, tilting her head to look at her shoulder, discovering a small hole in her shirt with a thread of fresh blood seeping out.
Not far away on the wall, a silver needle was vibrating slightly, embedded there.
"Are you alright?" Lin Xi asked.
Zhou Yan shook her head, indicating it was just a minor scrape.
She really hadnât expected someone much stronger than her to attack so despicably, utterly shameless.
However, if the hunchbacked old man and Jade Fox knew what Zhou Yan was thinking, they would surely disdain her; doesnât she understand the principle that a lion uses its full strength even to hunt a rabbit?
"Take Qiaoqiao out the back door; Iâll catch up to you a minute later. These two arenât my match; if youâre here, Iâll have to divide my attention to care for you." Lin Xi, no longer casual at this moment, stared intently at the hunchbacked pair and spoke to Zhou Yan.
If it werenât for the ambush by the hunchbacked old man, Zhou Yan would surely not listen to Lin Xi, but now she realized her presence and that of the young girl would only hinder him.
"Little brother..., I donât want to go." Su Qiaoqiao also realized the danger, almost crying out.
"Scoundrel, donât die on me, Iâll call for help." Zhou Yan forcefully dragged Su Qiaoqiao towards the back door.
The hunchbacked old man and Jade Fox certainly would not stand idly by; they ventured here risking their lives to capture Su Qiaoqiao.
If they let her escape, they wouldnât see a dime of the hefty mission reward from their employer.
"Courting death."
Jade Fox hesitated no longer, charged forward, and punched toward Lin Xiâs head.
Lin Xi smirked; now he had no worries, why fear these two? He clenched his fist, meeting Jade Foxâs punch.
Moreover, it was a direct confrontation, devoid of skill.
In such a clash, whoever has the greater strength wins.
"Heh heh heh..."
The hunchbacked old man chuckled strangely, acknowledging he had never seen anyone stronger than Jade Fox.
Just shows this youth doesnât know his limits.
Thus, he unhesitatingly circled around, aiming to pursue Zhou Yan and Su Qiaoqiao.
Jade Foxâs face showed a smug smile; he had previously thought this youth wasnât simple, but now saw him as a fool.
"Bang."
The moment their fists collided, Jade Foxâs smug smile twisted instantly, his whole body shook violently.
The next moment, he flew backward, crashing through the glass window, unconscious beyond knowing of his survival.
"Had you fought me, you mightâve held out longer; going head-to-head, isnât that courting death?" Lin Xi couldnât help but mentally scoff.
Though his strength was greatly diminished, the physical power still wasnât something this person could match.
The hunchbacked old man hadnât yet glanced back when he felt a gust of force targeting the back of his head; he had no time for a frontal counter, only rolling aside to dodge this strike.
"Bang."
A chair slammed onto the ground; he then saw that boy eyeing him maliciously.
"Whereâs the Fox?"
The hunchbacked old man didnât have time for suspicion, swung his cane at Lin Xi, while another three silver needles shot from the cane, attacking Lin Xiâs upper, middle, and lower parts.
"Addicted to playing this?"
Lin Xi twisted to the left, dodging the cane and two of the silver needles, but the last silver needle was already at his face, about to pierce into him; Lin Xiâs hand arrived in time, catching this needle directly.
He glanced at the hunchbacked old man, finding him dashing toward the broken glass window.
"Hmph, trying to escape!"
Lin Xi twisted his fingers; that silver needle shot toward the hunchbacked old man at an even faster speed.
The hunchbacked old man seemed to have eyes on his back; his cane blocked the needle, and he promptly vanished from McDonaldâs.
Lin Xi rushed over; both figures had already disappeared.
His speed and reflexes now were greatly reduced, or else the hunchbacked senior and the muscle-bound man wouldnât have had any chance to escape.
Approaching the back door of McDonaldâs, he spotted Zhou Yan alone leaning against a telephone pole not far away. Lin Xi stepped forward, noticing her cheeks were flushed and she panted heavily, puzzled, "Whatâs wrong with you?"
"Why are you alone, whereâs Qiaoqiao?" Lin Xi continued.
