Chapter 182: Chapter 182 Not Bad (First Update)
"Stop staring and just throw it away!" Lin Xi looked at a reluctant Bai Bing, surprised that she cared about such trivial things. This didnât quite match her cold exterior, and he continued to persuade her,
"Iâve prepared a portion for you too; itâll be wasted if you donât come over!"
Bai Bing rolled her eyes at Lin Xi. She wasnât a stubborn person. After wiping her hands with a tissue, she sat across from Lin Xi, with an expression that said, "How am I supposed to eat this?"
Lin Xi smiled and quickly said, "Wait a moment, Iâll get the bowls and chopsticks!"
After getting them, he also served a bowl of rice, and Lin Xi handed it to Bai Bing, saying, "The stir-fried meat with chili is mildly spicy. If you canât handle spice, just have the pak choi and scrambled eggs with tomatoes."
"I can eat chili," Bai Bing replied, taking the bowl and chopsticks, and looking at the three dishes on the table.
Actually, she hesitated, not because she didnât want to eat Lin Xiâs cooking, but because she grew up predominantly on Western cuisine instead of Chinese. In other words, she was raised on Western food.
Her family even hired both a Chinese and a Western chef.
To her, Western food was more nutritious, more convenient, and tasted better. She didnât have a strong aversion to Chinese cuisine, but she had very high standards for it and usually lacked the time to wait for or eat it.
So, she hesitated about the three dishes in front of her.
Although they looked colorful, fragrant, and visually appealing, taste was another matter entirely. Besides, she was very picky.
Seeing Bai Bing not eating, seemingly lost in thought, Lin Xi assumed she was still considering the earlier situation and urged, "The lid wasnât even closed properly; itâs obvious the shop and deliverer werenât careful. Just eat first, and leave a bad review later!"
"Forget it, everyone has their difficulties; it might not be intentional," Bai Bing replied, putting a piece of pak choi into her bowl.
This surprised Lin Xi. He didnât expect the seemingly unapproachable Bai Bing to have this side to her. It seemed she was not as she appearedâno, no, thatâs not correct; she was cold on the outside but warm on the inside.
"Giving a good or bad review may seem insignificant to us, but it can be very important to others, even affecting their future!" Despite rescuing the Bai familyâs business, the struggles she faced in doing so were known only to her.
Lin Xi nodded; although he didnât fully understand, he felt Bai Bing made a valid point.
They didnât talk much afterward and started eating.
Bai Bing cautiously took a bite of the pak choi from her bowl, not expecting much; she just hoped it wasnât awful.
"Uh..."
Bai Bingâs chopsticks paused at her mouth. Her expression was hard to read, but her mouth kept moving.
Equally caught up in eating, Lin Xi paused and looked at Bai Bing, puzzled, asking, "Whatâs wrong? Not to your taste? Why not try..."
Before Lin Xi could finish, Bai Bing used the fastest speed heâd ever seen to sample the other two dishes, putting them into her mouth.
Moments later, she finally commented, "Not bad."
"Oh." Lin Xi had thought she was dissatisfied, but it turned out she found it agreeable, so he didnât dwell on it.
But then he watched Bai Bing, as she elegantly yet quickly ate, simultaneously taking bites of rice and picking up more food. Although her movements were graceful and not hurried, she never paused.
About five minutes later, Bai Bing had eaten two bowls of rice and about one-fifth of the food.
Though just one-fifth, Lin Xiâs cooking comprised large portions, enough for seven to eight people if they were typical guys.
This meant Bai Bing had eaten almost as much as two guys.
