Chapter 764
Bear-san Being Guided
A few days had passed since I came back from my short trip with Noa and the other girls.
I was staying at home after all that âgoing outâ.
As I slept with Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear as cushions, Fina, who was there to help with the dismantling of monsters I collected, scolded me, saying, âYuna-san, youâre so messy.â
âFina Mama is strict.â (Yuna)
Well, Fina scolded me for many things, but I was happy that she cared about me.
If I was living alone, there would be no one who would worry about me.
Lately, Iâve been spending my time relaxing, visiting the hot springs of the Land of Wa almost every day.
âYou came again today?â (Kagali)
Kagali-san said in a surprised voice.
âItâs fine. Itâs the house I was given, after all.â (Yuna)
âYeah, but be careful of getting found out by Suzuran.â (Kagali)
âI know.â (Yuna)
I headed to the hot springs with Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear, who had turned into cubs.
I took off my bear costume, got naked, washed my body, and entered the warm hot spring water.
And while I found nowhere better to relax than in a hot spring, the ones I preferred the most were those that have lukewarm waters.
âAhh~â (Yuna)
Oh, it felt good.
Iâd received something really nice from the emperor.
At first, I wondered if it was okay to receive such a big house with a hot spring, but Sakura and the others told me that it was a small price to pay considering that the country would have been destroyed by the giant serpent.
Since I received it, I would gratefully use it.
After enjoying the hot spring, I headed to Kagali-sanâs place.
As usual, Kagali-san was drinking alcohol in her little girl form.
âDrinking too much is not good for your health.â (Yuna)
âYou donât have to say the same things as Suzuran.â (Kagali)
âMaybe the reason you canât return to your original form is because youâre drinking too much alcohol?â (Yuna)
Kagali-san stopped drinking the cup in her hand at my words.
âI heard that drinking a small amount of alcohol is good for your health, but drinking too much is not.â (Yuna)
âWhat do you mean?â (Kagali)
âKagali-san is not like normal people. I think that the magic power to grow your body and strengthen your constitution is perhaps being used to heal the areas that have been damaged by alcohol.â (Yuna)
âNow that I think about it, the last time I returned to normal, it was after hibernating for a long time, so I wasnât drinking during those times.â (Kagali)
âThen you should refrain from drinking alcoholâŠâ (Yuna)
âThatâs impossible!â (Kagali)
As Kagali-san answered, her hand, which was holding the cup, shifted to her mouth and she gulped down the alcohol.
âThereâs no way I can quit drinking!â (Kagali)
Even if she said it so forcefully, nothing would happen. I didnât drink alcohol, so I didnât know how delicious it was.
I wondered if alcohol was something that one couldnât simply quit drinking.
There was a word called abstinence, but it may be difficult to do.
It might be the same as when I couldnât stop playing games, anime, or reading manga.
But I was able to quit because I didnât have them when I came to this world, but I do still miss them.
If I had them in this world, I would play games and read manga once more.
I was curious about the sequel to that game I was playing, as well as the continuation of that manga.
It was difficult to give up something you really enjoy doing.
Well, Kagali-san was not a bad drunk at the very least, so she didnât cause trouble for others.
And if she couldnât return to her adult form because of alcohol, that was her own fault.
If she understood her situation, then I think it was okay to let her drink as much as she liked.
However, there were people who were worried about Kagali-san, so I hoped she took care of herself.
I remembered Fina worrying about me.
I should try not to make Fina worry as much as possible.
There was a saying that goes, âLearn from othersâ mistakes.â
I was thinking about this while looking at Kagali-san.
âCome over here, Swaying Bear.â (Kagali)
Kagali-san called Swaying Bear.
Swaying Bear obediently headed towards Kagali-san.
Did that mean they trust Kagali-san?
When Swaying Bear came near, Kagali-san asked me to make Swaying Bear normal size. When I returned Swaying Bear to normal size, Kagali-san leaned on Swaying Bear.
âFeels goodâ (Kagali)
âKuuuuâ
âFoxes are still number one for me, but Iâll give number two to Bearsâ (Kagali)
âKuuuâ
âYouâre number one? You are certainly great, but only second place in my opinion. I canât give you the number one position!â (Kagali)
Somehow, they started fighting over who would be number one and number two between the foxes and the bears, but it was the usual, so I let them be.
I moved to the window with the Hugging Bear, returned the Hugging Bear to normal size, and leaned on the Hugging Bear like Kagali-san.
Then I looked outside.
A beautiful lake.
It was peaceful.
The only sound I could hear was Kagali-san drinking.
Time passed calmly, and that day I slept in the house in the Land of Wa.
The next day, I was woken up by the morning sun.
Kagali-san was sleeping while holding Swaying Bear.
Swaying Bear was holding Kagali-san so that she wouldnât catch a cold.
They got along well, despite their arguments.
âOh, itâs morning already.â (Kagali)
As I stood up and stretched my body, Kagali-san also woke up.
âGood morning. Iâll prepare breakfast. Do you want some?â (Yuna)
âYes, let me have some.â (Kagali)
I took out the bread that Morin-san had baked from the bear box.
I prepared some fruit for Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear.
âSo, what are your plans for today?â (Kagali)
I havenât decided anything in particular.
I didnât have a job, so I lived a carefree life.
Although I knew that loafing around was not good, I was lazy by nature, and I didnât take the initiative to work.
I thought for a moment. Seeing Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear eating fruitâŠ
âAlright, I think Iâll go pick some fruits from Targui.â (Yuna)
I decided to replenish our fruit supplies.
âThen Iâll go with you.â (Kagali)
âKagali-san wants to join me?â (Yuna)
âItâs just to kill time.â (Kagali)
Well, I had no problem with that, so I agreed.
After breakfast, Kagali-san and I used the Bear Transfer Gate to move to the top of Targui.
âI really canât believe that this is on the Targui.â (Kagali)
I wouldnât have believed it either.
This creature was written as the [Targui] in a book left behind by someone who was investigating this place, so no one could judge whether it was actually called that or not.
After all, the Targui was a legendary creature.
Kagali-san and I mounted Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear and moved to the place where the fruits were located.
There were apples, bananas, oranges, and various other fruits.
There were even fruits resembling peaches.
Even strawberries, so we secured them.
It was nice to have various fruits and vegetables regardless of the season.
âCan I take some as a souvenir to Sakura?â (Kagali)
âSure.â (Yuna)
Kagali-san gathered fruits with Swaying Bear.
I also gathered fruits with Hugging Bear.
âLook, those berries look tasty.â (Kagali)
âKuuuuh.â
Kagali-san pointed and let Swaying Bear pick them.
Kagali-san was short, so it couldnât be helped. Swaying Bear complained, but still picked the fruits that Kagali pointed at.
âWeâve gathered quite a lot.â (Yuna)
âIt would be a waste if we couldnât eat them all, so I wonder if this is good enough?â (Kagali)
It would be fine for me because I had my bear box, but I didnât think Kagali-sanâs item bag had its time frozen, that was why she said so.
âAlright, this should be good enough.â (Kagali)
âIf thereâs anything you want to eat, we can just come again.â (Yuna)
There was the Bear Transfer Gate after all, so we could come back here anytime.
I was wondering where the Targui was currently, so Kagali-san and I decided to look around before heading back.
âBy the way, have you been to
that
town?â (Kagali)
âYou mean the town where the slime incident happened?â (Yuna)
From what Kagali-san said, I thought that she might be talking about the town with the giant slime.
âThatâs right.â (Kagali)
âHmmm⊠I havenât been there.â (Yuna)
âIs that so?â (Kagali)
âBut if I have some time, Iâd like to visit that place again.â (Yuna)
It would also be nice to go to other towns connected to that town.
Maybe I would meet those two again.
âIf you do go, Iâll accompany you.â (Kagali)
Perhaps since Kagali-san had finished her role of watching over the seal of the giant serpent, she now had a lot of spare time.
She seemed to have fun when she went to the elf village.
âAlright, Iâll ask you at that time.â (Yuna)
Kagali-san and I rode Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear around Targui.
âAll I can see is the sea.â (Kagali)
âIndeed.â (Yuna)
As usual, all we could see was nothing but the sea.
A few days ago, when I came here with Noa and the others, there was nothing around but the sea as well.
The Targui was moving in the direction of 12 oâclock, and was moving clockwise from 6 oâclock.
When we climbed to the top of the Targui we watched in the 9 oâclock direction.
I thought we wouldnât see anything, but when we looked in the 1 oâclock direction, we found something like an island.
âA snowy mountain?â (Yuna)
What I saw was a white mountain.
âThatâs what it looks like.â (Kagali)
âI wonder if people live there.â (Yuna)
âI also wonder.â (Kagali)
Well, we couldnât really see anything with just the naked eye.
All we could see from here was a snowy mountain.
Unlike the Land of Wa, there were no ships around here.
So, from here, I couldnât tell if there were people living in that place.
âBesides, itâs probably not suitable for people to live there.â (Kagali)
I knew that some people live in snowy mountains, but places without snow were places much easier to live in.
It had been a while since Iâd seen land from the Targui, so Iâd like to go there.
While I was thinking about what to do, the mouth of the white Bear-san puppet on my left hand glowed.
What?
I checked my bear box and found an item glowing.
âIs that the thing you got from when we fought the giant serpent?â (Kagali)
âYes.â (Yuna)
The [Bear Signpost].
It was found after we defeated the giant serpent.
âThe light is aimed towards that snowy mountain.â (Kagali)
Just as Kagali-san said, the [Bear Signpost] I took out of my bear box glowed, and a single beam of light was now connected towards the snowy mountain.
