Mary blankly stared at the two figures standing before her inside her extravagant, overly dramatic throne room.
She blinked slowly.
"Are you fucking serious right now? Divorce? Youâre actually standing here and saying the D-word? What the fuck?"
As unhinged and unpredictable as Mary was known to be, even this situation felt like it had taken a nosedive into some kind of twisted absurdity.
Divorce? Seriously?
They got married just yesterday. Yesterday. The wedding scent probably hadnât even faded from their clothesâand now they were talking about ending it?
Maryâs eyes darted from Aether to Nyx and back, as her brain tried to reassemble whatever sanity had just fallen apart.
"What the actual fuck."
Mary blinked again. Her gaze fixed on Aether, and for a brief moment, the silence crackedâsomething in her eyes clicked as realization crept in.
"Oh... Ohhh...."
A slow, knowing smirk curled on her lips.
She got it now.
He was bad in bed.
That had to be it.
âFu~Fu~â
She let out a soft, smug little giggle, completely satisfied by the conclusion she had drawn in her head.
"I didnât know you were a quickie guy~ Thatâs so fucking lame~"
Aetherâs lips twitched violently... He didnât need to look at her expression to know she was swimming in the filthiest assumptions possible.
"Itâs not what you think it is."
Mary blinked slowly, tilting her head like a curious bird.
"Oh? Then what is it, Mr. One-Pump Wonder?"
"Sheâs asking for a baby... in one single day."
Aether muttered that with such a dead tone.
Mary paused, mouth slightly open, eyes narrowing.
"Come again?"
She turned her gaze to Nyx, her expression now a mix of bewilderment and concern, as if trying to calculate if Nyx had hit her head somewhere between the wedding and now.
Aether added, sounding even more tired than before,
"Apparently, someone told her that... all you have to do is sleep togetherâlike, literally just sleepâand poof, baby pops out the next morning."
Maryâs face froze mid-expression.
Her mind reeled.
She needed a moment.
She squinted.
"...Which bitch told you that?"
Aether slowly turned to stare at her blankly. Nyx, too, had her gaze locked onto her with eerie intensity.
Mary blinked again.... Her hand slowly raised and pointed to herself.
"... Me?"
Nyx nodded seriously. Too seriously.
Mary just sat there.
"...."
Silence.
More blinking.
Then she slapped her forehead lightly and chuckled.
"Yup! If itâs me, then itâs definitely right!!"
She nodded with full confidence, her chest puffed with delusional authorityâbut deep down, she wasnât completely sure when the hell she mightâve blurted something like that to Nyx.
Maybe it was during a wine-fueled midnight talk? Or when she was half-asleep, babbling about life and blood?
Veins popped on Aetherâs forehead. His fingers curled into fists at his sides. Mary had been getting on his nerves since he arrived.
Nyx, however, looked completely vindicated.
She smiled with a strange sort of holy satisfaction, turned to Aether, and declared in a firm, almost noble tone,
"So thatâs why I want a divorce! I cannot be with someone like him!!"
Aether exhaled sharply, his breath nearly turning into smoke. Yesterday, she had been all smiles, warm gazes, and clingy affectionâsnuggling him like a newlywed ought to.
And now? Now she looked at him like heâd personally killed her favorite puppy.
He didnât get it.
Mary frowned deeply. She tapped her fingers on the armrest of her throne, calculating. She couldnât let this marriage fall apart, not after everything was on the lineâLiaâs life.
Aether clenched his jaw. He couldnât afford to lose Nyx. Not now. He had come this farâthere was no turning back. He needed to make her his, no matter what it took.
Besides... she held his ownership now.
Aether shook his head with a pitiful sigh, voice dripping with sorrow.
"Well, I guess thatâs it then. Letâs just divorce, and Iâll go back to my beloved Liâ"
"Morgana."
Maryâs voice sliced through the room like a blade dipped in ice. Cold, sharp, and absolute.
A slow, sly smirk formed on Aetherâs lips.
He knew exactly how to poke this particular beast.
"Your Majesty?"
The air itself shimmeredârippling like water under moonlightâas an unmistakable scent of roses mixed with something darker, almost sinful, began to seep into the space.
And then she appeared.
A woman stepped out from behind the throne with an effortless glide.
She was beautiful in the most dangerous way.
Long, cascading waves of sapphire-blue hair flowed down her back like a waterfall, shimmering with a faint glow. Her skin was flawlessâpale, glowing softly like moonlight on porcelainâbut there was nothing cold about her.
She radiated heat. Temptation. Hunger.
Her eyes... pearl blue, glowing softly, deep and endless like an ocean waiting to drown you. They sparkled with mischief and cruelty, curiosity and knowing... like sheâd already undressed everyone in the room in her mind.
A blue silk robe hugged her curves like it had been stitched directly onto her body. It was barely fastened at the waist, leaving a scandalous view of her breastsâample, high, and proudly displayed with no effort to cover them.
Her legs, long and sculpted, were revealed through high slits that ran up her thighs.
A dark violet corset laced tightly around her waist, pushing her curves to sinful perfection.
And behind her... swayed a long, elegant tail. Smooth and glossy, with a dagger-shaped tip that twitched like a cat ready to pounce.
Aetherâs gaze snapped toward her, and his breath caught. His pupils dilated without permission. His thoughts scattered, replaced by instinct and heat. Every cell in his body screamed a silent, primal alert.
âQueen of Succubus.â
This was no ordinary seductress.
He remembered her clearly nowâ Morgana. Aunt of Lia.
Maryâs attention turned to Nyx. Her gaze hardened as she addressed Nyx in a commanding tone.
"Nyx Shadowfall. I know youâre disappointed with your little toy here... but you just got married yesterday. There is absolutely no need to escalate this nonsense. First, letâs try a civilised approach. Counselling."
She couldnât believe she was saying those lines in her life... life was really hard when Aether came to her!
She waved a hand, gesturing elegantly toward Morgana.
"Iâll have Morgana teach you the real ritual of making babies."
Nyx tilted her head, completely baffled.
"Real ritual? So... just sleeping together isnât the correct one?"
Mary rolled her eyes and sighed like a tired teacher correcting a very slow student.
"Itâs technically right... but thereâs more to that sleep than just lying there, clearly. Since no one gave you the full lecture, Morgana will handle your... advanced lessons."
Then, with a small lean toward Morgana, Mary whispered under her breathâbut not low enough to escape Aetherâs ears.
"Suck him dry, Morgana. Make sure he never wakes up."
Morgana grinned, licking her lips playfully before nodding with an oddly serious expression. Her gaze drifted toward Aether like a predator noticing its dinner had legs and was still trying to run.
Aether blinked in disbelief.
"What? Waitâshe? Isnât she... married?"
Morgana scoffed, amused as she casually walked toward them with hips swaying dangerously.
"Why do you care? That has nothing to do with you, darling. Stay in your lane."
Nyx sighed deeply,
"This ritual... does it take time? I mean... if it works, when exactly will the baby appear?"
Mary tapped her chin, thinking.
"For vampires? Fifty years or so. But you... Youâre half-human, half-dead. I have no idea. Could take longer. Could be instant. Could be never. Who knows? Honestly, youâre like a magical wild card."
Aetherâs eyes widened.
Half-human? Half dead? What the hell did that even mean?
He turned and stared at Nyx, who looked perfectly normal. Normal-ish.
Nyx let out another tired sigh, clearly done with everything. She turned without a word and began walking away, followed closely by the ever-smirking Morgana.
Aether remained where he stood, turning his attention back to Mary. His voice dropped into a serious, dangerous tone.
"Do you really think you can keep Lia away from me?"
Maryâs playful expression vanished in an instant. Her face turned icy, cold as winter wind.
"Boy, just because Iâm smiling... doesnât mean Iâm silent. The only reason youâre still breathing is because of my daughter. Donât forget that. You could kill Master Snape, or a thousand more like himâI wouldnât give a damn. But you? Youâre nothing to me. Just a walking pile of flesh."
Her lips curled in disgust.
"You donât even interest me enough to hate. And as for giving my precious baby to you? Hah. Donât flatter yourself."
Aether stared at her for a moment, eyes calm. He knew this wasnât going to be easy. Taking Lia from her would be like stealing from a dragon sitting on a hoard of explosives.
Still, he smiled.
"Well then... letâs see about that."
Without waiting for a response, he turned and walked out of the throne room, his footsteps echoing down the marble hall.
Mary watched his back as he disappeared. She clicked her tongue with an annoyed sound and leaned back into her throne.
"What a pain... Of all the creatures, why did she have to fall in love with that empty thing?"
