Jax heard that name.
Jaxon.
His real name. He hadnāt heard it in so long.
āIs she gone mad?ā
"Hey, are you alright?" He tilted his head. "I havenāt even started breaking you and youāre already behaving senseless. You even forgot your brotherās name."
He crossed his arms mockingly.
"I mean, even I donāt forget names that fast. And here you are forgetting your own brotherās name. Like, seriously?"
Her eyes burned with anger.
"Harry isnāt my real brother."
Jax raised an eyebrow.
"Oh. So this Jaxon guy, huh?" He scratched his chin. "And where is he? Was he in that horde of yours? Or was he just chilling in this kingdom watching his army and his sister break?"
He showed fake caution. Looked around dramatically.
"Oh, I should prepare for him then. Where is he? Is he outside this window?"
He peeked out the window.
"Or is he under the bed?"
He crouched down and checked under the bed.
"Oh shit, I forgot the blanket. He may be under that, hanging onto that manās cock."
He stood up and pretended to panic.
"Whereās my sword? Iām scared."
Masha made a sound of disgust.
"Tsk."
Then her expression shifted. Sadness filled her eyes.
"Laugh all you want."
She looked at the floor.
"If he was with me, you wouldnāt be standing here. Just a single tear of mine and he would trade it with blood."
Her voice grew quieter.
"Even in a world with no magic. No stupid strength. Strict violence laws. He had did those things"
She paused.
"Youāre lucky heās back on that stupid Earth."
Jaxās blood boiled.
Someone hyping up another person. Saying they were superior. Right in front of him.
His hands went to his pants. Ready to unzip. Ready to give her the most painful experience he had ever delivered.
But then.
That last word.
Earth.
His mind froze.
Dots started connecting.
Her brother. Jaxon. Earth. Same laws. No magic.
And the most important thing that made his heart beat faster.
She said her brother wasnāt Harry. It was Jaxon. And she trusted this brother so completely. He had stood as a shield for her. That tear and blood stuff.
It reminded him of someone.
Someone he knew better than anyone.
Himself
He was confused.
He looked at her. Still sobbing. Eyes on the floor.
A disturbing thought entered his mind.
āWould she be...ā
But he couldnāt jump to conclusions. There could be other worlds named Earth. Many people named Jaxon. And the bond between siblings could be that strong anywhere.
He didnāt rush to conclusion.
He was thinking what to do now.
Then his instinct screamed at him.
Say it.
Slowly, carefully, he spoke.
"Ma... Maya?"
She looked up. Teary face.
"What?"
Then she realized the name he just said.
Her eyes went wide. Terror flooded her expression.
She was still processing.
Meanwhile, Jaxās world split apart.
He looked at his own hands.
The crime he was about to commit.
A sin against his own sister.
The sister he adored. The sister he raised by himself. The sister he spoiled. Protected. Swore his life for.
And here he was.
About to break her.
For revenge. For gains from the system. For his lust.
Tears started filling his eyes.
He didnāt know what to do next.
Then Maya spoke.
"M-Maya?" Her voice trembled. "How... how do you know my name?"
Her words shook.
"Do you... do you know me? Have we... have we met?"
Jax couldnāt hold back anymore.
He ran toward her.
Maya expected a beating.
She closed her eyes. Braced herself.
But the pain never came.
Instead, she felt warmth.
Tears dropping from above. Landing on her shoulders.
Jax had wrapped his arms around her. Holding her tightly.
And he was sobbing.
"Iām sorry, Maya. Iām..."
He didnāt know how to apologize.
"Your brother failed to keep his promise. To protect you."
His grip tightened.
"Your brother is the one who scared you. Threatened you. More than those people who came after us because of me."
His voice cracked.
"I failed, Maya. As a brother. I failed."
Maya stood frozen.
Her mind raced. Connecting dots. Processing.
Brother. Jaxon. Knows her name. Apologizing. Crying.
It all led to one conclusion.
Her face lit up with happiness.
"Jaxon?"
She whispered it. Still in that tight hug.
He didnāt reply.
Just held her tighter.
Moments passed.
Then he spoke.
"Yes. I am your brother. The one who fell short of his oath. The one who let you down. The one who failed in his duty."
His voice broke.
"When his sister still believed in him. Even in her own misery. Even knowing it was foolish to bring his name here."
He was totally broken.
She could feel it in his grip. In his tears. In his shaking body.
It was him.
Her brother.
She had found him.
The most precious thing in her world. In any world.
And seeing him this broken.
She hugged him back.
Not as tightly as him. But gentle. Caring.
"Brother..."
That single word.
His grip loosened.
She pulled back slightly. Looked at his face. Saw the tears streaming down.
Her hands reached up. Wiped the tears from his cheeks.
"Why are you feeling sorry?"
Her voice was soft.
"Have you done anything to me? Look."
She gestured at herself.
"Iām fine. And the happy part? Or whatever that is? Again when I was in danger, you were there. Isnāt that right?"
She smiled.
"However this time the threat was you yourself."
She added, "And seeing your perspective, you had beef with my army. Not your sisterās army. You had no idea who I was. Just like I didnāt know you were my dumbass from the start."
She laughed.
"You think you failed? The one who failed was me. I didnāt recognize my own brother. Even with the same personality. The same arrogance. The same ego. And of course, the same confidence."
Her laugh grew lighter.
"And why the hell are you crying when Iām not even hurt? Not a scratch on me."
She paused.
"Well, it wouldāve been worse if we didnāt recognize each other. You know how scared I was? The punishment I thought was coming?"
Her face turned red with embarrassment.
"I... I donāt even know if I peed a little inside. In horror."
Despite everything, a small laugh escaped Jax.
He closed the distance.
Placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.
"Didnāt I tell you?"
His voice steadied.
"Never be afraid of anyone. Because as long as your brother is breathing, as long as blood flows in these veins, no harm will ever touch you. Not in this world. Not in any world."
Maya felt the relief wash over her.
Her brother was finally fine.
