Chapter 2245: Chapter 2254: The Warmth of Being Cared For
Half an hour later.
Enna Clark returned to the Lawrence Family castle alone.
The housekeeper was already waiting outside with the servants.
As soon as the car stopped, the housekeeper quickly bent down to open the car door for her, "Young Madam, be careful not to hit your head."
He courteously held the car door for Enna Clark, to prevent her from accidentally bumping her head while getting out, and assisted Enna as she stepped out of the car.
"Thank you." Enna felt embarrassed and quickly got out of the car.
The housekeeperâs face, weathered by the years, was kindly and approachable. He smiled as he took a coat from a nearby servant and draped it over Ennaâs shoulders, saying, "Young Madam, no need to be so polite with me. These are all things I ought to do. Lord Lawrence called earlier saying you were only in your nightgown, so I brought you a coat. Young Madam, please go inside, itâs cold out here. Be careful not to catch a cold."
Warmed by the clothing and the care she received, Enna felt a warmth enveloping her as she nodded, her eyes crinkling with a smile, "Alright."
She followed the housekeeper inside.
As the housekeeper guided her through the corridors, he said softly, "The Old Lord has been waiting for you for over two hours. Itâs good that youâre okay, Young Madam. You might not know, but the Old Lord has been very worried about your health since he saw the online news. Thankfully, you are fine, and seeing you well will put the Old Lordâs mind at ease."
"Online news?" Enna was still in the dark. During her time on the island, she had been mostly kept in bed by Baron, with hardly any time to check the news.
So she didnât know there were rumors outside saying she couldnât speak.
"Itâs nothing, just people online making stuff up to get clicks, fabricating stories about you losing your voice, Young Madam."
As soon as the news came out, he knew that the situation wasnât as serious as the news made it out to be.
If it were really that severe, at the very least, the Young Master would have sent a message back.
The Old Lord actually knew in his heart, but he was still worried about the Young Madamâs health. Though he said nothing aloud, he couldnât hold back for two days before calling Lord Lawrence, insisting he and the Young Madam come back.
He stifled a smile, holding back a grin.
The Old Lord was just like that, caring about the Young Madam but still wanting to pretend he didnât fully approve of her.
He, having worked beside him for so many years, knew better.
When had he ever seen someone he didnât approve of get through the door?
If the Old Lord truly disapproved of someone, having kids wouldnât help.
The Young Masterâs birth mother was an example of that.
Didnât the Old Lord love the Young Master?
Of course, he did!
But the Young Masterâs birth mother never became a part of the Lawrence Family in her lifetime.
But the Young Madam was different. The fact that the Young Master could marry the Young Madam, and the Old Lord himself arranged it, speaks volumes. It shows the Old Lord truly likes the Young Madam, even if he wonât admit it due to his pride.
If it werenât for the little Young Master and Young Miss as chips, it would never have moved him.
"The Old Lord was really worried about you this time, Young Madam. Though he doesnât say it, he hasnât been resting well these past few days. So when the doctor comes to check on you later, I hope youâll cooperate for the sake of the Old Lord."
Enna wasnât aware that Old Master Lawrence had called a personal doctor for her, and hearing the housekeeperâs words, she pursed her lips, her bright eyes filled with concern, asking, "Grandpa hasnât been resting well these days? How about his appetite?"
