Chapter 2280: Chapter 2289: She Trusts Baron Lawrence
Assistant Terrence hurriedly brought in the coffee from outside and saw the scene.
The serene and gentle figure sat peacefully on the sofa, leafing through a finance book in her hands, seemingly undisturbed.
As she sat there, just being near her made oneâs heart naturally calm down.
Assistant Terrenceâs anxious heart unconsciously calmed down a lot too, and he couldnât understand why the President sought a substitute outside when the Young Madam had such current looks and temperament.
Not that he was saying anything.
From a purely male perspective, the body of that substitute was indeed a bit more alluring than the Young Madamâs.
But the overall temperament fell far short.
It was completely not on the same level.
If it were up to him, he wouldnât abandon the Young Madam to choose that substitute.
"Young Madam, your coffee." Assistant Terrence felt indignant for Enna Clark in his heart, but he dared not show it on his face, respectfully setting down the coffee cup.
"Thank you."
Enna Clark lifted her head, gave a slight smile, and said.
"You go take care of your work, donât mind me. Iâll be here reading for a bit, waiting for Baron Lawrence to return."
Assistant Terrence hesitated a bit, but still said, "Young Madam, why donât I give the President a call and let him know youâre waiting for him at the company."
"No. Didnât you say he was socializing? I donât have much going on anyway, so waiting a bit is no big deal. Better not disturb him."
"I see." Assistant Terrence wasnât sure where Baron Lawrence was at the moment, so he could only say, "Alright then, Young Madam, take a rest here. If you need anything, just call for me."
"Okay."
Before leaving, he added, "If the Young Madam waits two hours and the President hasnât come back, Iâll call the President then."
What if President Lawrence took that substitute out for a date and didnât plan on returning all day?
Wouldnât the Young Madam be waiting in vain?
After all, President Lawrence had instructed him to clear the entire dayâs schedule, so it wasnât impossible.
Out of conscience, he didnât want Enna Clark to be waiting for so long in vain.
"Alright." Enna Clark nodded.
"Young Madam, Iâm leaving now."
"Go manage your work."
Assistant Terrence left and, as he was leaving, closed the office door for her.
After he left, Enna Clark picked up the coffee and took a sip.
Assistant Terrence made her favorite cappuccino, and the coffee beans were specially flown in from the Netherlands by someone, extremely expensive.
So it tasted particularly good.
Enna Clark took a sip, and the aroma of the coffee beans spread between her lips and teeth...
She wasnât deaf, nor was she slow to react. She heard all too clearly the gossip from the female employees earlier in the company. Plus, given Assistant Terrenceâs response, she could pretty much confirm that the person who came to the company this morning looking for Baron Lawrence, who looked a lot like her, was Miranda Lewis.
She remembered that not long ago, when they went to the movies, her son Bobby said Miranda Lewis looked a bit like her.
Olivia seemed to have said the same.
Earlier, she hadnât felt it, maybe because Mirandaâs face wasnât particularly similar to hers then.
But at yesterdayâs party, she kept feeling that looking at Mirandaâs face became increasingly strange.
Now looking back, the reason she felt so uncomfortable looking at Mirandaâs face was probably because Miranda became more and more like her. Not just the face, but even some behaviors, mannerisms, speaking styles, were all deliberately mimicking her.
Thatâs why she felt so awkward!
However, no matter what she heard or saw, she didnât believe any of it.
She only believed in Baron Lawrence!
She trusted him.
So, no matter what rumors were outside, she wanted to hear his explanation first.
