Chapter 1179: Chapter 5: Saving Lives
Sell her as a slave?
The young human girl, already beaten and covered in bruises, trembled upon hearing this.
Though born poor, she was at least a free person.
If she became a slave, she would end up being a captive of the Half-Beasts or Beastmen, a fate worse than death.
"No, please donât sell me, my mother is very ill. If I canât return, she will die," the little girl, seemingly finding strength from nowhere, broke free from the Half-Beastsâ grasp.
Desperately, she sprinted into the crowd.
Unfortunately, due to her young age and injuries, she stumbled after just a few steps.
Unexpectedly, she didnât fall to the ground but onto someoneâs embrace.
This person lacked the usual pungent odor of Half-Beasts, instead giving off a faint fragrance.
"You have no choice, being a thief," the Half-Beast doctor said impatiently, watching as the human girl fell into an onlookerâs arms and stepped forward to catch her.
"Please, donât hand me over, I donât want to be a slave," the little girl, clinging to her last lifeline, refused to let go.
"Rest assured, I wonât hand you over," a pleasant voice drifted from above.
Through tear-filled eyes, the girl looked up.
She saw a smiling face, a human womanâs face.
"Impertinent, meddling in the clinicâs affairs. Do you know the doctor and the Town Mayor are brothers sworn in blood? Quickly hand over the thief in your arms. What are these guards even useful for, letting humans in so casually," the Half-Beast doctor said disdainfully, finding the other person was also human.
"If my eyesight isnât failing me, this little girl hasnât stolen anything of yours. On what grounds do you sell her to pay debts?" Yun Sheng gave the Half-Beast doctor a hard look.
Yun Sheng sighed inwardly, such bad luck, even drinking water made her choke. Originally, she didnât want to meddle, but she couldnât bear to see such an obedient little girl being sold as a slave, holding the girl tighter in her arms.
The words of the girl reminded Yun Sheng of her situation at six or seven years old. Back then, in Banana Leaf Village, she was also alone, relying on her father.
But compared to this pitiful human girl, she was luckier. At least most villagers and the village chief in Banana Leaf Village took care of her, and there was no discrimination against humans on Wuji Continent.
"Then Iâll sell you together with her! Someone, tie these two women up and send them to the slave market," the Half-Beast doctor, emboldened by his ties with Town Mayor Hu Yixue, grew even more fearless.
Behind him, several fierce-looking Half-Beasts charged forward.
"Well, you asked for it. Little girl, close your eyes," Yun Sheng sighed softly.
Her voice, like possessing an invisible magic power, made the trembling little girl close her eyes instinctively.
The girl felt a gust of wind by her ears, as if she was being lifted into the air.
Following that, came a series of agonized cries.
The Half-Beast doctor stood dumbfounded, witnessing an incredible scene.
The seemingly frail human woman vanished suddenly.
She appeared again, with agonized screams echoing continuously.
The Half-Beasts intending to capture Yun Sheng and the human girl saw a flash of blood before their eyes. Simultaneously, they felt sharp pain in their arms, and upon realization, their arms had been severed, the dismembered limbs rolling on the ground.
The scene was both terrifying and gruesome.
Hearing those screams, the girl in Yun Shengâs arms couldnât help but shiver.
Those who had been besieging the human woman fell silent, their eyes filled with fear, staring at Yun Sheng.
The woman remained where she stood, and if not for the severed limbs on the ground, no one would believe she had moved at all.
"You! Are you a Heavenly Fox or a human?" the Half-Beast doctor, shocked beyond belief, pointed at Yun Sheng as if heâd seen a ghost.
Though she appeared to be a human, her skills were terrifying.
Such power fluctuations were usually seen in those very powerful Pureblood Sky Foxes.
Being able to freely enter and exit the town, with such formidable strength, yet judging by appearance and scent, she was unmistakably a human.
"Considering you are a doctor, Iâll spare your hands," Yun Sheng held the girl tightly without glancing at the Half-Beast doctor, and left gracefully.
"Weâll see, dare to harm the clinicâs people, Iâll make you pay," the Half-Beast doctor sneered.
Earlier, the girl had stolen medicinal herbs containing a special herb, its scent lasting seven days and nights. Following the scent, he was sure to find the woman who attacked.
The Half-Beast doctor hurried to the Town Mayorâs residence, seeking aid from Hu Yixue.
"What? A human woman attacked the clinicâs people?" Hu Yixue had been closely monitoring Yun Sheng.
However, Yun Shengâs cautious behavior had kept his Hidden Guards from gathering any information or discerning whether she was a Pureblood Sky Fox or human.
Thus, the matter had been dragged on.
Yet today, that woman had clashed with the clinic staff.
The town knew the Half-Beast doctor of the clinic was sworn brothers with Hu Yixue, and no one dared provoke the clinic.
"So you know this woman, eh? Hmph, she is undoubtedly a human, lacking a Pureblood Sky Fox aura," the Half-Beast doctor insisted.
"Oh, are you certain?" Hu Yixue listened with skepticism.
If she were truly human, could she injure several Half-Beast Warriors so swiftly?
"Brother, donât you trust me? My nose is famously accurate, even blindfolded, I can identify species by scent. Plus, I found her aura unfamiliar, maybe sheâs not from Bahuang Continent," the Half-Beast doctor added, fearing Hu Yixueâs disbelief.
Not from Bahuang Continent, could it be she was from Wuji Continent? Itâs said Wuji Continent Masters rival the pure-blooded Beastmen of the Eight Desolates.
If she is indeed a Wuji Continent human spy, capturing her would be a major achievement.
"In any case, attacking Half-Beasts in Crescent Spring Town is a capital offense. Investigate the identity and background of the human girl, I want to wipe out these despicable humans," Hu Yixueâs eyes gleamed with a bloodthirsty killing intent.
