Chapter 530: Chapter 503: Increasingly Arrogant
Carlosâs wings stirred powerful currents in the air as he landed steadily in the square before Oduin Hall.
Blanche leaped from the Dragonâs back and hurried toward the residences, with Elron close behind her.
The Knight Guards of the Royal Palace saw this but did not stop them.
Just then, Garrett emerged from Oduin Hall with his men.
The woman standing beside Count Ural studied the Giant Dragon lying prostrate in the square, a covetous light glinting in her eyes.
âThis is what Mephisto was looking for. The descendant of a Legendary Creature, a powerful being that could rival a Sage once fully grown!â
"Yes, my lady. Although this Dragon is only Eighth-level at the moment, it caused us considerable trouble during the battle of Mist City."
"Only Eighth-level. Compared to a Legendary Giant Dragon, thatâs a huge difference."
Serdil thought to herself, âIf I could find a way to enslave it, it would make for an exceptionally powerful vessel.â
At that moment, Garrett led his entourage down the steps.
"Blanche, youâre back!"
In the past, Blanche had always been evasive when facing Garrett. But now, as a Duchess, she could no longer appear timid in front of others.
"Garrett, my brother, tell me, how is Father?"
Garrett shook his head. "I regret to inform you that our father has already died by an assassinâs blade."
"No, thatâs impossible!"
Blancheâs face turned deathly pale in an instant. She couldnât believe the news.
Garrettâs gaze was sinister, his tone laced with a burgeoning fury. "The assassinâs identity has also been confirmed. It was your husband, Ronin!"
If Blanche could still process the first sentence, the second one left her completely stunned.
"Thatâs impossible!"
She took a shocked step back, but her tone was firm.
Garrett sneered inwardly. He knew his sister was simple-minded and cared deeply for their father, so she was bound to come as soon as she heard the news.
He emphasized, "The Knights and the Guards all saw it. This is an irrefutable fact."
"Impossible! Ronin has been with me this whole time. Thereâs no way he could have come here. Youâre slandering him!"
"For a Proud Sun Knight who has a Giant Dragon, how long would it take to travel from Wubei Territory to Golden Feather City? Can you guarantee that Ronin was in your sight at all times?"
Elron glanced at Garrett and the lineup behind him, and he saw familiar figures.
Count Ural, as well as Ference and Andrea.
âItâs a trap!â
He didnât want to waste time arguing. He grabbed Blancheâs arm directly. "Duchess, we have to go! Now!"
The Power of Light erupted. Elron instantly cast Flash Skill and Aurora Shadow, hurtling toward Carlos at incredible speed.
"Carlos, come here!"
Carlos had wanted to take a short nap, but the humansâ conversation had already woken him.
Seeing Elronâs actions, he knew the priority was to get Blanche away from this dangerous place.
ROARâ
The violent roar shook the entire Golden Feather Palace. All the birds, beasts, and even the human Knights trembled, and the immense pressure rendered most of them unable to move.
However, not everyone present was an ordinary person.
"Donât let them leave!" Garrett bellowed.
SWOOSH, SWOOSH, SWOOSH!
Several figures shot out from behind them, blocking Elron and Blancheâs path.
At the same time, Serdil cast Wind Shadow Skill and rose into the sky.
"You big worm, donât you dare act mighty in front of me!"
She unfurled a Magic Scroll in her hand. A torrent of Wind Element energy gushed out, forming massive Chains between heaven and earth.
The Chains seemed alive, coiling around Carlos like a giant python before constricting, binding his wings shut.
ROAR!
Carlos felt immense pressure. He strained with all his might, snapping the Chains. He then opened his great maw, and a massive Ice Arrow formed and shot toward Serdil.
The Great Mage instantly summoned six or seven Walls of Sighs.
The Ice Arrow pierced through wall after wall, but was ultimately shattered, falling from the sky as glittering ice crystals.
"Wind Mages, go!"
More than a dozen figures flew up. Wings grew from their backs, and in an instant, they once again formed a Trapping Array, confining Carlos within it.
The corner of Serdilâs mouth curled up. They had been plotting to capture this Dragon for a long time. The first step was to separate Ronin and Carlos.
That was the reason for the disturbance at Moâer City. Once Ronin was lured away, the rest of the plan could begin.
So far, everything was going smoothly.
The dozen or so Wind Mages combined their Power, forming sharp Light Arrows that bombarded Carlosâs scales.
At the same time, Serdil struck again. The broken Wind Element Chains reformed, rapidly wrapping around Carlos until he was trussed up from head to tail.
"Letâs see you run now!"
Serdil sneered. "Dispel the Trapping and Killing Array! Chain this Dragon up for me!"
The dozen or so Wind Mages dispersed the Array. They flew swiftly through the air, passing special Chains between them at high speed to bind Carlos.
Four huge black spikes materialized in Serdilâs hand. They shot down from the sky, viciously pinning Carlosâs tail and wings.
"This..."
Everyone was stunned.
The Giant Dragon, which they had believed to be practically invincible, had been subdued in a matter of moments by this woman and her group of winged people.
The one most devastated was Elron. Carlos had been his greatest asset for escaping with Blanche, yet he had never expected this outcome.
"Still think you can escape?"
Garrett sneered. "Without the Giant Dragon, none of you are leaving the Golden Feather Palace today."
"What do you want?"
Elron demanded, "Youâre the Crown Prince of a Kingdom, the future heir, yet not only do you associate with an enemy Alien Race, you also attack the Kingdomâs Duchess without cause. This is an act of war against the entire Kingdom!"
"Alien Race? Thatâs just Roninâs side of the story!"
Garrett scoffed, "They have sworn fealty to me now. They are my followers, and they will help me unify all of Orland!"
He slowly drew his Longsword and pointed it at Elron. "I know you. The Bright Mage from Wubei Territory, the one who makes Enhancement Potions and Awakening Potions. If youâre willing to follow me, I can spare your life."
"Heh!"
Elron sneered. "You think I would pledge loyalty to a liar who consorts with Demons and an Alien Race? Is that even a possibility? And besides..."
He looked around at the assembled nobles. "In my opinion, it seems far more likely that *you* are the one who murdered His Majesty Bruno. What do you all think?"
The eyes of many of the nobles flickered.
But in the current climate, no one dared to speak rashly.
"Hmph!"
A bolt of Thunderbolt erupted from the tip of Garrettâs sword, striking Elron.
Although it was blocked by Elronâs Light Shield, the force of the impact still sent him flying, and he crashed to the ground.
"Today, I will kill you, Roninâs loyal servant, and grant my fatherâs spirit some peace!"
Blanche stepped in front of Garrett. "If youâre going to kill someone, kill me first!"
"You think I donât dare?"
Garrettâs eyes narrowed, glittering with murderous intent.
In this situation, his suppressed rage toward Ronin was boiling over. He felt like he had everything under his control.
If anyone dared to say no to him, his Longsword could take their head.
"When it comes to my enemies, I am not merciful like my father was!"
"She is your sister, Your Highness!"
Finally, someone couldnât bear to watch any longer.
Texas stepped forward and said respectfully, "As the Kingdomâs Minister of Justice, I must remind you that there is no direct evidence proving Duke Ronin is the murderer. This is merely your speculation."
"Oh? Are you trying to make excuses for Ronin, the man who murdered His Majesty?"
"No. I am simply offering my counsel in accordance with the laws of the Kingdom. Whether you are the Crown Prince or the future King, this is my duty."
"Youâve made your point, Texas. I will remember your counsel. I will remember it well."
Texas gave a slight bow and stepped back.
"I admire your courage, but I donât support your actions," Arsenno said in a low voice.
Texas gave a bitter smile. He knew that once the new King ascended the throne, he would likely lose his position as Minister of Justice.
But as the Minister of Justice, he couldnât just stand by and say nothing while watching the Crown Prince publicly disregard the law.
Garrett sheathed his Longsword.
"Laoshan, Kubi, take three Knight Squads and place the Duchess and this Bright Mage under guard."
"Yes, Your Highness!"
Everyone could see that he was planning to hold Blanche and Elron hostage.
Ference and Andrea exchanged a look, and both of them smiled.
The Crown Prince was certainly daring, willing to do anything right out in the open.
"Your Highness, what are your plans now?" Ference asked. "Will you assemble your forces and directly attack Wushan Territory and Moonlight Valley?"
Andrea added, "Iâve long known that the Wushan Clan harbored traitorous ambitions. The Villa Duchy is ready to serve the Crown Prince at a momentâs notice!"
MacLaren stepped forward with a smile. "Screaming Island is ready to serve Your Highness at any time!"
With the two great Duchies and the Screaming Sea Tyrant declaring their positions, many other nobles also threw in their lot, clamoring to deal with the Wushan Clan.
However, there were also those who remained silent.
Seeing the support he had garnered, Garrettâs heart swelled with ambition.
This was exactly the effect he wanted.
"No rush!"
He said with a smile, "Since our Minister of Justice says this is merely my speculation, then letâs have Ronin come and confront us first!"
"Of course, if he doesnât dare to come to Golden Feather City, it will only prove he has a guilty conscience and is indeed the one who murdered His Majesty. At that time, I will rally the entire Kingdomâs strength to first annihilate the Wushan Clan, those traitors, and then march on the Tricia Kingdom to fulfill my fatherâs final wish!"
If Ronin chose to come, he was doomed to fall into their traps and schemes.
But if Ronin didnât come, then just as Garrett said, he would be branded a kingslayer, a traitor, and an ingrate.
Garrett could then logically use this as a pretext to mobilize all the nobles and unite them to crush the Wushan Clan.
By then, Ronin would face an assault from two kingdoms and the entire Orland Continent. Even if there were still people like Texas, they wouldnât dare to step forward to question or object.
