Chapter 744: Eyes at the Horizon
After taking another look at where Lucienâs sister and mother lived for several years, he and Eve leave the ruined tower and head back to the old kingdom of Michael.
Lucien flies carrying Eve so they can return as quickly as possible, and both, like the Sins, have a lot to think about after the latest discoveries.
But Lucien is also curious about the story of his missing sister, so he asks Eve about it. "Can you tell me what happened to our sister?"
"Oh, I forgot to explain it to you." Eve quickly comments and then explains their story.
"I donât remember exactly when it happened, maybe I was seven or eight years old when Michael told me I had a twin sister." She speaks in a neutral tone.
Before, she would have been very sad to think about this, but now that she knows her sister is fine, only a bitter resentment towards Michael as a bad feeling remains.
"Why didnât he ever tell us about it?" Lucien canât help but ask.
Eve makes a disappointed expression. "I donât know, he was always a failure as a father... anyway, he said our sister was taken by the leader of the Silver Legion as a way to punish him for rebelling."
"That and killing my mother..." Eve becomes sad thinking about it. "Couldnât he have simply killed Michael?"
Lucien feels no pity for Michael, but he understands how such a punishment could be horrible.
Having his wife killed and daughter kidnapped would drive any man insane, so a part of Lucien begins to understand how his father became such a detestable person.
"Why didnât he take you too?" Lucien wonders out loud.
"Michael said he only found out about me when he arrived at my motherâs body... I guess I was lucky to be born later, or..." Eve wonders about that. "No, it was better this way, otherwise I couldnât have taken care of you hollow heads!"
Lucien is glad that Eve is in a good mood and canât resist hugging her tighter and kissing her lips while they fly.
She doesnât try to avoid the kiss but gives him a fake annoyed look. "You canât just keep kissing me like this in front of others!"
Lucien nods and kisses her lips again. "Then let me enjoy it now."
Eve lets Lucien kiss her, after all, she enjoys it very much too.
"Well..." She starts feeling very excited and before things get out of control, she goes back to talking about their sister.
"Michael told me that I should grow strong and help my siblings be strong too so that one day we could rescue our missing sister." Eve explains.
"He shouldnât have put such responsibility on your shoulders... especially when you were just a child." Lucien becomes angrier with his father.
"Thatâs what he always did, with all of us," Eve sighs. "But I donât understand why he needed us to do his job if he had such a strong ally like your mother..."
"I donât think she can be considered his ally." Lucien comments. "She even said she owed him nothing and we could decide his fate."
Eve wonders about that. "It makes sense; maybe he knew that and didnât expect her to help him... but what about us? She knew how he was treating us and didnât do-"
"Anything?" Lucien notices that Eve doesnât want to speak ill of his mother, but indeed the whole story seems very strange. "I donât know what to think yet, we need to understand what really happened."
"Mm," Eve nods. "Weâll do this, together."
"Together," Lucien repeats and kisses her lips again.
He also kisses her dozens of times more until they cross the old border between kingdoms and Lucien starts to feel the presence of his wives closer.
"Lucien?" Sophia is the first to sense him and manages to communicate even hundreds of miles away.
"We are back, love," he responds to her. "Is everything alright?"
"Yes, everyone is fine," Sophia reports. "But Naomi and Donna are quite stressed; they have been searching everywhere for any clue about what happened..."
"We have news, letâs meet at the mountain fortress." He tells Sophia and also begins sending mental messages to his other girls.
The girls didnât stray far from the fortress at Mayaâs request, who stayed vigilant, taking care of the group.
After a few hours, everyone returns to the fortress and Lucien arrives last with Eve.
Everyone seems eager for the news, but Naomi is clearly the most nervous and quickly approaches them.
"What did you find out???" She asks Lucien and Eve.
Lucien wants to read both letters to the girls, but before that, Eve steps forward and looks at her sisters with a loving expression.
"Before showing it to you, I need to tell you something..." She tells them about their missing sister and then she and Lucien share the contents of the letters.
Everyone is shocked, even Maya, as this story involves other Primordials beyond the Water Spirit.
Like Lucien and Eve, they are all filled with assumptions and questions.
But again, Naomi is the first to speak. "So, Michael went to the Shadow Star, taking all our people and resources from this world?"đ§đđđđ€âŻđđđ°đŁâŻđ.đ€âŽđź
"Thatâs what it seems like." Lucien responds honestly, after all, they canât be absolutely sure of anything.
"What are we going to do now?" Donna asks.
Lucien and Eve look at each other. "We think going to the Shadow Star is the best choice, but we can discuss it."
"I agree!" Naomi quickly says.
"Me too," Amelia and Claire speak simultaneously.
Sophia also nods, and Lucienâs other wives mentally assure him they will follow any decision he makes.
However, some women, especially Saria, Kamala, and Maya, are concerned about something in particular.
"We need to warn my mother about this threat," Kamala comments.
"Yes, itâs a threat to all the Seven Stars." Saria adds. "Also, my mother still has good allies in the Shadow Star, it could help us get a good start there."
"A good start?" Lucien thinks out loud. He canât deny what that implies. "She expects me to..."
"Become the leader of the Shadow Star and then of the remaining five stars, as you did in the Blue Star?" Pride comments in an expectant tone.
All the girls look at Lucien with curious eyes; they too see how this seems to be his destiny, or at least someoneâs plan, probably his motherâs.
Despite not knowing the situation of the other six Stars, they agree that all the people of the Blue Star love Lucien as their ruler, so he could potentially do the same good for the people of all the other Stars.
The Sins, on the other hand, fear they might be too manipulated by mysterious figures.
"Are we really going to do what this woman wants?" Gluttony comments doubtfully.
"And if itâs good for us? Why not?" Greed responds.
"You want to do what? Run back like a scared puppy to Hell?" Wrath gives her sister a mocking look.
Greed returns it with a hostile expression and eyes shining gold. "Youâre not the one to decide that!"
"Nor are you." Pride speaks calmly, but her increasingly powerful aura exerts enormous pressure on the other Sins.
"Hey girls, nowâs not the time to fight." Lucien also speaks calmly, but his emotions are still quite agitated.
Heâs very excited to soon see his mother and meet his missing sister, but he also wants to go to the Shadow Star to understand whatâs happening. And of course, to help them if possible.
"Be careful, Lucien," Envy speaks in a loving tone. "You mustnât let anyone manipulate you."
"Of course, my dear." He smiles at her and the others. "But as itâs written in this letter, we are the only ones to decide which path to follow."
"And youâve already made up your mind, havenât you?" Sloth asks.
"Yeah, weâre going to do it." Eve holds Lucienâs hand and smiles confidently.
Their other sisters and the other girls also smile; everyone agrees to follow that path, even the Sins, although they continue to be wary of the intentions of Lucienâs mother and possibly the other Primordials.
"So, how are we going to do it?" Donna asks.
Lucien organizes his thoughts and begins to make plans. "We donât know the progress of the secret alliance between Gods and ShĂ© Dragons, nor whatâs happening in the Shadow Star, but first we need to ensure the safety of our people."
"But our people are in the Shadow Star already." Naomi quickly comments.
"Itâs not just them who are our people now," Lucien comments while casting a loving look towards Cassidy and the other girls from Argerim.
"We donât know how many enemies are lurking, so we need to take those loyal to us in Argerim to the Blue Star, only then we will head to the Shadow Star." He declares.
Naomi and Lucienâs other sisters canât help but be concerned about their mothers in the Shadow Star, but they support Lucien and agree to help him migrate the people of Argerim before anything else.
"Donât worry, this process should be quick due to the magical portal of the Water Spirit." Lucien comments.
"Yes," Saria nods. "And we can accommodate everyone in the Mermaid Kingdom until the Water Spirit finishes preparing lands for them."
"Nice," Lucien smiles at the cute Mermaid Princess before turning his attention back to the other girls. "So, weâre going to Argerim right now, and then to the Shadow Star."
