Chapter 759: Teasing The Devil
Hearing about Yakovâs war to reclaim his right to the throne of the Dark Elves, Lucien ponders which strategy would be most efficient to bring peace to Shadow Star.
Although Lustâs suggestion to seduce the current Queen seems challenging, it could indeed be quicker than helping Yakov win the war, and most importantly, it could save many Elven lives.
However, as he contemplates this, Nea canât help but be concerned about her old friend.
"Did Ekaterina really betray Yakov?" Nea recalls the name of his sister and struggles to believe that such a close relative would do such a thing.
Svetlana, hearing this, canât help but look upset, as she believes Yakov is the traitor, not her Queen. Instead of expressing her feelings like Artem, she chooses to observe silently.
Ludmila, on the other hand, nods with a sad expression. "Yes, she took the crown, going against the wishes of their parents."
"I see..." Nea feels even sorrier for Yakov, but on the other hand, she understands why he never went to the Blue Star in the last thousand years.
He couldnât assist her in the war against Tyrion because he was facing a personal war against his own sister for the well-being of the Dark Elves.
Noticing Neaâs sympathy for Yakov, Ludmila feels optimistic. "Are you here to help my Prince, your majesty?"
"You donât need to use titles with me," Nea comments amicably.
Sheâs about to respond affirmatively, but then she looks at Lucien and takes his hand before declaring proudly, "I didnât come here for Yakov, but to support Lucien, my husband."
Lucien is drawn back from his thoughts by Neaâs words and tenderly strokes her hand with his fingers.
The presence of Nea, clearly supportive of Lucien, indicates that he cannot shift his plans to support Yakovâs sister, Ekaterina, as it would likely lead to conflict and possibly even Yakovâs demise.
Initially, Lucien thinks this way, but he knows he needs more information about both Yakov and Ekaterina before forming a final plan. Yet, he acknowledges that this wouldnât be the first time heâs chosen a more challenging path for the sake of his wives.
Ludmila had already noticed how Nea looks at Lucien, in the same way that all the women around him do.
However, hearing that the legendary and proud Mermaid Queen, who had denied so many suitors, had accepted a demon as her husband, was something unexpected for Ludmila.
Yet, she quickly realizes that it was inevitable. [It makes sense, no woman can truly resist his diabolical charm...]
An awkward silence fills the atmosphere, and Ludmila suddenly realizes sheâs been staring at Lucien oddly.
"Ah, so you two are really together," she blurts out unintentionally, and when Lucien looks at her inquisitively, she almost panics.
"You seem disappointed..." He comments in a curious tone.
"Itâs not that!" She fears offending him after he had helped her people so much and quickly apologizes. "I was just a bit..."
"Upset?" Lucien teases.
"No," She quickly responds and, fearing to offend him further, decides to speak the truth. "Itâs just that my Prince will be happy, but..."
Nea canât help but smile as Lucien looks at Ludmila with a penetrating gaze. "What? Jealous? Does he still have feelings for my wife?"
Ludmila finds herself in an unprecedented situation; a world divided by civil war, her people suffering more each year, the emergence of a human king, and now a demon...
Her nervousness intensifies with Lucienâs reaction to the possibility of Yakovâs feelings.
"...," she finds herself at a loss for words.
Lucienâs expression sharpens as he looks directly into Ludmilaâs eyes. "Also, how were you so certain about Nea? Even if Yakov told you about her appearance, you couldnât be absolutely sure she wasnât just a beautiful Mermaid."
Feeling increasingly pressured, Ludmila tries to appear natural. "I wasnât completely sure at first, but I couldnât ignore her royal aura..."
Lucien believes Ludmilaâs words, yet heâs certain sheâs hiding something.
"You might be able to lie to me, but you wouldnât want to," he speaks calmly. "Not when Iâm being so honest with you."
The atmosphere grows tense as Lucien doesnât give Ludmila any leeway out of the awkward situation.
His sisters are growing impatient, but Nea canât help but enjoy Lucienâs apparent jealousy. Sheâs curious to see where this will lead.
Cecilia, on the other hand, wants to help her friend. "Come on, Lucien, we have more urgent matters to address than your romantic insecurities."
Lucien isnât ashamed to admit his jealousy towards his wives. After all, he couldnât claim to love them so deeply if he felt nothing when other men show interest in them.
And he cannot expect that other men wonât feel attracted to his wives when they are so beautiful.
"No, no..." He keeps looking at Ludmila. "Thereâs something sheâs not telling me, and Iâm curious about it."
The elfin maid realizes that Lucien wonât let her leave without knowing the whole truth, so she decides itâs better to tell it right away.
"Alright," she lets out a long sigh as she braces for any extreme reaction from Lucien. "My Prince... he has always been very fond of Queen Nea... and..."
Ludmilaâs hesitation makes Lucien increasingly curious. "And???"
"He painted pictures of her," Ludmila speaks quickly. "Thatâs why I recognized Nea and was certain of who she was when I saw her face up close."
"Oh, is that all?" Lucien fakes a disappointed face with the revelation. "Anyone who sees Nea would surely want to keep a memory of her beauty."
Ludmila wipes the sweat from her forehead while laughing with relief. "Yeah, naturally..."
But then, just as she lets her guard down, Lucien corners her against the wall with another question.
"What do these paintings look like?" He asks.
"Very respectful, I assure you!" She quickly responds.
But Lucien fires another question even faster. "And how many are there?"
"..." Ludmila hesitates for a second, and Lucien notices it.
"Iâm not sureâ" She tries to dodge the question.
But Lucien notices it and presses her even more. "The truth!"
"Many!" Ludmila becomes so tense that she refuses to try to hide anything from Lucien. "He has dozens... hundreds of them covering all the walls of his castle."
"..." Everyone falls silent as the atmosphere becomes tense.
Lucien has several conflicting feelings and can only put his hand on his forehead and shake his head.
Nea canât stop laughing at the situation. She blames Lucien for stirring so much jealousy in her heart, so itâs impossible not to enjoy seeing him suffer from jealousy too.
Part of Lucien enjoys Neaâs happiness, but he looks at her with a serious expression. "You find this funny?"
"Hahahaha..." Nea laughs loudly but quickly tries to control herself. "Sorry, itâs just that youâre used to making us feel this way, so itâs good that youâre tasting your own medicine."
Lucien shakes his head. "This isnât about my jealousy but the fact that heâs still in love with you, which will complicate an alliance."
"Nah," Nea disagrees. "Yakov is not such a petty man, Iâm sure he will understand that he lost and the future of his people is more important than his pride."
"This isnât about his pride," Lucien explains honestly. "But how do you expect me to allow him to have your paintings on all the walls of his castle and stare at them all day..."
Lucien canât prevent other men from feeling attracted to his wives, but this case is too extreme and he canât leave it unanswered.
Nea understands well how Lucien feels; she already expected such a reaction due to his possessiveness and sheâs not upset; on the contrary, she revels in his jealousy even more.
Yet, she tenderly strokes his face. "You fool, Yakov can have as many paintings as he wants, but I never posed for him, so all he did was draw his memory of my face while you have my body and heart all the time."
Lucien smiles and kisses Neaâs lips. Heâs not used to feeling jealousy like this, but he also knows he wonât be able to ignore it when he sees the hundreds of paintings of his wife in Yakovâs castle.
Nea understands that, but sheâs really enjoying making him jealous and teases him even more by whispering in his ear.
"Also, Yakovâs paintings canât compare to those youâve made of me..." Of course, Nea is referring to the paintings that Lucien creates of his wives nude after sex.
And itâs impossible not to wonder what kind of paintings a man in love might create, which gives him a specific urgency.
"I have to see these paintings as soon as possible!" Lucien exclaims to Ludmila.
She fears for Yakovâs safety and quickly responds. "They are all respectable paintings, I assure you, my Prince respects Queen Nea very much, he would never do anything obscene with her image!!"
"I hope so," Lucien starts in a calm tone, but his eyes begin to glow pure gold as his tone becomes increasingly dominant. "Otherwise, this war will have a quick and tragic end."
Nea canât help but laugh even more at the situation. She always thought that Lucien and Yakov would be good friends if he doesnât kill the poor elf at their first meeting.
Also enjoying the situation a lot is Envy, who made Amelia progress an entire layer just with the power of jealousy.
