Chapter 765: Dangerous Revelations
As they listen to Ceciliaâs detailed account, Lucien and his sisters find some of their questions answered, while new ones emerge, as always.
"So thatâs how you became so powerful so quickly?" Lust asks Cecilia about the elemental seed offered to her by Lucienâs mother.
"Yes, we all ended up using it," she affirms.
"And after that?" Lucien asks.
"We destroyed the Silver Legion," Cecilia responds. "I was able to avenge my parentsâ deaths and the suffering of my people..."
Cecilia becomes quite emotional remembering all that she went through, and Lucien doesnât want to press her further now, but he canât help wanting to know more about his mother and Zoe.
"Is there anything else about them that you can tell me?" He asks gently.
"Iâm sorry," she speaks in a friendly tone. "After we accepted her proposal to come to this world, it was the last time I saw them. Since then, we started a new life here."
"I see," Lucien smiles. "Thank you."
Though he hasnât received much information about his mother, Lucienâs smile grows brighter.
Cecilia is confused and questions him. "Why are you so happy?"
He quickly explains. "For a long time, I thought my mother might be as despicable as Michael, but if she went to such lengths to help you and the others, and even brought your people here..."
"She seems to be a truly wonderful person indeed," Sophia comments.
"And she took such good care of our sister..." Eve also grows to like Lucienâs mother. "Zoe? But what kind of name is that?"
"I like Zoe," Claire adds, also in an upbeat tone.
Naomi is too emotional to say anything, and Donna struggles with conflicting feelings. The fact that her mother took such actions to learn about her makes her feel loved, but then she remembers how she was abandoned, and her heart fills with anger again.
Lucien continues to hold Donna tightly, absorbing part of her furious energy. "Itâs okay, my dear..."
"Something isnât right," Amelia looks at her mother with a pessimistic expression. "Why would she bring you and our people here knowing about the imminent war?"
"Because weâre making more and more enemies," Eve comments. "And they would have discovered Belor sooner or later."
"And there, our family would be an easy target," Lucien adds. "At least here, we know who is coming to attack us, and we can fight together."
"Fight together against whom? And what war are you talking about? The elf war?" Cecilia asks.
"No," Lucien shares the grim news. "Thereâs a secret alliance between Gods and ShĂ© Dragons coming here; itâs an offensive against all the Seven Stars, and this world is their new target after failing to invade the Blue Star."
Cecilia struggles to grasp the severity of the situation, but Ludmila and Svetlana canât remain silent after hearing that.
"Is this real???" Ludmila quickly exclaims in fear.
"This canât be true!!" Svetlana is even more frightened and refuses to believe it.
Nea confirms. "Thatâs the reason we came here."
"This is madness... Gods and Shé Dragons?" Ludmila begins to understand why Lucien promised to protect the elves, but now, instead of doubting his words, she doubts his ability to help them in such a crisis.
Lucien looks at the elves with a serious expression. "Do you understand the gravity of the situation?"
Svetlana can hardly think, but Ludmila puts her brain to work as quickly as possible.
"Why are you telling us this?" She questions him. "Also, why did you let us listen to all these things that should be your secrets?"
Lucien looks directly into the beautiful elfâs eyes. "You already know."
Ludmila tries to piece together the puzzle in her mind and comes to a dangerous conclusion.
Svetlana really canât think due to panic and quickly starts walking toward the door. "I have to warn my Queen..."
"No!" Ludmila acts quickly and grabs the young elf by the arm. "You canât leave."
"Let me go!!" Svetlana tries to push Ludmila away. "I canât just stand by while my people are in grave danger!"
But Ludmila continues to hold her tightly. "Fool, donât you understand what he just did to us?"
Svetlana is utterly confused and looks at Lucien with a pleading expression. "What are you talking about? He hasnât done anything to me-"
Ludmila quickly forces Svetlana to look into her eyes. "I owe you nothing, so I will only say this once. From the moment he allowed us to start hearing his secrets, he put us in a test of trust."
"A test of trust?" Svetlana still doesnât understand Lucienâs actions.
"Yes, you and I," Ludmila explains. "Donât you see? How could someone like him carelessly let his personal secrets be exposed? And now, after this revelation... it could plunge our entire world into chaos."
"But..." Svetlana begins to grasp the situation.
Then Ludmila releases her arm. "If you want to go ahead, I wonât stop you, but if you try to leave this hall without earning his complete trust... he will... kill you."
Those words shock Svetlana. She canât believe that the kind devil who was treating her so well until now would just kill her like that.
She quickly glances at Lucien and sees his eyes are a cold blue, and his expression is so calm. "You wouldnât... would you?"
"I suggest you sit down," Lucien speaks in a calm but firm and extremely dominant tone. "Cecilia hasnât finished telling me everything I want to know."
Not just Ludmila and Svetlana, but Cecilia and even Maya are surprised by this turn of events. Nea and Lucienâs sisters, however, understand that while he is kind, he is not foolish and wonât put the people he loves in danger, no matter the cost.
Ludmila calmly sits back down at the table, but Svetlana still seems unable to believe that Lucien would kill her in cold blood.
She looks towards the door, only thinking about taking the new information to her Queen. "This is so important... my Queen needs to..."
But then Eve steps between the elf and the door, beginning to summon her great sword, releasing her intimidating aura throughout the hall.
"One wrong decision..." Eve speaks in a cold and dominant tone. "And it all ends."
The atmosphere in the hall is extremely tense, and Svetlana feels as though sheâs entered a lionâs den, now possibly paying with her life for her mistake.
Her instinct tells her to sit down silently beside Ludmila like an obedient child, but her heart wants to help her people, and she still believes in her Queen.
However, Svetlanaâs body is paralyzed with extreme fear, rendering her immobile.
Ludmila feels sorry for the young elf but also has to deal with her own fear and shock.
In this situation, Svetlana starts to tremble and internally screams for help, and as if by a miracle, someone responds to her desperate cry.
A gentle warmth envelops her body, not a seductive heat like Lucienâs, but a purely kind energy.
"Poor child," Maya gently holds Svetlana by the shoulders and brings her back to sit beside Ludmila. "Donât be afraid, Lucien is not a monster; he just wants to protect his family and your people too."
Svetlana stops trembling thanks to Mayaâs comforting warmth and sits back at the table.
"Thank you," she says to Maya while casting a curious look at Lucien.
He smiles at her, returning to his friendly and seductive demeanor. "Good choice, now behave like a good girl."
Svetlana canât comprehend how Lucien can change his personality so completely, shifting from the extreme of a good devil to someone so cold so easily.
Meanwhile, beside her, Ludmila thinks about all the ways to earn Lucienâs trust and understand his intentions.
