Gazing into the boundless abyss, feeling the faint air currents and the occasional wind brushing past his ears, Blaine hesitated for a momentâthen suddenly leapt straight toward the side of the track.
"Mr. Hunter, Mr. Hunterâ!"
"Oh shit."
A Wakandan who had been operating the machinery to mine vibranium happened to see this scene and was instantly scared out of his wits. He shouted desperately, trying to stop Blaine, but it was already too late.
As far as this abyss was concerned, even TâChalla, the King of Wakanda, did not know what lay below. Even as the Black Panther, he would never dare to jump into it so recklessly.
After all, Wakanda had exhausted countless efforts to mine the vibranium meteorite, and only then had they discovered this vast space beneath it. As for what lay even deeper, they knew that, at present, not even the combined power of the entire nation could explore it.
It was said that the first generation Black Pantherâthe man who unified the tribes of Wakandaâwas buried below. Moreover, anyone who attempted to uncover the secrets hidden beneath this place seemed to meet a tragic end. Because of this, the area had long been designated a forbidden land by Wakanda. Such was reality: while God had bestowed great opportunities upon Wakanda, He had also brought with them terrifying disasters.
"Heh, looks like thereâs going to be one more person who never comes back,"
"Well, at least it saved a ton of vibranium."
Looking in the direction where Blaine had jumped, TâChalla sighed helplessly. Though he said it had saved a ton of vibranium, he did not stop the mining. Perhaps he didnât want to waste this once-a-year opportunityâespecially since this additional chance had been approved by the Council of Elders.
No one knew how much time passed. After the mining was completed and Blaine still hadnât returned, the last trace of hope was finally eroded by anxious waiting. TâChalla made the decision to pack up the mined vibranium and leave. Soon after, the metal walls and protective shields were sealed once more.
What TâChalla didnât know was that Blaineâs thoughts were entirely different. He had already been to the Dark Dimension and even confronted Dormammu. Blaine didnât believe there was any place on Earth he couldnât endure. At worst, he still had Hunter Space as his ultimate lifesaving trump card. After all, the last time he came to the entrance of this metal mountain, Blaine had tested itâhis mental power had been suppressed, but Hunter Space could still be used freely.
Driven by overwhelming curiosity, Blaine ignored everything else and jumped straight down. However, what followed was not as terrifying as TâChalla had described, though it was certainly filled with taboos.
First of all, flight magic could still be used. At the very least, Blaine didnât have to worry about falling straight to his death. Then there was his mental powerâit could still be released, but only within a range of about five feet around him. Even Hawkeye was heavily restricted and could only barely see the nearby surroundings when pushed to its limit.
Listening to the howling wind rushing past his ears as he descended, Blaineâs nerves tightened. Facing this endless darkness, he couldnât guarantee what kind of dangers might be lurking within it.
With a flick of his fingers, Blaine used magic to summon a flame.
During this descent, Blaine hadnât used flight magic. It wasnât that he couldnâtâhe simply wanted to land as quickly as possible.
