Chapter 124: S.H.I.E.L.D. Team: Knowing Too Much Is Making Us Grow a Brain

Chapter 124 · 5,033 words

Lucas's description in the diary clearly left a deep psychological shadow on Tony Stark's middle-aged heart.

After all, he was thoroughly impressed by Lucas's power.

Currently, Tony had no good way to deal with Lucas. The so-called Anti-Superman Armorwas still just a concept.

To build a targeted "Anti-Series" armor, you first needed to know the opponent's exact capabilities and parameters. Only then could you design countermeasures.

If you didn't even know the basics, designing an Anti-Armor was a joke.

Because it wouldn't work.

Right now, he couldn't gauge Lucas's specific combat power. He could only pile on his most advanced tech and materials, but it still felt woefully insufficient.

So lately, Tony went out less. He devoted himself entirely to researching new materials and weapons.

Of course, the Anti-Superman Armor wasn't necessarily just for Lucas. It could be used on others too.

But if even Lucas felt he would be hung from a street lamp by the Ancient One, Tony didn't know how he would face her.

"Sir, your mental anxiety is excessive. perhaps you could go out for a while to relieve stress? Maybe some car racing?" J.A.R.V.I.S. suggested.

"I'll consider it," Tony mused.

Racing was one of his hobbies. For rich people like him, they had eaten everything and played everything. Ordinary entertainment couldn't hold their attention.

Only extreme thrills could stir their hearts.

"Demon God... Demon God... This means the Ancient One is definitely a magical entity. This must be why Lucas is so afraid. He mentioned before that he would be helpless against high-level magic users. This fits," Tony analyzed.

"We need to prioritize this. Research on Runes and magic-related data needs to be accelerated. By the way, J.A.R.V.I.S., send a message to Nick Fury. Tell him to send me all of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s files on magic. All of them!"

Tony felt a massive crisis. If he didn't prepare enough magical countermeasures on his armor, he wouldn't feel safe.

No rule said he wouldn't face a magical enemy.

Especially since his fate was in the hands of Hollywood writers from a universe outside the Fourth Wall. Who knew if one of those writers would have a brain fart and arrange some weird magical enemy for him?

"Yes, Sir. Request sent," J.A.R.V.I.S. replied.

Meanwhile, at S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ.

"Or some other creature!"

"The most famous record of demons on Earth is probably King Solomon and his 72 Demon Gods. Legend says Solomon asked God for the method to control them. Each of these demons has unique abilities. Clearly not ordinary beings," Coulson said.

"If 'Demon Gods' refers to these, then it means there are huge conflicts happening in places we don't know about. I mean, conflicts between humanity and other species. This explains a lot of previously unexplainable phenomena, doesn't it?"

"Go collect all data on the 72 Demon Gods later," Fury ordered.

"We can't fully rely on it, but it gives us a reference point for what a 'Demon God' is. Even if they are just at the level of Solomon's demons... for the Ancient One to kill enough of them to circle the solar system... that is unimaginable."

Like Tony, Nick Fury was completely misled by Lucas's diary hyperbole.

After all, so many things mentioned in the diary had been proven true. Or rather, they werefuture events. So Fury had lost his initial skepticism. He basically defaulted to believing everything Lucas wrote was true.

It couldn't be helped. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s knowledge of magic was limited to Vampires and Werewolves.

At most, Fury knew about Dracula or the First Werewolf, and their millennia-long feud. But he knew nothing about the deeper Inner World.

Yes, at this moment, he admitted his ignorance.

When he first got the diary, he wouldn't have admitted it. He thought he was the King of the Underground World—the Uncrowned King, second only to the World Security Council.

Few could compare to him. Maybe China's S.P.E.A.R. (Divine Spear Bureau) or the Soviet Red Room, but he considered S.H.I.E.L.D. superior because it was backed by the five major powers.

But as he read more of Lucas's diary—Gods, Ghosts, Aliens, Multiverse—he realized how little he knew.

Tony Stark was a big shot in the Surface World, knowing only superficial Deep Web secrets. Fury realized he was barely better than Tony. They were birds of a feather.

Simply put, both Tony and Fury had their worldviews shattered by Lucas. The massive influx of information nearly exploded their brains.

Series of stories? Timelines? Aesir Gods? Secrets of the universe they never dared to imagine.

Plus all the stuff they brainstormed themselves. Their common sense was destroyed. They reached a point where they would believe anything Lucas said.

Luckily, Asgard had Odin. Odin knew the Ancient One and wasn't ignorant of demons. Otherwise, Thor would have been led astray too.

Right now, Fury felt a headache. His skull was itching.

It was a sign that he was growing a brain.
