At first glance, those eyes seemed no different from an ordinary person's. However, when Chen Fei focused his gaze, he indeed noticed something unusual.
A faint, rosy light seemed to flow from within Lin Moxin's eyes, shimmering like rippling water and brimming with spiritual charm, yet also slightly eerie. An ordinary person would never have noticed it without observing closely.
Most importantly, when Chen Fei's eyes met that gaze, he felt a sharp, stinging pain in his own. He found it difficult to look straight ahead as a powerful, oppressive force surged forth and swept over him.
Even I feel this. If it were someone else at such close range, wouldn't they be blinded instantly!?
What are these eyes? Chen Fei furrowed his brow, racking his brain to find their origin and history. However, the inherited memories from the high-level expert of the Cultivation World seemed to contain no similar information. Is it that they aren't worth remembering, or are they so rare that even that expert didn't know of them? The latter seems far too unlikely, doesn't it?
"Are these the Mystic True Eyes? Seven hundred years ago, it was said that someone with these eyes made a notorious name for themselves in the Inner Domain of an ancient country, their might shaking all quarters. They eventually even succeeded in ascending to the rank of King... I never expected that seven hundred years later, these eyes would reappear in the mortal realm!" At this moment, Zhen Jingkong's voice suddenly echoed in his sea of consciousness.
Mystic True Eyes?
Hearing Zhen Jingkong say the name, Chen Fei immediately had some ideas.
In ancient times, there was a type of incredibly powerful eyes known as the True Spirit Eyes of Mystic Heaven. They were said to contain boundless power, granting their wielder the bearing of a world-striding saint. The few who appeared in the world with such eyes all eventually became earth-shattering, peerless figures whose fame echoed through the ages.
These Mystic True Eyes were said to be the precursor to the True Spirit Eyes of Mystic Heaven. Only when the former fully sublimate and transform to their ultimate state is there a one-in-ten chance of reviving those legendary eyes, which were considered the pinnacle of power even in ancient times.
A one-in-ten chance... The number sounds slim, but success would mean attaining the bearing of a world-striding saint, with power rivaling creation itselfâinvincible and peerless. What kind of concept is that? Never mind one-in-ten; even a one-in-a-hundred, one-in-a-thousand, or even one-in-ten-thousand chance... As long as the possibility exists, it represents a heaven-defying fortune. Who would dare overlook it?
"Brother Lin, your eyes are indeed different from ordinary people. They're truly peerless," Chen Fei said slowly.
"Could it be that Brother Chen knows the origin of my eyes?" Lin Moxin's eyes widened in shock, and he grew somewhat excited. He only knew that his eyes were extraordinary and different from those of ordinary Cultivators, but if asked about their source and history, he was completely in the dark.
Now that Chen Fei had reacted this way after seeing his eyes, could it be that he knew their origin? At this thought, he couldn't help but feel a pressing need for an answer.
"Your eyes are called the Mystic True Eyes. In ancient times, those who possessed them, even in the Qiannan Ancient Kingdom Inner Domain, were as resplendent as the midday sun, their might shaking the cosmos! However, Brother Lin, your current Cultivation Level is still too weak. Until you have the power to protect yourself, it's best not to reveal your eyes. If the wrong people were to notice them, you'd be in serious trouble," Chen Fei said slowly.
"Mystic True Eyes? So that's the name of my eyes... I understand. Thank you for the reminder, Brother Chen."
From nearby, Lin Jing Shan's voice called out, "Moxin, I'll be heading back now. If that young man is your friend, you'd best remind him of the rules on our Canglan Island: fighting is prohibited."
Seeing Lin Jing Shan lead his people away, Lin Moxin replied, "Yes, Uncle Jing Shan, I understand. You can head back."
He then turned back to Chen Fei with a smile. "Brother Chen, I wonder what brings you to our Canglan Island? If there's anything you need help with, please feel free to ask."
Hearing this, Chen Fei's eyes, as dark and clear as black jade, flickered slightly. He then replied with a carefree smile, "It's nothing much, really. Besides wanting to sell this Mid-Grade Black Cloud Axe Magical Artifact, I also need to purchase some Alchemy Materials."
"What! Alchemy Materials? Don't tell me Brother Chen is also an Alchemist?" Lin Moxin's face was a mask of shock as he exclaimed in disbelief.
Alchemists, no matter where they were in the Cultivation World, were exceptionally rare and held a distinguished status.
On Canglan Island, for instance, a Second Level Alchemist was already extremely rare and highly revered, commanding an exorbitant price. Only their Twin Rain Tower and the Liu Family's Jinbao Pavilion had the resources to hire one. Even a First Level Alchemist would be fiercely sought after by the various powers on the island. Therefore, not even someone with Lin Moxin's status as the foremost genius of his generation in the Lin Family of Twin Rain Tower could afford to neglect any certified Alchemist. And nowâŠ
Lin Moxin subconsciously looked at Chen Fei again, but this time, the light in his eyes was completely different. If Chen Fei was also an Alchemist, it was simply too incredible to believe.
He's only at the Peak of Qi Refining Sixth Layer, yet he severed the arm of Zhuang Yuanwu, a cultivator at the Peak Realm of Qi Refining Seventh Layer, with a single Sword Qi. It's even rumored that he defeated Wuu Jun from Crow Riverâa notoriously vicious rogue and a true Qi Refining Eighth Layer Powerhouseâcutting him down and beheading him. What did that imply!? It implied unimaginable potential and a profound foundation! This was why he had been willing to step in and help Chen Fei earlier. His eyes could see through Chen Fei's true Cultivation Realm, so of course he understood what a terrifying reality that was. On top of that horrifying potential and exaggerated combat ability that already left him shaken with disbelief... he was also a high-status Alchemist? This was enough to make one's mind shatter! Most importantly, the age Chen Fei appeared to be was just too young; he even seemed a bit younger than Lin Moxin himself. An ordinary genius of that age who achieved just one of these feats could already be considered a prodigy who stood proudly above their peers! Yet the Chen Fei standing before him now had possibly achieved both. What kind of talent and fortuitous encounters would be needed to make that a reality?
"I do need to buy some materials to do some refining. Brother Lin, would you happen to have any suitable shops to recommend?" Just then, Young Master Chen spoke with a smile, indirectly answering Lin Moxin's question and sending tumultuous waves through the latter's heart. He was utterly astonished.
"The best shop on the island is naturally the Liu Family's Jinbao Pavilion. However, if you don't require any particularly special Alchemy Materials, Brother Chen, our Lin Family's Twin Rain Tower should be more than sufficient," Lin Moxin said, taking a deep breath. His eyes shone with a peculiar brilliance, as if covered by a shimmering, spiritual light.
"I don't need any particularly special materials. In that case, would you mind leading the way, Brother Lin?" Chen Fei murmured before a slight smile touched his lips. The pills he planned to refine weren't that complex, so the raw materials should be relatively common.
"Very well. Brother Chen, please follow me," Lin Moxin said, immediately stepping forward to lead the way.
Seeing this, Young Master Chen promptly followed. The two of them, along with the servants who had been trailing Lin Moxin, gradually disappeared into the crowd, leaving the trading area.
...
After leading Chen Fei out of the trading area, Lin Moxin stepped onto the widest main road, which stretched into the deepest part of the settlement.
Unlike the scattered trading stalls in the outermost area, the roadside stalls gradually disappeared as they walked deeper in. They were replaced by rows of square buildings lining the road, with plaques and banners outside bearing various names like Old Chen Family Grocery Store, Chen Family Magic Artifact Store, Eagle Soaring Raw Materials, and so onâa plethora of names.
"These places are a bit more organized than the trading stalls outside. You can sometimes find quite a few good things here," Lin Moxin said with a smile as he led Chen Fei deeper in.
"In that case, I'll have to take some time to browse these shops and see if I can hunt for some treasure," Chen Fei replied with a laugh as they walked.
After they had walked for another several hundred to a thousand meters, the view suddenly opened up before them.
A small plaza spanning several acres appeared before them. It was paved with slabs of white jade, making it look exquisitely beautiful and dazzling. The center of the plaza was empty, save for the wide main road that cut through it, extending toward the Island Master's Residence, which was now not far away.
However, on the path leading to the residence, armor-clad guards from the Island Master's Residence stood watch, their expressions cold. No one walked in that direction, and it seemed the guards had no intention of letting anyone pass.
Around the plaza stood several three- and four-story pavilions. Their styles ranged from exquisite and intricate to opulent and lavish, or simple and elegant.
The land area and spacing of these pavilions varied. Two, in particular, were the most eye-catching, with plaques and banners inscribed with 'Jinbao Pavilion' and 'Twin Rain Tower' in flamboyant, dancing script.
The other pavilions were clearly less impressive and not on the same level as those two.
