In the office, a young man gets up to greet Hen Lian as he enters the room.

Hen Lian takes off his police hat and places it on the office table.

Zhao Bing looks somewhat puzzled at Zeng Hang who has followed Hen Lian into the office.

Zhao Bing swiftly exits the room. Zeng Hang and Yi Kai make themselves at home and choose a spot across from Hen Lian on the sofa.

Yi Kai, stretching his legs, looks around and asks, “Officer He, may I be so bold as to ask you a question?”

Knowing it is presumptuous, yet still asking.

Continuing on his own accord, Yi Kai asks, “What’s the name of the person who reported JK International for use of irradiated jewelry? And when did she report it?”

This is not something I need to hide.

Hen Lian responds, “The informant is a lady named Pan Yan. She’s the wife of the Lu Group CEO, and she reported it yesterday afternoon.”

Hearing this, Yi Kai and Zeng Hang exchange glances, an understanding smirk crossing their faces.

The report was made yesterday afternoon, yet the approval has already been received at this speed, if one were to say there isn’t something fishy going on, even a three-year-old child would not believe that.

“Yi Kai, isn’t Lu Group a jewelry company?” Zeng Hang asks in a mockingly playful tone.

Yi Kai chuckles, “Indeed, that old fellow Lu Ming bears the face of a deceitful villain, seems like things are getting interesting.”

The two interact with one another without care, disregarding the presence of Hen Lian.

Is it really okay to insult someone so blatantly?

Hen Lian silently listens without interjecting.

At this moment, Zhao Bing returns with a lavishly dressed woman in tow.

“Brother He, Mrs. Lu is here.”

Hen Lian stands up, his face serious.

Zeng Hang and Yi Kai both turn their heads, their gaze falling on the woman beside Zhao Bing.

Dressed in branded clothing and adorned with plenty of jewelry, the woman seems eager to demonstrate her family’s jewelry business connection.

Pan Yan had just stepped out of the salon and was planning to go shopping but an unexpected call from the police station had dashed her plans.

Impatiently looking at Hen Lian, she asks, “Officer He, is there any progress on the case I reported?”

“Mrs. Lu, right?”

Yi Kai’s voice interrupts.

Pan Yan follows the sound, her gaze falling on Yi Kai who is standing up from the sofa, causing her to frown.

“Who are you?”

“Didn’t Mrs. Lu report JK International? Here we are, hurriedly coming over to cooperate with the investigation.” Yi Kai remains calm, though his gaze grows colder.

Hearing this, Pan Yan feels a sudden drop in her heart.

“You are from JK International?”

“Mrs. Lu, I am JK International’s lawyer, Zeng Hang. We’ve heard that you claimed our company is using irradiated jewelry. You also stated you have proof to back up your claim, so please do present us with this evidence.” Zeng Hang looks directly at her, speaking in an unquestionable tone.

Locked in the gaze of those intense black eyes, Pan Yan falters.

Then she instantly straightens her back, declaring with newfound confidence, “JK International uses irradiated jewelry to dupe its customers, don’t I have the right to report you?”

Zeng Hang gives a cold smile and says, “Mrs. Lu, let me remind you, the case hasn’t been resolved yet; you have already declared our company guilty of using irradiated jewelry. If it is proven that our company does not use such items, what you are doing is slander, maliciously damaging our company’s reputation. You’d best be prepared to receive a letter from JK International’s lawyers.”

Pan Yan is a simple woman, her days filled with shopping, card games and beauty treatments. She knows nothing about business affairs. Zeng Hang’s words strike a blow, and she feels a significant portion of her confidence drain away.

“You, you stop trying to intimidate me.”

Her gaze flitting away, Pan Yan’s voice raises in volume.

“I do have evidence, showing your company is indeed using irradiated jewelry.”

Looking at her fuss, Zeng Hang’s eyes flash with disdain.

This Lu Ming seriously lacks discernment, this woman is too stupid.

“Well then, please show us the evidence.”

“I’ll get it.” Pan Yan begins to rummage through her bag, before suddenly coming to a realisation.

She had switched to a new bag before going to the beauty salon today, leaving the evidence at home.

“What, Mrs. Lu cannot produce the evidence?” Yi Kai looks down at her and says in a cold voice.

“I forgot to bring it today.” Pan Yan says, “How about this, you come back tomorrow, I’ll bring it then.”

“There’s no need.” Zeng Hang says, “Our time is precious. We can’t afford to waste it here with you, Mrs Lu. We will personally go to the Lu Group tomorrow, and invite Officer He to join us.”

Hen Lian looks at him in surprise, “Zeng Hang, what are you planning to do?”

“Nothing much, just that as the reputation of JK International is being maligned, we naturally wish to resolve this situation as swiftly as possible.” Zeng Hang casually adjusts his collar and says lightly.

Pan Yan tightly clutches her bag, looking fiercely at Zeng Hang, “What do you mean by that? JK International is indeed using irradiated jewelry. Why do you say I am slandering you? I will have my lawyer sue you!”

“Sue us?” Zeng Hang scoffs, his features icy. “Well then, Mrs. Lu, you’d best find a well-established, highly skilled lawyer. I am very much looking forward to receiving the lawyer’s notice from Mrs. Lu.”

He wanted to see which lawyer would dare to fight against him, Zeng Hang.

“Officer He, we will have to excuse ourselves. We have some other matters to attend to. See you at the Lu Group tomorrow.” Yi Kai says with a slight smile.

Hen Lian nods, “Alright.”

As they strut out, Pan Yan grows anxious.

She glares angrily at Hen Lian, berating him, “How do you conduct your work? Weren’t you supposed to bring JK International’s CEO in for questioning? They both just left, and you did nothing to stop them. Are you colluding with them?”

Hen Lian, his brow furrowed, speaks in a deep voice, “Mrs. Lu, this is a police station, not a place where you can cause a scene. You didn’t bring any of your evidence, so should I just detain someone? Also, you heard their conversation, we are going to Lu Group tomorrow to discuss it further. I request you to leave now.”

“You…”

Pan Yan is left speechless by his rebuke, her face flushed with anger.

“You just wait.”

Stamping her feet, she stormed out of the room.

Once she is at a sufficient distance, Zhao Bing turns and asks, “Brother He, do you think JK International really did use irradiated jewelry as Mrs Lu accused?”
