“Because Daddy is very good at swimming, and Mu Chen is just a child. I don’t even know if he can swim,” Shanshan explained clearly. “Daddy, it’s weird for you to ask this question. I can’t swim either, so how could I save anyone? If you and Mu Chen fell into the water, and Mu Chen can’t swim, couldn’t you just help me save him?”

“Then I would go with Mu Chen,” Little Miss Shanshan replied very decisively.

In an instant, the smile on Quan Jingwu’s face froze.

Jian Qing’s eyes were almost spilling with laughter, “Why?”

“When Mu Chen grows up, I will have gone to the amusement park with Daddy many times already. I haven’t gone with Mu Chen yet, so we should go together at least once,” Little Miss Shanshan said animatedly, completely overlooking the dimming expression in her own father’s eyes, “The kids in kindergarten also go to the park with their best friends, and Shanshan wants that too.”

Jian Qing glanced sideways at Quan Jingwu and patted his thigh, “Xiaojing, it’s alright, you’ll still have many chances to go with her before Shanshan grows up.”

Once they got home, there was an urgent important meeting at Quan Jingwu’s company. After tucking in Shanshan to sleep, he left for the office, leaving Jian Qing at home to keep Shanshan company.

Shanshan woke up not long after falling asleep.

Wearing her little slippers and hugging the teddy bear Mu Chen had given her, she called for her mommy as she went downstairs.

“Shanshan, Mommy’s here.”

Hearing her daughter’s voice, Jian Qing sat up from the couch.

Shanshan ran over, and Jian Qing reached out to lift her up, letting her sit on her lap.

“Why did you wake up so soon, hmm?”

“Mommy, can you take me to find Mu Chen? He sent me a present, and I haven’t thanked him yet.” Shanshan looked up with hopeful light in her eyes.

Jian Qing smiled and curled her lips, hooking her finger under her daughter’s plump chin as if she were petting a cat, “You want to see him that much?”

“He’s my good friend.” Shanshan spoke in a sweet, childish voice, “Mommy, do you think Mu Chen doesn’t know our address and that’s why he hasn’t come to see me?”

Meeting her innocent gaze, Jian Qing smiled, a deep meaning flitting through her eyes.

The first time she met that boy called Mu Chen, she could tell his background was not simple; and from what he said to Shanshan, she was even more sure that there must be many people around the boy called Mu Chen watching him closely.

However, she actually quite admired that boy. From what he had said to Shanshan, she could tell he was a very responsible child. He genuinely cared for Shanshan and was afraid that his own issues would cause her harm.

For that reason alone, she wouldn’t oppose Shanshan making friends with him.

“Mommy.” Seeing that Jian Qing had been silent for a long time, Shanshan thought she might not agree, and began to shake her hand, her eyes reddening as if she was about to cry.
