Chapter 219 Mom
Uncle Olsen was a bit stunned.
âŠ.
For a moment, he felt as if he had seen his mother when she was young.
The girl bore a striking resemblance to his late mother, and he found it hard to take his eyes off her.
He stared at Keira with a dazed expression, involuntarily moving closer to herâŠ
When Keira saw this handsome middle-aged man approaching, she was slightly taken aback.
She looked around and saw that there was no one else, so was this man coming to see her?
While she was pondering this, she saw Uncle Olsen sit down in front of her, facing her.
Keira asked, ââŠDo you need something?â
Uncle Olsen said, âWasnât it you who was staring at me first?â
Keira was perplexed.
No way.
She had only glanced at him a few times; was she being deliberately provoking?
Keira chuckled. âI just felt that you look very familiar, Sir.â
âWhat a coincidence.â Uncle Olsenâs voice was deep with a hint of coldness, but his tone now seemed tinged with reminiscence. âMe too.â
It had been over twenty years since he last saw his mother⊠Upon closer look, this girlâs demeanor wasnât quite the same as his motherâs, but that faceâŠ
He suddenly asked, âMay I ask what your fatherâs surname is?â
Keira was perplexed.
She found the man b a bit strange, but he also gave her a feeling of familiarity, which made her not want to lie.
Taylor wasnât her dad⊠perhaps Uncle Olsen was, or perhaps not⊠Mrs. Olsen didnât tell her last time. Her eyes were filled with deep sadness, so Keira didnât inquire further.
After thinking for a moment, Keira said, âI donât know.â
Uncle Olsen was taken aback. âHow do you not know?â
âBecause Iâve never met him.â
Keira shrugged. âIs that strange?â
Seeing her carefree demeanor, Uncle Olsen gave a wry smile, shaking his head. âNo.â
The smile at the corner of Keiraâs lips portrayed her happiness. âRight, it doesnât matter who he is. Having my mom is enough for meâŠâ
Uncle Olsen asked, âAre you very close with your mom?â
âWell.â
Since Keira found out the truth about the baby swap, these days had been the happiest of her life.
The joy she had been suppressing made her want to share it with someone.
But she was never one to talk much, and the list of those she would talk to willingly was short. Unfortunately, Lewis had been preoccupied with his grandmotherâs issues lately, and she didnât feel right talking about her own happiness.
Seeing this stranger, she suddenly felt a strong desire to share.
Looking at Uncle Olsen, she slowly began. âYou know what? My mom is the best mom in the world. Ever since I was little, if I did poorly on a test, she wouldnât scold me; sheâd even buy me a cake to cheer me up⊠She seems to have never wanted me to be anything special, just happy and joyfulâŠâ That was Mrs. Olsenâs philosophy in raising Isla from childhood.
Keira had dreamt countless times that she was Isla, comforted tenderly by Mrs. Olsen, held in her armsâŠ
Those dreams used to make her feel guilty as if she had taken something away from Isla.
Even a hint of envy seemed inappropriate.
But now, she understood that it wasnât a dream.
Keira added. âI got married, and my mom never once looked down on me for marrying poorly. When she heard my husband was a vagabond, she would just gently smile and ask me to bring him home for her to seeâŠâ
She went on and on, talking about many things.
Not until she noticed the handsome middle-aged manâs stern face soften did she suddenly come back to her senses. âSorry, I talk too much.â
Uncle Olsen, however, didnât mind, and as he looked at her face, he too reminisced about his own mother, his eyes filled with longing as he slowly said, âYour mom is indeed great, but my mother was even better.â
Keira was intrigued.
As a mamaâs girl, she couldnât let that challenge slide.
She rolled up her sleeves, smiling in a way that was anything but happy. âImpossible! Thereâs no mom better than mine in this world!â
Uncle Olsen frowned. âIâve never seen a mom more open-minded than mine.â
âThatâs because you havenât seen much,â Keira scoffed. âMy mom isnât just kind; sheâs also beautiful!â
Uncle Olsen retorted coldly, âMy mom was even more beautiful! She was known as the number one beauty in her day!â
Keira spoke dismissively, âIf you could meet my mom, you would know; no one can resist my momâs charm!â
Uncle Olsen was perplexed.
He actually became quite curious. âThen why donât you take me to see her?â
âSure, letâs go right now!â Keira stood up, spurred by the desire to show off her mom to the whole world!
The atmosphere between the two suddenly turned tense, and the other customers turned to look. The nearby waiter, seeing their argument, nervously made to intervene, but then sawâŠ
Keira and Uncle Olsen were staring at each other, faces puffed with anger, but then all at once, both burst into laughter!
Keira felt that her previous behavior was a bit childish, and also quite silly!
Uncle Olsenâs usually icy face also broke into a smile, and he thought how ridiculous it was for a middle-aged man to be squabbling here with this young girl.
Uncle Olsen asked, âDo you have plans tonight?â
Keira nodded. âYeah, my husband will be here in a bit.â
Uncle Olsen said, âIâve heard this private kitchen serves delicious food, and Iâd like to try more. It feels wasteful with too few people, so how about joining tables?â
Keira immediately said, âNo problem! Are you from out of town? Then dinner is on me!â
Uncle Olsen was always direct, and he nodded. âWell then, I shall graciously accept.â
His personality really appealed to Keira, and she grew even fonder of him, so she waved over a waiter and ordered, âBring us a round of all the specialty dishes!â
It was her own restaurant, after all; she could eat as she pleased.
Uncle Olsen didnât object but said, âShall we add each other on WhatsApp?â
âSure!â
Keira took out her phone, and they scanned each otherâs QR codes.
Uncle Olsen said, âI donât usually add just anyone on WhatsApp.â
A smile tugged at Keiraâs face. âSame here.â
After adding each other on WhatsApp, Keira immediately chuckled. âUncle, youâre my friend now, so if you need help with anything, just let me know.â
Uncle Olsen seized the moment. âActually, I do have a trouble Iâd like your advice on.â
Keira asked, âWhatâs the issue?â
âI accidentally offended a younger person, how do I make her happy again?â
Keira stroked her chin, pondering. âMan or woman?â
âA young woman.â
âYou should give her flowers,â Keira racked her brains for a plan. âPink ones are best! Girls love pink!â
Uncle Olsen nodded.âIâll try that.â
âOkay, if sheâs not appeased, Iâll come up with more ideas for you. Just message me on WhatsApp then.â
Keira raised her phone and then noticed a message from Lewis on WhatsApp. âIâm at the entrance. Are you in the lobby or a private room?â
Keira immediately looked toward the entrance and, sure enough, spotted Lewis getting out of the car.
Her eyes lit up, and she waved at him!
