Chapter 540: Keira Coldly Looked at Susan
Keira coldly looked at Susan, her eyes narrowing. Just as she was about to speakâŠ
âŠ.
âSmack!â
A plate of food suddenly slammed into Susanâs face!
Susan was completely stunned and looked incredulously at the person who did that. Everyone turned to look at her as well.
Erin pulled out a napkin, wiped the grease off her fingers, and coldly said, âYouâre so gross! You put ginger water in all the dishes with your saliva in it. How can we eat this food now?â
Susan wiped the vegetable leaves hanging on her face, utterly infuriated. âThe ginger water was just brought over. I havenât even drunk from it. How can my saliva be in it?â
Erin paused slightly, then patted her head. âRight, I forgot.â
Then she looked at Susan. âSorry, I didnât do it on purpose. I just got angry momentarily and thought you were making us eat your salivaâŠâ
While she spoke these words, she imitated Susanâs expression from just a moment ago, instantly darkening Susanâs face.
Peter was also confused. Originally, he couldnât tell that Susan was faking it, but Erinâs deliberate bad acting made it obvious she was doing it on purpose. With this comparison, Peter immediately realized something.
He turned to look at Susan. âDid you do it on purpose?â
Susan immediately said, âNo, Peter, it was an accident. When the ginger water was brought over, it was a bit hot. I couldnât hold onto the cupâŠâ
No sooner had she finished speaking than Keira scoffed.
She slowly stood up, looking at Lewis. âCan you hand me a bowl of soup?â
The two exchanged a glance, and Lewis smiled a little. He picked up a bowl, filled it with soup, and handed it to Keira, who immediately took it. The moment she touched the bowl, she let go of it instantly.
The bowl of soup immediately dropped onto the table. Although the soup spilled out, it only soiled the area right before her. With all the people in the family, the Olsens used a large, round dining table. The soup spilled, but there was some distance from the other dishes on the table, so only the food in front of Keira got a bit splashed.
Keira looked at Peter. âThatâs how one reacts when holding something scalding. If you knew it was hot, why would you push the bowl away and spill it all over the table?â
Peter was taken aback and immediately looked at Susan. Susanâs face turned instantly pale. She swallowed and looked at Keira in disbelief. âI⊠I didnât think. I just reacted out of my instinctâŠâ
âYour instinct was to push it away? Thatâs so different from other peopleâs!â
Keira curled her lip and said nothing more. Susan tensed up nervously. She didnât expect that today, everyone would stand against her.
She immediately said, âI didnât do it on purpose. There must be some misunderstanding between us. How could I do this on purpose? You said you didnât like ginger, so why would I target you specifically? This is really just a misunderstanding!â
This time, before Keira could speak, James couldnât help but interject, âSusan, since you walked in, youâve been deliberately targeting Keira. Whatâs the issue between you two? Is what Keira said true?â
Erin immediately asked curiously, âWhatâs that?â
âItâs about that man sheâs supposed to fool around with! Since Keira saw it and told us, youâve been intentionally targeting her! Other than that, I really canât think of any other reason!â
James blurted it out.
Erinâs eyes lit up immediately, and she turned to Susan. âSo, youâve been messing around with someone else? And you got caught? No wonder⊠The moment I walked in, I felt hostility from you toward Keira!â
Susan shot back at once. âHow could you tell? Donât be ridiculous!â
Erin retorted. âCall it a womanâs instinct!â
Susan was speechless. Seeing that she couldnât win the argument, she immediately glanced at Peter. âPeter, I donât care whether others believe me; I only care about you! If you donât believe me, I might as well leave!â
Peter frowned.
Susan picked up her bag, pretending to leave. Seeing that Peter still hadnât stood up, she lowered her head in a show of grievance. âPeter, canât you see my feelings for you? I could even give up my life for you! When you had that car accident, the car was leaking oil, and everyone said it would explode. I was the one who pulled you out. We both almost got blown up⊠I never thought we would come to thisâŠâ
The impact of those words was significant.
Sure enough, Peter stood up, took Susanâs hand, and then turned to Keira. âKeira, Iâm sorry about how things turned out today, but Susan is my lifesaver, so can we let this incident go?â
Keira tightened her jaw and scoffed.
Peter sighed. âLetâs wait a few more moments. Iâll ask the kitchen to make some new dishes.â
After that, he led Susan into the kitchen.
James frowned once the two were gone. âThis lifesaver trick works wonders. Next time Kate has some trouble, Iâll save her. That way, sheâll never give me a hard time again!â
âTsk, tsk, tsk!â Charles said, âHow can you curse Kate like that?â
James couldnât help but complain, âIâm not cursing her. Itâs just that Kate is way too fierce, like a tigressâŠâ
While they joked, Keira looked toward the kitchen, sighing.
In truth, she had countless ways to kick out Susan, but what about after that?
Susan saved Peterâs life, and he would forgive her no matter what. Even if her relationship with that so-called brother really came to light, Peter might still be bound by this lifesaving deed.
Keira lowered her eyes, letting out a sigh. Was there a way to solve this trouble for good?
She frowned. Determined, she stood up and headed toward the kitchen.
Before she got close, she saw a maid standing not far away, watching Peter.
The maid looked about twenty-five years old, and Keira didnât think she had seen her around before. Perhaps sensing Keiraâs gaze, the maid immediately looked over. âHello, Miss.â
Keira nodded at her. âAre you new?â
The maid nodded.
Keira then asked, âDo you know my fifth brother from before?â
The maid hesitated, glancing at Peter, then said, âHe seems familiar, like someone I rescued from a car accident a few years agoâŠâ
Keira asked, âWhat did you say?â
