667 Chapter 666
Keira glanced at Erin, who had just spoken up.
Erin nudged her forward, chin held high with pride. âGo on, show them what youâve got! Donât let these people keep looking down on us.â
Keira blinked at her.
Her appearance left Eve and Selena momentarily speechless.
Both of them quickly turned to Keira, âAre you really N?â
Keira was about to respond when Lewis suddenly cut in, âWhether sheâs N or not, as I said, this has nothing to do with Ms. Clark. Butler, itâs time to see our guests out.â
The butler immediately moved to Eveâs side.
Eve stared at Lewis, her eyes brimming with tears as if she were heartbroken. She lifted her chin and asked, âLewis, do you really feel nothing for me?â
She stepped closer, her voice trembling, âWe studied abroad together and came back to Crera together. Does everything weâve shared mean less to you than what you have with Keira?â
Keira raised an eyebrow at Lewis.
Before she could say anything, Erinâs challenging voice piped up from behind, âMr. Horton, whatâs this about? Youâd better give us an explanation! Whatâs all this talk about time abroad? Did you cheat on my cousin?â
Keira hesitated, about to speak. Lewis replied, âThereâs nothing between us. Sure, we were in the same class, but as for coming back to Crera together, there were over twenty of us who returned at the same time. Ms. Clark, Iâm not sure what kind of bond you think we have.â
Erin caught on immediately, âOh, so someoneâs been getting ahead of themselves.â
Lewisâs expression darkened, âAlright, this has gone on long enough. Letâs end it here.â
He was about to say more when Eve suddenly shouted, âLewis, donât you regret this!â
Then she shot a venomous look at Keira, leaving her baffledâshe hadnât done anything to deserve that.
Just as Keira was wondering what was going on, Eve turned to Selena. âSelena, I agree with what you suggested!â
Selenaâs face immediately brightened, and she quickly exchanged a glance with Oliver.
Oliver burst out laughing, standing up right away. âGood, good! If Lewis doesnât appreciate you, my family will!â
Eve lifted her chin and looked at Keira.
Keira was confused for a moment.
She then glanced at Oliver. âSo, should I call you my sister-in-law in the future?â
Eveâs face darkened.
Oliver started coughing.
Keira turned to Lewis. âYour sister-in-law hasnât divorced your brother, has she?â
Lewis played along, âNope. So, Oliver, are you planning on having a second wife?â
Oliver was furious.
His face turned an angry shade of blue.
Nathan immediately stood up. âNonsense, what are you babbling about? This is about matching her with your nephew, Jake!â
Keira was speechless.
She twitched the corner of her mouth and looked at Eve. âSo, Ms. Clark, youâre going to be my nephewâs wife? What should you call me then?â
Eve couldnât believe it.
She clenched her fists.
Lewis spoke up, âMs. Clark was always the best at etiquette; surely, she wouldnât forget her manners, right?â
Eve was at a loss. âUncle Lewis, Aunt Keera.â
âGood.â
Keira responded, thinking how ridiculous this all wasâEve had come here with all that attitude to end up as her nephewâs wife.
As Keira pondered, Erin brushed past her toward Eve. âOn behalf of my cousin, Iâd like to give you a welcome gift, dear nephewâs wife! If youâd admitted earlier that you liked Jake, we wouldnât have been blindsided like this.â
She rummaged in her pocket, pulled out a few pistachio shells, and placed them in Eveâs hand. âSorry, I was in such a hurry when I left home that this is all I brought today.â
Eve stared at the shells in disbelief.
The others exchanged looks, equally baffled.
After giving the âgiftâ, Erin shot a mischievous grin at Keira.
Keira was speechless.
She didnât know whether Erin was helping or causing trouble.
Erinâs behavior was indeed unpredictable.
As Keira observed Erin, Eve took a deep breath. Selena immediately said, âDad, since Jake is marrying a prominent figure like Eve, shouldnât we consider asking Great-Grandma to allocate some shares to Jake?â
Lewisâs eyes darkened at the suggestion.
So, they were after the shares again.
Keira frowned.
Lewis immediately said, âIâm going to check on Grandma.â
Keira quickly followed him.
Seeing this, Erin followed right behind them.
Keira frowned, âWhat are you doing?â
âSticking with you so I donât accidentally cause trouble!â
ââŠâ
Keira sighed and turned to Lewis. âIs Grandma okay? Nothingâs happened, right?â
Lewis lowered his gaze. âGrandmaâs mind is clear now, but⊠given her age, the doctor said she doesnât have much time left.â
