Chapter 271: Mage Association

Ethan was now getting bored in his room. His family was still in the battlefield, and they were doing fine.

He couldn’t even leave the barrier, because if he did, those rulers would surely find him, and then he would have to fight them.

Ethan was watching a show on the TV, where a young man was performing magic, and the audience was enjoying it.

Everyone thought the man was just performing tricks, but Ethan could tell this wasn’t normal magic. That guy was actually using real magic. So, he vanished from his room and appeared at the place where the man performed his magic show every Sunday.

It happened to be Sunday, so there would be a show at night.

Ethan bought a ticket with great difficulty. The man was more famous than he thought. All the show tickets were already sold out, and he had to buy a black-market ticket for a higher price.

Ethan entered the huge auditorium and found his seat. It was in the second row.

The show was at 8 p.m., and it was only 7:30.

There was still some time left when a beautiful woman sat beside him.

The woman was also not simple. She was at least a Tier 3 existence but was neither a demon slayer nor a cultivator.

She had a different type of energy inside her body.

This energy was somewhat similar to that of the Magus World, where his incarnation was living.

"So another group of people. Who are these people? Mages?" Ethan thought to himself.

The woman looked at Ethan. Naturally, she was attracted to his appearance. Even though Ethan was still hiding his true face, he had a special charm of his own.

"Hello there. I’m Selina. May I know your name?"

"Hi. I’m Ethan Hunt," Ethan replied. He wanted to know which faction this new group of powerful people belonged to.

"Do you like magic shows?" the girl asked.

Ethan thought for a moment.

"Actually, I’m interested in knowing their magic tricks. It always gives me fun when I find out how they do it," Ethan replied with a smile.

"That’s interesting. Have you come to Mr. Jake’s show before?" she asked again.

"No. It’s my first time. I saw his show on TV, and that got me interested in him."

"Same here," the girl said again, but this time Ethan didn’t reply, as the manager of Mr. Jake had entered the stage.

"Hello everyone. Mr. Jake will start his show earlier today as a gift for you all."

Everyone started applauding.

Then the man entered the stage and began performing his magic after a short speech.

Ethan could tell he was using his special energy to perform those tricks.

The man was not very strong, similar to a Grandmaster-level being.

Ethan looked at Selina, who was now watching Jake with a serious expression.

The magic show ended soon, and Jake left the stage to a big round of applause from the audience.

"Well, goodbye, Mr. Hunt. It’s time for me to leave. Have you found out his tricks?"

Ethan shook his head.

"His tricks were really flawless. I couldn’t find a single one."

Selina smiled at him and thought to herself,

"Well, he was using real magic actually. It would be a miracle if you could find out his tricks."

Then she left the auditorium. Ethan knew her target was Jake. But what did she want from him? Ethan started following her in invisible mode.

Jake lived on the third floor of the same building where the auditorium was located.

Selina called out to Jake.

"Mr. Jake, I would like to have a personal chat with you about your magic show."

Jake was about to enter the lift when he stopped and looked back.

"Sorry, I’m tired tonight. Maybe you should get an appointment, and then we could have our meeting."

Selina suddenly said, "Fire Elemental Mage Jake. Let’s talk."

This time she was serious.

Jake felt like thunder struck his head. How did she know this? How?

"Hehe, I don’t know what you’re talking about, miss. Good night." He didn’t even wait for the lift to come down and started climbing the stairs instead.

Selina entered the building. The security guard tried to stop her, but with a single look from her, he fainted instantly.

Jake stopped mid-step and looked back. Selina was standing just a step away from him.

"Please follow me, ma’am." Jake became humble.

He knew this woman was way out of his league.

They entered Jake’s house. Ethan also entered with them; he didn’t care about their privacy.

They sat face to face.

The room was silent, but Selina broke the silence.

"I know your master is the Inferno King Salamander, and he taught you during your childhood. Then he left you. You’re doing this to survive, but it is forbidden for mages to use their power for entertainment purposes.

I’m here to warn you on behalf of the Mage Association, and you should also come with me to register as a mage. You won’t have problems with money after that."

She was speaking to him in an easy, respectful manner. Ethan could tell she had a lot of respect for that Inferno King.

"Where is this Mage Association, and why haven’t I heard about them? Are they operating secretly from the martial artists and demon slayers?" Ethan thought to himself.

This organization should be quite powerful, as Selina was a Tier 3 powerhouse, and he could tell she wasn’t from the upper echelon of the Association.

"But ma’am, I’ve established my career here. Can I stay here?" Jake asked cautiously.

Selina’s face turned dark.

"Did you not hear what I just said? If you continue even after getting my warning, the Association will hunt you down. Now it’s your decision."

Jake’s face turned pale. He didn’t know his master from childhood was called the Inferno King.

That man had always looked ordinary and never showed much power.

He thought his master was just an ordinary mage who happened to discover his talent and gave him some guidance.

After that, he had become this strong on his own.

So, after thinking for a bit, he replied,

"Okay, ma’am, I will join. But what is this Mage Association?"

Selina thought for a moment and arranged her words.

"It was created by the strongest mage, Abraham the Great. He’s also called the Ancient Mage or the Ancient One. We don’t know his true power.

The Association was created to gather all mages around the world and fight other-dimensional creatures.

So, every mage who has the power of elements must join the Association, or else they’ll have to answer to us."

"Other-dimensional creatures? What are they?" Jake asked instantly.

"Those are creatures originating from another dimension, and we are the overseers of Earth who watch over it. Every once in a while, a creature would appear, and then we would fight them.

If the monster isn’t powerful enough, we leave it for the martial artists to take care of."

Jake listened everything with a mesmerising manner. Everything seemed foreign to him.

Ethan was also surprised.

"Where are these other dimensional creatures coming from?"
