“I don’t think you’re interested in drinking tea; you’re just afraid I’ll eat someone,” Lin Wei said, suppressing his anger and scolding him.

Lin Teng, thick-skinned, pretended he didn’t hear and forcefully took a seat, patting the spot next to him and saying to Rong Yan, “Sit next to me.”

“Hmph!” The old man snorted coldly and glowered, not giving him a pleasant look. “The moral standards of young people these days are worsening. They are capable of all sorts of sordid deeds. I don’t care what other families are like, but if you dare follow that lead, I won’t let you off.”

Lin Teng felt so embarrassed he could barely show his face, especially with Rong Yan present, so he could only sheepishly plead with the old man, “Dad, Shengxiao’s girlfriend is still here. If you must scold me, do it in private, at least spare me some dignity.”

He was already forty years old, yet still being scolded by his own father as if he were a child. How could he face anyone if word got out?

Lin Wei glared at him furiously and said authoritatively, “I was speaking to Miss Rong, not you! Keep interrupting, and you won’t stay seated here any longer.”

Lin Teng, clearly helpless, called out to him, “Dad. Rong Yan is Shengxiao’s girlfriend, and my sister likes her a lot. Why make it difficult for her? I don’t understand why ‘proper match’ is so important to you. You and Zhiya ended up in your current situation because of these same words, and now you’re letting the same mistake happen to your own grandson?”

He softened his tone as much as possible but still angered the stern old man. The authoritative father’s expression darkened, and with a bang on the table, his voice deepened with innate authority, “Insolence! I do not need you to teach me how to manage my affairs! Go back to where you came from! We don’t need you here.”
