“Big brother, she’s trying to run!” One of the men in the van yelled as he saw Rong Yan stand up.

The burly man was already irritated, his ears buzzing from the noise. He wiped the blood off his face impatiently and snapped, “Shut up! She’s running? Can’t you idiots catch her?!”

The guys in the backseat looked at each other awkwardly. The one who had joked about watching matchmaking shows earlier stammered, “But… Big brother, didn’t the boss tell us to kill her? He didn’t say anything about catching her alive.”

The man in front nearly exploded with rage. His face darkened as he growled, “She’s not dead, is she?! Get off your asses and grab her! Drag her back into the van!”

Desperately, she flipped through the numbers for the emergency line while keeping a wary eye on the four men closing in.

She dialed 110, hid her phone, and scanned her surroundings. There was nothing within reach that she could use.

Her only option was to run.

Forget the scraped leg—without the injury, the quickest way to reach a crowded area required going through several narrow alleys before arriving at the filming location.

“Who sent you?” She forced herself to sound calm, her hands clenched behind her back as she stared coldly at the men circling her.

The four men exchanged confused glances, each seeing the uncertainty mirrored in the others’ eyes.

Rong Yan pressed her pale lips together, thinking rapidly before throwing out another name, “Did Gu Zekai send you?”

In Capital City, the list of people holding grudges against her was endless.

Jiang Meiqi was currently subdued with Rong Nanfeng keeping a close watch. Rong Weiwei was still serving her sentence in prison. That left only the most recent contenders on her blacklist—either the Chu Family or Gu Zekai.

“Is it Gu Zekai who sent you?” Her gaze sharpened, her pale face exuding an icy and commanding aura that made her look downright unapproachable. Her demeanor was intense enough to unsettle the four men surrounding her.
