Chapter 1844: Chapter 1845: Fortunately, She Has No Connections
"If she canāt eat, let her keep starving. When she canāt take it anymore, sheāll eat. I donāt believe a living person can starve to death!"
"Mom, Siyuan is also your granddaughter. You have loved her the most since she was a child, how can you bear to see her suffer?" Madame Shen was extremely aggrieved, with a look as if Old Madame Shen didnāt care for Shen Siyuan as her own granddaughter.
Old Madame Shen almost fainted with anger when she heard the accusation. If it werenāt for the fact that many guests had already arrived at the hotel, she might not have resisted scolding her in public. "Stop saying these things to me! Do I not care for her? Your father and I, at our age, donāt want to clean up your mess anymore! I told you long ago not to spoil her. Spoiling a child is the same as hurting a child, but you always treated my words like the wind. You didnāt listen to a single word I said. Now that thereās trouble, you blame it on me, saying I donāt care about her."
She suppressed the fire in her chest and said sternly, "This time, letās forget it. Fortunately, that Rong Yan has no background, just an ordinary person. Even if Li Shengxiao spoils her fiercely, your father has some ties with the Lin Family, and the Lin Family will give your father some face. As long as the Lin Family persuades Li Shengxiao to let it go, then itās over. From now on, you must keep an eye on her, teach her how to behave, donāt let a girl in her twenties act recklessly, making a scene over a man so that everyone in Capital City knows. No matter how good Li Shengxiao is, heās married, and itās with a small celebrity with no background. Our daughters from the Shen Family disdain competing with a female celebrity. Sheās simply disgraced our family!"
Madame Shen thought she was being too harsh but agreed deeply that since Rong Yan was just a backgroundless female celebrity, Shen Siyuan competing with her lowered her own status, mumbling in agreement, "When she comes out of the police station, Iāll talk to her properly, tell her not to compete with that female celebrity anymore. I also think thereās not much to compete for. She just canāt let go of Shengxiao. Oh, that child indeed is the most outstanding of his generation, even Shen Yu canāt compare to him. If possible, Iād want him as our Shen Familyās son-in-law, but unfortunately..."
Old Madame Shen, with a stern face, said indifferently, "Whatās there to be unfortunate about? Men rarely care about a womanās family background, and that female celebrity is quite good-looking."
Being good-looking implied that Rong Yan climbed up using her looks.
This kind of disdain was the greatest contempt their circle had for women.
Madame Shen nodded, "Yes, sheās quite good-looking."
While they were talking, someone from the Lin Family arrived.
Lin Wei, Madame Lin, Lin Teng, and Su Yijiu all came.
Li Shengxiao and Rong Yan also came over with the Lin Family group because of Lin Zhiyaās invitation.
Old Madame Shen patted her, signaling her to stop talking about trivial matters and hurry over.
Madame Shen, without needing her reminder, was already eagerly waiting, hurriedly hooking her arm and walking toward the Lin Family.
The two families, who hadnāt seen each other for a long time, gathered together as if nothing had happened, laughing and talking for a while.
It wasnāt until Sir Shen, sitting in a wheelchair, felt it was about time, did he casually bring up, "I havenāt been back to the country for a while, and Iāve heard quite a bit about Shengxiao while abroad. I heard he opened a branch company in Mema, quite impressive for someone so young."
Lin Wei, with a smile on his lips, said without changing his expression, "Oh, donāt praise him too much, he just likes doing those business things. I want him to listen and take over for me, but heās not willing."
"Young people have their own ideas; they canāt be led by the nose by us."
