Chapter 34: This Poor Nun Is One Who Has Left the World
Zhang Su understood what Fang Chang meant.
Her gentle brows knit together, lingering without relaxing.
āćNirvana Sutrać says: when one sees others harmed by water and fire, tigers and wolves, or bandits, and if one gives rise to an evil heart and does not rescue them, then one loses the seed of enlightenment... others should act thus, let alone oneās own kin.ā
Fang Chang said, āIf you continue forward, not only will you fail to save Lü Muxue, you will instead lose your own life.ā
Zhang Suās expression did not change. āIf I do not go, not only would I violate the Buddhaās teachings, I would also be unable to pass my own heart.ā
Fang Chang ignored her.
She was a pedantic nun. In the gameās storyline, she would even risk her life for a single line of scripture.
Without waiting for Fang Changās reply,
Zhang Su strode forward and triggered the rock wallās restriction ahead.
A strand of Spiritual Essence, like a flowing tassel, burrowed into her body.
As expected, she froze in place and fell into a nightmare.
āIdiot.ā
Zhao Yuntong stood far away, saying disdainfully.
Fang Chang looked at You Yuan. āMiss You, please go ahead first.ā
You Yuanās heroic phoenix eyes glanced at him. āSenior Aunt Zhang is a Fourth Realm Sitting in Forgetfulness cultivator. I am only in the Second Realm.ā
āThis restriction tests inner desire. It has nothing to do with cultivation level. Even a mortal can pass through.ā
āBut Senior Aunt cultivates the Guanyin Pathāpure-hearted, with few desires, restraining herself and observing propriety. Why can she not pass?ā
Fang Chang shook his head.
āThe principle is correct, but not everyone can cultivate it properly. With Zhang Suās kind of cultivation, after suppression comes an even stronger rebound from the bottom.ā
You Yuan fell into thought, and the way she looked at Fang Chang changed slightly.
Without another word, she stepped forward and touched the rock wall.
The tassel of Spiritual Essence flickered.
In the next moment, it turned into starlight together with her body, crashing into the rock wall and disappearing.
The trial of desire began from the heartācountless thoughts, yet only an instant.
You Yuan had passed.
As expected of one designated by the storylineāthere was not the slightest surprise.
Fang Chang walked to Zhang Suās side, cut open both her palm and his, then pressed their palms together, wounds tightly aligned.
āYou want to save her? Do you just love provoking women that much?ā
Zhao Yuntongās face was cold.
At some point, she had come beside Fang Chang. A faint feminine fragrance drifted as her entire body nearly pressed into his embrace.
The slightly cool touch, like a glutinous rice dumpling, pressed against his chestāsoft and yielding.
āShe came to the ancestral hall because of me. She is undergoing this trial because of me.ā
āThatās her own doing. Each person has their own fate.ā
āDo I look like such a heartless person to you?ā
āI think you just want to refine one more Corpse Puppet.ā
ā......ā
Zhao Yuntong stepped closer, pressing herself tightly into Fang Changās chest.
Like a cat, she rubbed her forehead, eyes, nose, and lips against his neck.
Her breath was slightly cool, circling with tenderness.
When she raised her head again, her stunning eyes carried a trace of pleading.
āWe agreedāone object, one master, right?ā
Fang Chang pulled out a frivolous smile. āOne object, one master is true, but thereās no rule that one master can only have one object.ā
Zhao Yuntongās beautiful eyes widened in shock.
Slowly, resentment flowed within them.
āFang Chang!ā
āHeh.ā
Fang Chang patted the Black Tortoise Square Cauldron at his waist. Zhao Yuntongās soul connection snapped, and her Yin Corpse body was dragged inside, disappearing.
The Obsession Path arose from thought.
Calm currents of thought could not stir the Great Dao.
Fang Chang stood there blankly for a moment. Coming back to his senses, he formed a hand seal and tapped a finger onto Zhang Suās smooth forehead.
...
...
The mist was blue-gray, cold and damp, as if chill seeped outward from the gaps between bones.
At the city walls and street corners, the streets of White Egret City slowly reappeared.
In the distance,
the palace fire dyed half the night red. The smell of iron and blood intertwined, seeping to the lips.
Fang Chang stepped on the green brick road and looked up to see the signboard of the Golden Roc Inn.
Without a doubt,
this was Zhang Suās memory.
But it was actually the Golden Roc Inn of White Egret Cityāand it was the very night when the Crown Prince was struck dead by Lü Muxueās heavenly lightning, and the Second Prince seized the throne.
This was something Fang Chang had never expected.
Fang Chang walked into the inn, passed through the main hall⦠then suddenly halted.
He looked toward the backyard and saw a figure in the kitchen courtyard.
Moonlight was sliced into a long narrow strip by the high walls, falling upon that person and outlining a graceful silhouette.
The monkās robe was loose, yet whether at the chest or the curve of the hips, the fabric was lifted high.
Zhang Su stood there, her monkās robe gently fluttering in the night wind.
Fang Changās gaze turned strange.
At this moment, Zhang Su was half-kneeling on the ground. The crimson Blood Thorn Cord, carrying a sickly sweet scent, tightly bound her in place.
Her monk robe was disheveled, the front wide open.
The moon-white inner garment revealed the flesh beneath, and within that flesh, two hazy masses faintly showed.
Her face burned red, breathing unevenly in shallow gasps.
Just like that night.
If there was any difference, there was.
First, Fang Chang was not present; second, the Blood Thorn Cord had wrapped over her eyes, blocked her ears, and tightened around her lips.
See not, hear not, speak not.
Purityāmaintaining inner calm.
But if she truly could do so, she would not be trapped within the illusion of the restriction.
āMm~~~ā
She let out a soft moan. Her robe opened further, and one side of her snow-white breast seemed to be grasped and lifted by something.
Zhang Su trembled, clasped her hands together, and began chanting scriptures devoutly.
āIf the mind scatters, clinging to myriad dharmas, one should focus on a single condition⦠if the mind sinks, one should arouse diligence, gather the mind and bring it backā¦ā
āIf lustful thoughts are not eliminated, one cannot leave the dust⦠even with great wisdom and meditative concentration manifest, if lust is not cut off, one will fall into the demonic pathā¦ā
āAll Bodhisattva Mahasattvas should thus give rise to a pure mind, not abiding in form to give rise to mind, nor abiding in sound, smell, taste, touch, or dharma to give rise to mindāone should give rise to mind without abiding anywhereā¦ā
Yet the more she chanted, the longer she chanted,
the more chaotic her breathing became.
It was truly scorching.
She raised her head.
Her neck stretched into a long arc, collarbones deeply set, chest lifting upward as if trying to press closer to someoneās palm.
āHehehehe⦠Zhang Su, oh Zhang Suā¦ā
Another voice sounded, full of mockery.
Zhang Su forced her eyes open in panic and saw Fang Chang outside the threshold, two to three zhang away, his face filled with ridicule.
āYou⦠you⦠youā¦ā
Her gaze was hazy, unfocused.
She had not awakened, still immersed in the restriction.
She struggled to stand, but her monk robe was instead torn open further, revealing the thin, gauze-like inner garment.
Its outline and curves pressed against the fabric, forming creases.
Zhang Su panicked. āBenefactor Fang⦠donāt smile at me like that⦠I beg you⦠donāt look at me with such a lewd smileā¦ā
āIāve always smiled like this since childhood. Itās not that Iām lewdāitās your mind that is lewd. Your mortal heart is not exhausted, your lustful thoughts arise again. You are the most lascivious Senior Aunt in the world.ā
Fang Chang said.
Zhang Su grew dazed. āIs⦠is it me? But⦠I⦠you⦠I cannot continue making this mistakeā¦ā
She muttered, yet did not avert her gaze.
Fang Chang stepped forward slowly.
They faced each other calmly.
The closer he got, the more chaotic her breathing became, her chest rising and falling intensely.
She wanted to turn her head, but her neck was stiff and unable to move.
āBenefactor Fang⦠I⦠donāt⦠donāt tease me like thisā¦ā
Her voice was no longer refusal, more like pleading.
She stared at his lips.
āBenefactor Fang⦠you⦠do you want to kiss me?ā
āNo⦠no! This poor nun⦠I am one who has left the world⦠this would violate the rules⦠when the time comes, donāt blame me for taking actionā¦ā
Two lines of clear tears streamed down her face, like pear blossoms in the rain, evoking deep pity.
The tears slid to her chin, hanging without falling.
Suddenly, her entire body froze.
The tears were still on her face, but her gaze changed.
First confusion, then struggle, and finally, within that struggle, a fierce resolve arose.
She suddenly raised her head, eyes blazing as she stared at Fang Chang, her voice hoarse:
āFine.ā
āKiss me.ā
āIf you donāt kiss meādonāt blame me for taking action!ā
Fang Chang: ā......ā
